Transcending The Martial Peak - Chapter 88 Mind Forgets Heart Doesn
Sheng Tian was frozen to the core. He couldn’t believe what he had just heard. In that instant, he lost self-control and stood up, his eyes never leaving hers.
*Bam* The door to the living room was blasted open as two figures quickly rushed in. They were none other than Leng Yue Yan and Ke’Er who heard the shout of Sheng Tian earlier. They felt that something has gone wrong and barged in.
Upon arriving in the room, they were stunned before they could even speak. Sheng Tian was sitting opposite to the door they entered. So, when they came in, the first thing they saw was him.
Leng Yue Yan saw an OtherWorldly Handsome Young Man standing and his eyes were filled with so much shock that he didn’t even notice the two. Leng Yue Yan was someone who showed coldness and indifference to everyone and everything. Even Sheng Tian under the disguise of ‘Ling Tian’ was only able to create a spark of curiosity.
But by just seeing him, ‘Sheng Tian’ drew her gaze onto him. She was stunned looking at him but was quickly able to recover thanks to her cold and indifferent personality. But it was no easy feat to be the focus of the Ice Goddess by just standing.
Ke’Er, this young girl who just reached 15 years was struck at the spot. It was like she was petrified. Even her breath had stopped.
Leng Yue Yan shook Ke’Er lightly. Ke’Er snapped out of her daze and slightly shook her head and shouted: “Who are you Big Brother?” Even though she shouted to question him, it felt more like she was trying to gather his attention.
Sheng Tian saw the two people came in and instantly understood what happened. He said to Leng Yue Yan “Meng Xin and I need to talk something very important. Please don’t barge in until we come out.”
Meng Xin woke up from her lost thoughts because Sheng Tian’s reaction only meant that whatever she guessed must be true and there is something important she didn’t know. She looked at Ke’Er and Leng Yue Yan and nodded her head showing her approval.
Ke’Er was flustered as she was outright ignored. But she couldn’t bring herself to scold such a handsome guy.
The two left as quickly they came and closed the door.
Sheng Tian sat down and Meng Xin immediately said: “Tell me everything.”
Sheng Tian asked her “You have to first answer my questions so that I can have a better understanding of the situation. First of all, Why did you ask me that question?”
Meng Xin didn’t know where to begin with. Sheng Tian then probed again “Did something happen to you for three days in a row this month?”
Meng Xin looked at him in disbelief as she still said calmly “Yes. I was unconscious for three consecutive days 20 days ago.”
Sheng Tian nodded lightly but this meant that she was unconscious just when he went to take the trial of heart. And just like him who stayed for three days, she too was unconscious for the same three days straight.
Sheng Tian only felt that one possibility. They were in it together. He asked lightly “You can’t remember anything you did in those 3 days?”
She shook her head. Sheng Tian asked, “Then how did you know that something was not right between us?”
“I don’t know. I feel many emotions when I met you. The words you used, the expression you made, the way you spoke, everything felt surprisingly familiar. It feels natural.” Meng Xin explained.
Sheng Tian released a deep breath. It seems like he was holding his breath in anticipation. After hearing her answer, Sheng Tian confirmed things.
Sheng Tian spoke with a smile from genuine delight “Mind forgets, Heart doesn’t.”
He continued “What if I told you that your soul was dragged to live in a Dream World in its time equal to 3 years which resulted in you being unconscious for 3 days. Would you believe me?”
Meng Xin looked at him and asked, her calmness wavering: “Which means I lived with you for 3 years?!”
Sheng Tian nodded “You won’t trust me and that’s fine. It would be weird if you did. But you have the evidence for my statement. And that is your feelings and subconscious thoughts. They can’t come out of nowhere.”
Meng Xin was shocked by the truth. She took some time to compose herself and asked shakily “What did we do for 3 years?”
Sheng Tian turned silent. His eyes showed gentleness, love and caring. Meng Xin lost herself in the myriad emotions of those sky blue eyes. Only a while did she understood what he was trying to say and stood up “Sheng Tian, I can’t believe you are actually so dishonorable to do start a relationship with a naive lady when she lost her memories.”
Sheng Tian looked at her eyes which were burning with anger. He shook his head gently and said “Meng Xin, ignorance is bliss. But since you want to know, I shall tell you. I lost my memories of this world when I got there. It was a completely new world. I had a different memory of my life. You too must have felt the same. Then, I lived based on the relationship we had in that world. Husband&Wife, married for 1 year. At that time, I felt that it was natural. So, I did that. ”
Meng Xin, the fairy, slumped into her seat. Her mind and heart in chaos. What does it mean they lived together for 3 years as Husband and Wife? That means they …slept together as well? Her purity!
