Transmigrated Enhancement Specialists - Chapter 16
“What are you doing standing in here, Jiang Tian?” Xia Guanyu asked him with a smile on his face. Xia Bingyue kept her wronged expression and stared at Jiang Tian as if he was guilty.
But instead of confessing his crimes, the latter threw her a confused look which intensified her grievance. How dare he feign ignorance! She thought in her heart and formulated some schemes for her revenge.
“Ah, Senior? I just came here to see the current situation for myself…” Jiang Tian leaked an amiable smile, his purpose was indeed scouting the area and discreetly inspecting the wounds that the disciples suffered so he could start his analysis.
‘Judging from the injuries, there didn’t seem to be that much wounds from sharp weapons. Instead, small deep indentions that lined up with a person’s knuckles is present, but it doesn’t seem like it’s made from a human’s flesh…That pattern…’Jiang Tian thought in his mind,
“Senior, could it be that apart from possessing strong physiques, the disciples from the Silent Monastery also augments their combat capabilities using Artifacts?”
Xia Guanyu’s expression flickered and Xia Bingyue emerged from her stupor. Suffusing a solemn expression, Xia Guanyu said, “Yes, that’s right. Since my disciples had weak physiques, the combination of their strong burst power plus the support of an offensive artifact is quite devastating…” Xia Guanyu bitterly laughed.
Stretching his hand, he activated a mystical technique.
“Rain of Blessing…”
He whispered as a beam of gentle light flew towards the skies and returned back to the earth in the form of a rain that healed everyone’s injuries.
The disciples who were frantically running up until now, stopped. Relieved expressions surfaced on their faces as they stared at Xia Guanyu’s direction and deeply bowed in gratitude. The inner and outer disciples also did the same and Xia Guanyu nodded his head before turning around to leave.
“I’ll leave you here for now, Jiang Tian.” Xia Guanyu handed over a pair of steel knuckles and a sheepskin map. Xia Bingyue also turned around but was prevented by her father who said. “Yue’er, you stay here and assist Jiang Tian. Make sure that no one troubles him.”
“Wait, no, why do I have to stay with him! Father?” Xia Bingyue’s expression changed and she hurriedly turned around to complain. Unfortunately, Xia Guanyu was faster than her as his figure disappeared and turned into a dot that flew at the distant horizon.
Jiang Tian disregarded Xia Bingyue’s presence. The young maiden who was used to being in the spotlight ever since she was born felt alienated about this sensation and stared at Jiang Tian with annoyance.
Am I really this unattractive that a mere mortal actually dared to ignore my presence? This wasn’t in the script! He should be showering me with flowery words right now, yet why is he ignoring me? Could it be that…
A sense of premonition surged within her heart and her expression turned pale. An image of a man and Jiang Tian intertwined on a bed along with amorous moans appeared in her mind as Jiang Tian’s voice interrupted at the side.
“Let me tell you this beforehand, but I’m a straight man. I don’t swing that way like what you’re thinking right now…”
Xia Bingyue exploded into a furious blush and she turned her head to the side. Her cold facade that could freeze even the heavens itself disappeared. Replaced by what she truly was. An innocent and inexperienced young woman.
Jiang Tian saw her reddened in expressions and thought, “Unlike those women back in my previous life, she’s really easy to read and tease. Although she can some times become venomous and thorny…”
Meeting someone like Xia Bingyue was a refreshing experience for Jiang Tian who only met venomous women that wanted his techniques and wealth back in his previous life. This experience made him subconsciously dislike them, but towards Xia Bingyue. Jiang Tian didn’t know why but he couldn’t seem to hate her.
Wang~ Wang~ Wang~
A blaring alarm echoed throughout the entire Clan and every disciple suffused solemn expressions as they ran towards the eastern gate, stopping everything that they’ve been doing. Jiang Tian stared at the commotion with concern and Xia Bingyue gnashed her teeth.
