Transcending Limits - 97 The Strange Graveyard
THE CRAZY ADVENTURE
Endless darkness engulfed vision and their bodies tensed up for no apparent reason.
“Not this one.” An exhausted male voice shook the darkness, hiding a boiling rage beneath.
“The Hundredth cave, check.” A cold feminine voice commented, full of sarcasm.
“Yue Yan, you better stop mocking and start helping.” The male voice was filled with annoyance.
“Don’t call me Yue Yan. We are not close.”The voice of the female turned colder and an Intense icy light shone in the darkness, revealing a goddess beauty and a peerless young man.
To her warning, he just chuckled and showed an innocent expression “Aren’t we close?” He measured the distance between them, which was less than a foot.
“Sheng Tian!” She said, word by word, causing him to look around and ignore the topic.
‘I have a sense of unease. As if something bad will happen. The more it is like this, the more I can’t sit still. More risk, more strength.’ His face had a carefree smile, but his vision swept across the Glazing Snow Lotus Realm.
Looking at the sleeping silver haired goddess who curled like an injured kitten, he felt something breaking inside.

It was three days since she woke up.
He had a feeling that she was fading away from existence.
‘Why?’he asked in the silent nights.
Every person related to him in this world had to face extreme difficulties.
Xiao Lian needed to fight for her life.
Leng Yue Yan needed to fight for her life and her emotions.
And there was also Meng Xin whom he owed a lot. She needed to fight for her promise.
Which one of their lives is without struggles? Who can be arrogant under Fate’s machinations?
The happiness they shared, was it just a fleeting cloud amid the torrents of struggles?
Or was it the pain that created the Happiness?
He didn’t know the answer to that question. But he did know the only solution to all the troubles was Strength!
Absolute Strength!
This is not his obligation, rather his pursuit of life.
Absolute Strength is an elusive promise, just like the Peak of Cultivation or perhaps, these two meant the same thing, along with Eternal Life.
Sheng Tian’s life was the same.
He chased Ultimate Freedom, which needed Ultimate Strength, and that lied with the peak of Cultivation.
So what is his life even about?
Or maybe Why is his Life?
Ultimate Freedom without a Purpose greater than itself is not worth anything.
Sheng Tian realised this early on, and wondered what his purpose was.
“Let’s get moving.” Leng Yue Yan snapped him out of his deep thoughts.
He nodded and they used their spirit sense to travel in the unending darkness.
It has been two days since they entered the Secret Path. There were countless passages opening up in every direction, ultimately ending them with no direction there of.
“I should kill that doggy.” He cursed earning a glare from the Cold Beauty.
“You should stop making high sounds. When you alerted the Blood Bats, we almost died.” She said in a low voice.
“My bad.” Like a little boy who was found guilty committing a mistake, he hung his head low with a dejected expression.
Looking at his reaction, Leng Yue Yan pursued her lips, finding joy in teasing her bully.
Soon, they returned the first divergence of passages. There are a total of 200 passages and they checked every single passage in these two days.
“So, we are basically stuck in the dungeon? And it was all plotted by that shameless doggy?”he rubbed his chin, still having the mood to joke.
Rolling her eyes, the Ice Goddess focused on the 200 passages. Her icy blue pupils had a brilliant gleam for a moment.
She took a step forward and her Crystal Sword—Snow Storm appeared in her smooth palm, lighting up the darkness with a chilling blue light.
“Frost of Zephyr” her words were like an Empress’s decree, as the Wind in the passage turned unbearably cold and concentrated on the Sword.
With a low shout, she slashed in the middle of two passages which would have otherwise been treated like any other passage.
Sheng Tian smiled at her actions, as if he was expecting them. ‘Smart Woman.’he praised her.
The wall between the two passages was blasted to smithereens revealing a majestic pathway.
The walls of the pathway were carved with paintings and inscriptions, each more elegant than the other.
She turned back and shot him a look and dashed into the New “Passage.”
Sheng Tian clicked his tongue and asked “How did yo…?” His words were cut off by the shocking scenery before his eyes.