Meng Xin, though she is always calm and wise when dealing things had next to no idea about relationships. But she knew that there is something sacred between Husband & Wife. It should only be done after they marry. Her ‘mother’ told her that she should give herself only to the person she loved after her marriage. But isn’t this just forcing her to have a relationship in the dream?
She never had any thoughts of deviating from her goal. But this came all of a sudden crashing her heart with waves of emotions. She took a deep breath and said looking at him “Sheng Tian, what happened has happened. I didn’t have any memories, so think that it is just some other girl you were already in a relationship with. I have my own pursuit in life and don’t have time to live together with you even if we marry one day. Besides, defeating me is not easy.”
Sheng Tian revealed a bitter smile. Indeed, telling someone that you lived together in a dream and asking them to live together in real life is simply unrealistic. Besides they don’t have the memories of the dream world. With no feelings to hold their relationship, it was just a kite without a string. The bitterness in his smile increased.
Meng Xin who was about to leave felt her heart being stabbed and felt enormous pain along with bitterness looking at the man in front. Unknowingly, a crystal clear drop flowed down wetting her veil.
‘Why?’ she asked herself. Were the feelings so intense, that she cried just by seeing his pain?
She used her complete will power and suppressed the chaos in her heart. She understood that perhaps the marks he left behind in her heart would never be erased. If she remembered what happened one day, what should she do? Relinquish the past or Embrace the truth? She didn’t know.
If it was something which happened without her involvement, he would have left this matter. But now that she was most probably aware of her own actions in the dream, he didn’t want to let her go.
He said loudly “Tell me. Tell me what you want to do.”
Meng Xin was a bit taken back. Then she composed herself and said slowly “Why should I tell you?”
Sheng Tian looked at her and said with a confident smile “I will help you achieve it.”
Meng Xin looked at him and spoke indifferently “I have to go to the ‘Snow Moon Continent’ at all costs.”
Meng Xin shot him a glare and said “No. But it is very important to me. Don’t ask why. I will tell you if I want to.”
Sheng Tian shrugged his shoulders and calculated the viable options.
The First thought was teleportation formations. But the ones to other continents? He didn’t even know if they existed. Then the next option would be flying treasures or flying beasts. The problem would lie in their capability.
The last option is to travel by one own’s powers. But according to what he learned, even OverLords could not cross the vast gulf. Then the only option was to reach a realm above that. As this thought crossed his mind, Sheng Tian instantly understood why she was so intent on her road of cultivation.
She was hoping to break through to the realm above. That was her goal and only hope to reach the Snow Moon continent. But by the time she achieved this goal if she ever did, it would take at least a hundred and fifty years, if not longer. He understood why she was unwilling to stay with him. Such a persistent woman!
Then if he has to help her purely based on his own power, then he too needs to reach the same realm. But since he decided to travel to the peak of this world in order to search for the cure of the poison and live his life well, he might also add this as one of the reasons to cultivate.
Sheng Tian mentally noted her goal. Then he asked “Meng Xin, Aren’t there any teleportation formations for the other continent? Also, are there no treasures or flying beasts for this?”
Meng Xin gave a bitter laugh as she replied helplessly “Regarding the teleportation formations, I don’t know. There were rumors of some Ancient formations. There might be or might not be any. Even if they are, they might be sealed. And as far as I know, there is no known teleportation formation to other continents.
Flying Beasts. Maybe only beasts beyond the OverLords can fly. But If I could subdue them, I would have no problem going there by myself.
Treasures, There are such treasures in the records of history but no one knows where they are right now. It’s not pragmatic to search for the legends.”
“Let’s leave my matter here.” Meng Xin spoke softly but her intention was clear. Do not ask any further.
It is extremely surprising for her to even talk this much to Sheng Tian even with his status as ‘fiancee’. Because this was the deepest of her secret she didn’t wish to share. Only her master knew of this. No one else.
Maybe after she felt the pain in her heart after seeing his sadness, she felt a little different about him, she felt a little guilty. A little responsible. She became a bit more close and open to him unknowingly.
She didn’t know why she told him so much on their second meeting. If the shocking dream was set aside, they would at best be acquaintances.
But with the feelings of familiarity and reliance she subconsciously felt from him, her guard was down and she let it out.