“That’s the alarm for mobilization, those bastards are pushing our disciples away from the border near the Mystic Realm.” Xia Bingyue ran towards the eastern gate, clear worry evident on her face.
Jiang Tian followed from behind, and upon entering the crowd of disciples. HIs figure seemed to vanish within the crowd and disappeared. Xia Bingyue turned to look at him but seeing that he wasn’t present. She thought that Jiang Tian ran away in cowardice as she couldn’t help but despise him.
Though Jiang Tian’s move of running away in retreat was the most logical and sound action to take as a mortal. Xia Bingyue still felt disheartened. Particularly, when she thought about Jiang Tian’s secrets. She understood that Jiang Tian could easily repel them using his hidden might.
Under Xia Bingyue’s rally, the morale of the thirty or so disciples from the Inner Clan Region that gathered, increased. Leading her fellow disciples, they nimbly jumped on branches after branches and sped towards the direction of that small-scale Mystic Realm.
Mixed within the shadows of the towering trees was a barely imperceptible shadow that followed them from behind.
Several kilometers away, a bloodbath involving the disciples from the two influences ensued. Judging from the robes of the fallen disciples on the ground, the one on the winning side was the Silent Monastery.
“Keep a safe distance of at least ten meters away from them! Don’t let them close in!” A bloodied young man wielding a sword shouted while bringing his fellow disciples away. Standing at the forefront of the attacks, he stood tall like a towering bastion.
“Senior Brother Lingxin!” A fatty mixed within the injured disciples cried out in a hoarse voice. His heart-breaking wail disturbed his fellow disciples as almost all of them teared up when they saw their Senior Brother’s state.
His left arm hung in a weird angle and his right arm that held his sword constantly trembled. He couldn’t properly open his left eye and his right eye was clouded by the blood that constantly streamed from his head. Despite all of this, Xia Lingxin still stood tall and defended his fellow disciples.
As for the reason why?
Xia Lingxin craned his neck behind and saw the faint silhouette of a young woman whose expression wore utmost concern for his well-being. The young woman had tears on the edge of her eyelids and at this moment, she looked incomparably charming in Lingxin’s eyes.
“Fatty! No matter what happens, I want you to ensure Lan’er’s safety!” Lingxin assumed an offensive stance, his lips lifted into a bitter smile and his eyes emanated a liight of resolution. HIs figure radiated an aura of a martyr hero. Ready to sacrifice his life for his beloved ones.
The fatty who heard his voice started wailing out loud. Turning his face that was filled with snot and tears towards the young woman’s direction. He said, “Xin’er, I swear under the heavens that I will definitely get your beloved Lan’er safely back to the Clan, even if I have to stake my life!” His declaration rang loud and clear.
The young woman’s eyes widened in shock when she realized the actions that Xia Lingxin was about to take. Darting her gaze back at the lone figure that protected them from the waves of enemies. Regret welled up within her heart. She regretted the fact that she acted tough and didn’t answer Xia Lingxin’s sincere confession before disaster struck.
Gnashing her teeth and with tears streaming down her cheeks. She shouted towards the skies and solemnly swore.
“Lingxin, you bastard! I still haven’t given you my answer so you’re not allowed to die!”
Her scream tore through the air and drowned all noises that prevented it from reaching Xia Lingxin’s ears. Xia Lingxin’s figure trembled, he glanced at her figure and whispered into the air.
“I’m sorry, Lan’er, but forgive me…”
He said with a despondent voice and melancholy filling his eyes.
The young woman gasped for air, her expression looked miserable and wretched, yet at this moment, she looked incomparably enticing and gorgeous. The Goddesses from the Nine Heavens couldn’t compare to the beauty that she displayed in her desperation as she shouted.
“As long as you live, I promise that I’ll become your Dao Companion or whatever, so please…”
She mustered all of her courage and shouted.
“Please return safely!”