It was no longer dark, and the sky was filled with red clouds.
The ground was dyed brown and red.
Before them was a graveyard with hundreds of tombs!
“Heroes of the World” Leng Yue Yan read the magnificent words on the Stone Arch.
The tombstones were made of glittering black stone, which looked far more expensive than the highest quality of Jade Sheng Tian has seen.
Sheng Tian sniffed in the heavy scent lingering in the air and felt his limbs turn rigid. Calming himself, he looked at Leng Yue Yan who stood in front of the Stone Arch like a statue.
“Yue Yan” he called out to her in a Low voice, but loud enough for her to hear.
“Yue Yan?” Worried by her lack of response, he walked towards her, only to find her face turning pale.
Before he could even touch her, a blue light shone from her body and she staggered backwards.
Sheng Tian caught her in his arms and checked her condition with his spirit sense, as he asked “What happened? You alright?”
“Mother….”her voice was barely audible, yet he could feel the heart wrenching grief from the depths of her soul.
“Yue Yan.” He hugged her gently and patted her back.
“Don’t leave me, mother.” Tears drenched his shirt as the Cold Beauty wailed like a little girl, dumfounding him.
“Wake up. I’m Sheng Tian.” He shouted, trying to bring her back.
“Don’t leave me, father.”her sobs touched his heart as he tightly embraced her, a strange feeling rose in his heart.
Didn’t he long for “parents” that never came when he was on Earth?
Though Life threw the rocks at him, he kept climbing, after his Foster Mother died. In the depths of his heart, he wished to have Parents, a place to call “home”. A family and a belonging.
Wasn’t this what he wished for?
He didn’t obtain them in his previous life.
If he deserved a family and home in this life, then so did girl in his arms.
They will become each other’s family and the place they stayed would be their home. He vowed in his heart.
“I will be a good girl.”
“I won’t ask for the Aunty Yan’s sweets anymore.”
“I will cultivate hard.”
“I will not be wilful.”
“Just don’t leave me.”
“Why did you kill my mother and father?”
“I’m….scared of the dark.”
“You monster!”
Her wails reverberated out to the desolate land and into the depths of his heart.
He could almost see a cute young girl with icy blue pupils and a stubborn personality playing with her friends. Her eyes sparkling when eating her favourite sweets. The way she hugged her mother and father. Her joy when her father carried her on his shoulders like a Princess.
And it all ended on an a night darker than the scariest nightmare.
Losing the only people she had, how could her heart still be the same?
It must have frozen with the death of her parents. To make her so cold and indifferent, she must have really loved them, right? Just how much suffering did she undergo?
All those memories, all those emotions, there is no way she or anyone could remove from her keeping her the same person.
He could only accept her and all the scars in her hearts. Because they are not just her past, they are a part of her.
At the sight of her pale face, a deep sigh escaped his throat.
Why did she have to face so much alone?
She must be very young when she lost everything that mattered to her. And she still had to fight for her life and the cruel fate.
If those emotions and memories of her childhood are the only things she treasured in her life, then losing her emotions would be worse than killing her.
He bent his head and gently caressed her icy blue hair. With a gentle look in his eyes, his lips touched her forehead, planting a kiss of affection.
Her eyelashes fluttered for a moment and her sobbing ceased.
It seems that his action had a deep affect on her.
“What’s happening here?” Sheng Tian carried her in his arms like a princess and looked at the Stone Arch.
It emitted a ancient aura; full of bloodlust, despair and sacrifice.
Looking at the words “Heroes of the World”, his gaze was inexplicably attracted towards those words.
Sheng Tian could feel a foreign feeling invading his mind and trying to corrupt his consciousness.
“Humph!” With a cold snort, his Soul emitted a blinding white light and the foreign force was annihilated.
“An Illusion Formation, no, it must be a Dark Nightmare Formation.” He analysed.
“How did you escape?” A hoarse voice sounded, prompting Sheng Tian to shift his gaze, deep into the GraveYard, only to find empty air.
“Ghost?” He cursed at the one thing he never liked.