He looked at her and nodded “Alright. It should be fair only if I tell you a bit about myself so you wouldn’t feel out of place. I wanted treasures here, so I agreed to participate in the Qin Ancestral Ground Trials.”
Saying till there he hesitated about the topic of devils. At first, he didn’t want to tell her as there might be a possibility that the whole matter they hid would be exposed. Upon second thought, he trusted her character and their ambiguous relationship. If he didn’t tell her, she might one day be in trouble. He didn’t know if she knew about them or saw them, but telling her only means more safety.
He lowered his voice lightly and spoke “Meng Xin, just treat what I am speaking as something you would listen but not speak, at least not yet. ” Meng Xin understood that he was going to tell something which he deemed as a secret but she was perplexed about what kind of secret he could be hiding. Leng Yue Yan also told her that she has something to tell in private but they didn’t get the chance.
“The whole trials were traps. It was a meticulous design to unseal a creature termed as ‘devil’. His name is ‘Bloody Wolf’. And to ensure the success of the trial, 11 more devils disguised themselves as humans and entered with contestants. Even Qin Cheng, the young master of the Qin Clan, was one of them.
We only managed to avoid death by a hair’s breadth. And the strength of Bloody Wolf could at least be a peak of OverLord realm if not higher. The devils are the same as humans, except their hair, eyes are pitch black. Their aura is a mix of pitch black and blood red. The aura itself is full of bloodlust, rage, and coldness. It is inherently repulsive to humans. So, be careful in the future and don’t take absurd risks for your goal. You can achieve it only if you are alive.”
Meng Xin sucked in a breath of cold air. This is a very serious issue. And aren’t the characteristics of the aura he described similar to the remnant energy she reported earlier?
She then explained how she found the remnant evil energy in Eternal Frozen Land to Sheng Tian. Listening to her, he fell into deep thought. Then he sighed, it’s not like knowing the truth about the situation could help him. In front of Absolute Strength, all tricks and traps lay waste.
He left the matter as it was. They had a normal chat afterward. It was mostly Sheng Tian talking and Meng Xin replying.
At last, he asked casually “Where do I even find you?” Meng Xin got accustomed to his way of speech and replied somewhat carefreely “Find me.” There was a playful smile on her face.
Sheng Tian who heard this was stunned. Even with the veil covering her face, the carefreeness in her tone and the playfulness in her eyes mesmerized him making him gaze at her.
Meng Xin got embarrassed by his brazen behavior and coughed to wake him up. Sheng Tian snapped out, but he still intently gazed into her eyes.
Finally, She couldn’t bear anymore and turned around. She asked a bit grumpily “What?”
Sheng Tian chuckled seeing her like this. Every time she spoke previously, she always maintained calmness, elegance, and politeness. But this made Sheng Tian feel distant from her. With her showing these cute emotions, he felt that their relationship was now better and they could talk openly. It also means she doesn’t have to restrain her emotions and can show the attitude of a teenage girl.
Meng Xin couldn’t believe herself talking to him in such a tone and joking at him even going as far as to say ‘Find me.’ What did he think she implied? And why was she who was always calm under any situation became shy when he stared into her eyes. What happened? Are the memories taking their effect? Her mind which was like a calm lake was in a turmoil having hit by waves after waves of emotions and thoughts.
Then her vision suddenly blurred. She lost her consciousness as she found herself in a strange room.
The design of this room was vastly different from any of the ones she ever saw. The color of the walls, the ceiling, and the furniture was beautiful and elegant. Then she saw a large bed in the room. On it was two people sleeping. The white quilt was covering their bodies but she was still able to figure that a young woman was hugging a young man and she was sleeping with his arms as her pillow.
Then the woman woke up. Meng Xin couldn’t see the face of the woman and could only see her back. The woman didn’t get up, but she tried to wake the man. She then spoke seeing the time
“Tian, Tian, wake up or else we will be late.” her voice was sweet as she spoke. Meng Xin felt the woman and her voice were very very familiar.
After mumbling a little, the man abruptly sat up bringing the woman up with him. Meng Xin who saw the Young Man’s face was stunned. It was “Sheng Tian”. It was the same person even if his face is less handsome, his hair and pupils are black. But he is definitely “Sheng Tian”. Then ‘Sheng Tian’ said: “Meng Xin?”
Meng Xin who was watching this was surprised and almost replied. But before she could even talk, the Young Woman replied with a “What?”. Then the Young Woman turned around. Meng Xin saw her face clearly, it was herself!
