Top Star: Journey To Become A Global Star - Chapter 285
Chapter 285. Death (3)
Battlefield!
The place where a battle had happened. It was a ground where you would find blood, dead bodies and the smell of death.
In this battlefield, the battle between the army of Cao Xu and Xu Tingsheng was still going on. It was at its end phase and everyone was awaiting the victor who would also be the next emperor of the Liang empire.
Most of the commanders and generals of both the armies had already died, along with the countless soldiers and mercenaries.
It was simply a massacre.
The grounds were bathed in red and this was the biggest battle in the history of the Liang empire.
“Brother, are you okay?”
Xu Tingsheng, the crown prince of the Liang empire turned towards his sister, the Spirit princess, Xu Xiang who looked at him with worried eyes and nodded his head.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just that my injury is hurting.”
“You should rest then.”
“No, the battle had not ended yet and it all depends on Xie Xian now.”
Xu Tingsheng groaned a little and said.
He had been injured during the battle and a spear was plunged into his stomach. If not for the healing powers of his sister, he would have already died.
But as the injury still hadn’t healed completely, he was incapable of fighting.
“… Will Xian would be okay?”
Xu Xiang suddenly asked in a worried tone. Xu Tingsheng already knew the feelings of his sisters towards Xie Xian, so he just nodded his head slowly.
“Yeah, don’t worry, I know him. He would surely avenge his Master’s death and return alive.”
“I hope so…”
Both of them simply looked at the battlefield while saying that. Most of the soldiers of the two armies had already died and now, victory and loss all depended on the fight between Xie Xian and Cao Xu.
Those two were already facing each other in the middle of the battlefield and the final fight was soon to begin.
“I wish Xie Xian would win.”
The spirit princess said and looked at the distance battlefield. Violent winds have already started rising and the end was near.
* * *
“Are you ready to die today?”
Cao Xu said with a calm yet maniacal gaze as he looked at the man in front of him. The person who was the only one that can come close to him in terms of skills and powers.
“I promised someone that I would return alive and there’s no way I would die to the likes of a rotten sc.u.m like you!”
“We will see that…”
Cao Xu attacked first with a swing of his blade. Some kind of weary black energy was already oozing out of his blade.
That black energy leaped forward to devour Xie Xian, but Xie Xian’s sword started shining red and he blocked the attack without getting pushed back.
‘Boom!’
A violent explosion occurred with their clash and winds erupted, pushing back everyone that was in the range.
A seemingly small attack was capable of this kind of reaction and their fight had just started.
The people watching the both of them gulped. They were sure that the battle between Xie Xian and Cao Xu would be enough to split both the sky and heaven.
‘Swish!’
Both Cao Xu and Xie Xian attacked with their swords. Their charges were just like a storm and each time, their swords clashed, violent winds would emerge.
Xie Xian attacked with a low swing and Cao Xu dodged it by pulling back. Then, he attacked at his thigh and made a shallow cut.
Xie Xian was a dijinn and their skins are tougher and stronger than humans. The cut just wasn’t enough to stop him.
‘I will avenge my Master!’
‘I will ascend the throne by killing you’
Their battle soon reached a point where born of them were talking with their eyes. They don’t want to waste a single ounce of energy in speaking or even opening their mouths.
Their eyes were enough for the opponent to know their thoughts.
‘Why did you kill my Master? Why?!’
‘That old bastard deserved to die. You can go to hell and ask him there!’
Both of them seemed to be having a conversation with their eyes. With each swing, their power seemed to increase and it was like they would tear apart the earth and the sky.
Xie Xian was a dijinn that had the power of the light and Cao Xu was someone who had obtained the power of darkness by sacrificing many lives.
Both of their powers were for a purpose.
Xie Xian’s purpose was to avenge his Master and Cao Xu wanted to ascend the throne to gain even more power. His driving force was not ambition or anything like that.
It was just a belief!
‘If you are not strong enough, you and the people close to you would just suffer. That’s why, you need to become the strongest!’
That was the reason for Cao Xu’s madness. He didn’t want to suffer from the strong. That’s why he wanted to become the strongest.
Many can argue about this and it was a crazy goal, but Cao Xu was never normal. No, he was just a monster.
But he was a monster that was forced to become one by others!
‘I need to become the… strongest!’
In an instant, a crazy amount of force leaked out from Cao Xu’s body and his pitch black sword started to prolong. He swung his sword with all his might at Xie Xian who was unable to dodge it in time.
‘Tremble!’
The ground seemed to be trembling at Cao Xu’s powers and Xie Xian was already on the ground, his eyes shaking due to the god-like strength of Cao Xu.
He thought he was strong enough to kill him, but he was wrong.
Fear suddenly arose in his heart and he couldn’t help but think that his time to die had come. They would lose this battle and Cao Xu would rise as the new emperor.
What could he even do?
His fight with Cao Xu had left him with many injuries. Cao Xu was the same, but Xie Xian was more injured.
Blood had dyed his face red and his vision was getting blurry second by second.
‘Master, sorry, I f-failed you…’
Xie Xian took a deep breath thinking that. His end was near and he could only apologise to his Master, Xu Tingsheng and his love… Xu Xiang.
‘Xian!’
As he had started giving up on hope, his brain suddenly played one of the lessons he had with his Master.
‘Remember what I’m telling you. It can take a single battle to end everything and you and your loved ones would all die if that happens. You will lose hope and just die, thinking that you weren’t strong enough.’
‘What should I do at that time, Master?’
‘Think about that reason you were fighting the battle. Peace, ambition or just a favour. It can be anything. Just remember your goals and don’t give up until you have taken your last breath.’
‘Can I really win the battle thinking that?’
‘It would depend on you. Just remember that you don’t die by getting pierced by a sword, you die when you lose hope!’
That conversation played in his mind again and again and Xie Xian became calmer. His rough breathing slowed down and his body suddenly started feeling warmth.
‘Hope!’
A small word with a large meaning.
Xie Xian stood up again because of that single word.