Her words silenced the battlefield. Even the vicious disciples from the Silent Monastery couldn’t help but feel moved as their movemnts lagged in hesitation. Xia Lingxin lifted a small smile on his face. The fatty beside the young woman lifted the same smile as the former whispered.
“You promised that as long as I can return safely, you’ll become my Dao Companion, right?” Xia Lingxin’s words sounded clear and piercing. The young woman nodded her head, not noticing the strange aura that started to envelop Xia Lingxin and the fatty’s figure.
BOOM!
A defeaning explosion ensued as the frail and weakened figure of Xia Lingxin suddenly exploded with immense power. His limp arm regained its vitality and the lonely light within his eyes shone with a light of excitement and determination.
“Mission Success! Let’s get it on!” The Fatty laughed out loud and leaped towards the battlefield. Mystical runes surrounded his body and his figure transformed into a three-meter tall mountain of flesh.
Fatty Mountain Incantation!
Xia Lingxin on the other hand transformed into a vicious wolf that fought back against the intruders. HIs earlier weakness disappeared as if it was a just a facade. The disciples stared at their onslaught with widened eyes and disbelief.
They never expected that the small candle amidst the tempest could burn so fiercely and oppress the tempest.
The Fatty and Xia Lingxin moved with utmost cooperation that everyone felt like they could read each other’s thoughts. Their power proved too much for the dozen or so disciples of the Silent Monastery as they miserably shrieked in despair.
“If you had that power earlier, why did you bother to conceal it, you bunch of shameless bastards!”
They wrongfully cried out as they retreated. Staring at the disappearing figures of the bald bastards from the Silent Monastery. Both best friends smiled at each other and shared a high-five.
“Mission Success!”
The Fatty reverted to his previous body and Xia Lingxin sheathed his sword and approached the young woman who stared at them with indignance and embarrassment.
When Xia Lingxin and the Fatty suddenly exploded with power, she realized that she actually fell into a trap that they made. Thinking back to the words that she announced earlier, she suddenly felt embarrassed and turned her head away, not daring to meet Xia Lingxin’s gaze.
Xia Lingxin lifted a victorious smile on his lips. His countenance turned gentle, enough that the Fatty who knew him for his ruthlessness couldn’t help but feel a shiver down his spine. Silently retreating, The Fatty said, “Since the two of you had just become each other’s Dao Companions, I will humbly retreat so that the two of you can spend your time together contemplating about the creation of life.”
His gaze swept over the gathered disciples and they hurriedly scattered away. What a joke! The Fatty could transform into a mountain of flesh that could easily smack them into pieces, why would they dare and provoke him?
The young woman’s cheeks blushed even further after she heard the Fatty’s shameless words. Xia Lingxin glared at the latter but the Fatty only stuck his tongue out and teased them from a distance.
“Lan’er…” Xia Lingxin affectionately said. His gentle tone shook the young woman’s heart and she begrudingly turned her head to face him. Suffusing an expression of indignance, she pointed at him and said
“What I said earlier isn’t counted since you shamelessly set me up! Everything that you showed to me was fake so that declaration of mine is fake as well!” She said.
Xia Lingxin’s expression paled. “You can’t do this to me, Lan’er.” The man that could easily annihilate numerous disciples from the Silent Monastery on his own and was known for his coldness transformed into an amiable young boy before the young woman’s eyes.
“What you can’t do this to me?! That should be my line! How dare you deceive me for my answer!” She stomped her feet on the ground and dashed away towards the distance where female disciples banded together.
Xia Lingxin’s expression looked sour and disheartened, but little did he knew that when the young woman turned to leave. A streak of crimson blush decorated her face. Unfortunately, Xia Lingxin didn’t witness such a sight or else he would’ve became more confident about himself.
Xia Lingxin shook his head and deeply sighed. Walking towards the direction of the Fatty. A stern voice suddenly interrupted his walk.
“The reinforcements from the Xia Clan has arrived!”
