Top Star: Journey To Become A Global Star - Chapter 287
Chapter 287. 10% ratings?
“Congratulations!”
“Ah, we finally finished the filming!”
“Let’s get drunk tonight!”
Exclamations broke out in all corners of the set when the final scene finished and Director Chen Pu also nodded his head.
The cast and crew was more happy because Director Chen Pu had gave a nod after the 7th take. If he had not been satisfied soon, then all of the people would surely get impatient.
After wrapping up the shooting, all of them moved to a big restaurant which was already booked beforehand.
Tonight, all of them just wanted to get drunk and enjoy!
“Let’s cheers to Director Chen Pu and the cast that worked hard to finish an amazing drama that would surely went on to become a massive hit!”
Someone said and raised his glass. Hearing that, everyone simultaneously raised their glasses and cheered.
“Let’s cheers for «Slayers»!”
“Cheers!”
“Cheers!”
That was just the start.
The crew members started drinking like crazy after that. It seems like they were venting out all of their frustrations as they just drank and drank.
Their schedules were really busy as it already took months to shoot the drama. Many times, the crew members woke up early in the morning to set up the scenes for filming.
It was the same with Makeup artist, Costume designers, Assistant directors, Action directors and every staff member who contributed to the filming of «Slayers».
The actors who worked on this project also unbuckled their belts and drank heartily. It was especially hell for them as there was no actor who wasn’t scolded by Director Chen Pu once.
They were in constant fear during the shooting and today, they can finally enjoy.
People were drunk on alcohol and there was excitement at every table that they were causing a commotion.
Everyone was talking about some kind of topic, but the main focus was on «Slayers» and how the public response would be.
They were also talking about the performances of the lead and the supporting actors and actresses. On the table in which the actors were sitting at, the same topic was going on.
“I think people would surely praise the performances of Senior Hou and Ren! They simply nailed their roles.”
A middle aged actor with a sharp chin started the conversation and everyone nodded their heads. They glanced at Ren and Hou Qian before speaking.
“Yeah, the main character would surely get the best response.”
“It was a character meant to be liked by the public, but I’m really curious about how they would see Cao Xu. Drama and movies these days generally don’t have good villains.”
“Yeah, but Cao Xu is a great villain. I think the response would be good.”
“People were already going gaga over Cao Xu when the character posters were revealed, especially those fan girls.”
A young actress said and Na Wen, who was sitting next to her added.
“They were excited because of Ren’s changed look. He really have too many fan girls. It’s hard to say how people would take Cao Xu, especially because of his ruthlessness.”
Playing Cao Xu was a risk and it would now depend on how the people would react to it. The actors were conversing about that, but the topic of the conversation Ren was just silently eating.
Seeing that, Tang Lan couldn’t help, but ask.
“Ren, why are you silent?”
Ren raised his hear hearing that and the other people also looked at him.
“Yeah, how do you think the people would react?”
Na Wen asked and tilted his head. Ren just smiled at him and replied.
“I don’t know how they would react to it, but I know that a good villain is meant to be hated, so if Cao Xu was hated by the people, then I guess it would be a success.”
Ren didn’t mean that he would receive hate. He just meant that people should hate Cao Xu for it to become successful.
In the end, a villain’s job is to be the bad guy.
“Ren is right. Cao Xu is a character that is hard to be likeable, but at the same time, Ren’s performance would surely be praised. I believe that people would see a new side of him.”
Hou Qian said when he heard Ren’s words. He then raised his glass and opened his mouth again.
“Let’s cheer for Cao Xu!”
“Cheers!”
“Yeah, cheers!”
All of them raised their glasses and Ren did the same. He wasn’t much worried about it anyway since he knew how it would turn out.
Cao Xu’s character was destined to become iconic!
‘I’m feeling drunk…’
50 minutes into the party, Ren started feeling drunk. He shook his head a little and looked around the other tables.
People were still drinking alcohol and going wild. Some of them passed out and some of them have even started acting crazy, but all of it was just to vent out.
That’s why, it was okay!
“Hey, how much ratings do you think our drama would get?”
Someone suddenly asked and all the actors started to voice out their thoughts.
“I think it would be considered a hit if the rating exceeded 5%.”
“Ah, that’s too high!”
“The budget of the drama was too much, so that much is required for it to be called a hit. And I think that it would surely reach that much.”
“Yeah, the hype around it is already great because it’s the comeback of Senior Hou. Moreover our star cast can easily bring people to their television screens.”
Tang Lan suddenly curved her lips upwards hearing that and said.
“Yeah, I think 5% is guaranteed. How much do you think we will get?”
She looked at Hou Qian who was silently drinking and asked. He tilted his head hearing that question and replied after thinking for a bit.
“I think it can cross 6% peak ratings!”
A commotion broke out when Hou Qian said that. It was because he was a heavenly queen and knows more than the others. His words can be trusted.
“6%! If that really happens, then we would be rolling in money.”
“Yeah, there’s no drama that exceeded even 5% this year.”
“I would delay signing any projects before «Slayers» come out. My value is bound to increase if the ratings really crossed that much.”
Everyone talked excitedly about the ratings and how their status would elevate after the drama. At that moment, Tang Lan suddenly turned to Ren.
“Ren, what do you think the ratings would be?”
Everyone again stopped talking and looked at Ren, but he just opened his mouth without thinking much.
“Um, at least 10%.”
“What??”
Tang Lan raised her voice hearing that and all the other actors also showed astonished expressions like they were hearing something absurd.
“You are joking, right?”
“No, I’m not. I really think that «Slayers» can cross 10% ratings.”
Ren said like he was sure of it.
It was because he knew the future and in his previous life, «Slayers» had went on to become the biggest hit of the year, surpassing 10% countrywide ratings.
But as it hadn’t yet happened, no one was ready to believe him.
