Transmigrated Enhancement Specialists - Chapter 59
Xia Dong didn’t dare to display any trace of disrespect towards the Grand Elder and his daughter. With his head slightly bowed, he noticed that Xia Guanyu’s face looked somewhat dark and angered. Feeling a little bit nervous, Xia Dong thought.
“Did I somehow offend the Grand Elder? Why would he come rushing here with such a dark face?”
The Grand Elder visiting the Discipline Hall was a rare occurrence. So Xia Guanyu’s sudden visit added fuel to the fire of apprehension within Xia Dong’s heart. Still, he maintained his prestige as an Elder and acted appropriately.
“May I invite the Grand Elder and Miss Bingyue towards this humble hall of mine? Servants, prepare the highest-quality tea and pastries that we have…”
Xia Dong walked at the forefront and hurriedly ordered the disciples around the Discipline Hall. Upon seeing that the visitor was the Grand Elder and his daughter. They didn’t dare to lag and swiftly departed for their objective.
“I really do have to give my profound thanks to the Grand Elder. If not for the budget increase that you have bestowed my humble Hall despite the strict control and rationing of resources, we wouldn’t be able to work as efficient as we do right now…”
Xia Dong lightly chuckled and flattered Xia Guanyu in an effort to decrease his dark expression. Xia Guanyu merely glanced at him and said in a cold voice.
“Is that so? Good for you…”
He then turned his gaze away and stared up ahead. Continuously walking with his daughter without any care for the flattering Xia Dong who started to feel embarrassed for his shameless manner.
Xia Bingyue detected this and scoffed, “So someone as old and senile as you can also feel shame? Hmmph…” She coldly snorted then proceeded to ignore Xia Dong whose face looked as dark as a kettle’s bottom.
Gnashing his teeth, Xia Dong’s chest violently heaved. Suppressing his desire to burst forth with his anger. He followed suit and assumed an expression that looked as refreshing as spring and as warm as the summer.
“Grand Elder, and Miss Bingyue. My servants have prepared some teas and pastries for you to indulge… May I invite you for a moment to a private room where you can relax in the middle of your business?” Xia Dong offered, and tried his best to smile as sweetly as he can.
Unfortunately, the conflicting emotions of shame and anger in his heart made his smile look crooked and unsightly. Xia Guanyu glanced at him for a moment and said, “There’s no need for such things, just bring us as fast as you can to the Maximum Security Cell…”
Upon saying these words, Xia Guanyu and Xia Bingyue’s expression darkened even further. Xia Dong’s eyes sparkled with the light of comprehension. Clapping his hands together, he lightly chuckled and said.
“So the Grand Elder has also caught whiff of the news about that traitor that dared to rally his fellow disciples into a rebellion? The Grand Elder’s influence really is as boundless as the ocean! Come, let this servant of yours bring you to that bastard…”
Xia Dong hurriedly stepped in front of them and acted like an exemplary host. Xia Bingyue’s eyes sparkled in a strange light while Xia Guanyu maintained his cold attitude towards Xia Dong’s useless words.
The Discipline Hall looked prestigious and beautiful from the outside but once someone entered its depths, they would quickly realize that they were standing inside a winding dungeon that was as confusing as a maze. Not only that, the conditions within the dungeon looked horrendous that not even a cockroach would want to settle here.
The strong smell of feces and urine alone wrinkled Xia Bingyue’s visage as anger rapidly surged in her heart. She had lived her entire life in a clean and sparkling environment, so this filthy environment affected her more than the two.
At the same time, the realization that Jiang Tian was placed and chained within such an environment ignited anger within her heart. Staring at Xia Dong with a cold and venomous gaze, she took quite a moment to calm herself down and proceeded along with her father.
Soon, the group arrived before a dual-entry door with numerous formations attached on it. Revealing his token, Xia Dong unlocked the dual-entry door and amidst Xia Guanyu and Xia Bingyue’s solemn gazes, the door slowly opened and revealed Jiang Tian’s bedraggled and withered figure, hanging on the wall as if he was crucified.
Time itself froze and the atmosphere turned murky. Xia Dong didn’t notice the rapidly changing expressions on the faces of the two as he lightly chuckled and said.
“What’s up, kid? You still alive? How is the pain from the Lung Devourer Slug? Feels quite ethereal, right? But don’t worry, since the Grand Elder’s already here, you’re quite lucky. He would surely bestow upon you a swift and painless death…”
Xia Dong poked fun at the Jiang Tian who trembled from his slumber. Lifting his head, the dim light within Jiang Tian’s eyes detected the Grand Elder and Xia Bingyue’s presence as he murmured, “G-G-Grand Elder… Xia Bingyue…”
Despite his efforts to scream their names, what came out instead was a hoarse murmur from his dehydrated throat. Xia Bingyue’s shoulders fiercely trembled and tears dripped down her cheeks. She didn’t know why but seeing him looking so miserable and severely injured shook her heart and soul.
“Eh? What is going on… Miss Bingyue, you…”
Xia Dong wasn’t completely retarded so he had detected the fluctuating emotions within Xia Bingyue’s eyes. Trembling in a mixture of shock and fear from his epiphany. He briefly glanced at Xia Guanyu as the latter declared with a cold voice that could freeze the heavens.
“Hall Chief of the Discipline Hall, Xia Dong… Care to explain about what’s going on in here?”
Xia Guanyu’s terrifying gaze locked onto Xia Dong and prevented his movements. Xia Dong stiffened there like a statue, though he could fight back with his cultivation base. He didn’t dare to lest the Grand Elder annihilates him in anger.
“Respective Grand Elder… That Jiang Tian there is the rebel that rallied his fellow disciples into rebelling against the Xia Clan! I only gave him the rightful punishment that he deserved for his insolence!” Xia Dong quickly submitted and slammed his knees on the ground.
“The punishment for rebellion when it comes to Outer Disciples is only the crippling of their cultivation bases. Now tell me, why did you use the Lung Devourer Slug against him?” Xia Guanyu’s eyes flashed with coldness and solemnness that demanded for explanation.
Hanging there on the wall, Jiang Tian smirked. In fact when the Lung Devourer Slug landed within his stomach, his Ghost Emperor Scripture acted swift and annihilated it in an instant. So in reality, he never suffered severe injuries, merely superficial ones from Xia Dong’s punches and kicks.
“I…” Xia Dong’s words were lodged in his throat, he wanted to explain his actions but found that under Xia Guanyu’s suffocating pressure, words couldn’t come out from his mouth. Kneeling there like a wooden statue, Xia Guanyu took a deep breath and said.
“You need not to explain anything anymore, Xia Dong…” Melancholy flashed through Xia Guanyu’s eyes for a moment as he continued, “Do you really think that I do not know of the despicable actions that you did against those disciples from the Recovery and Enhancement Team?”
His words shook Xia Dong’s figure as the latter weakly fell to the ground, staring at the ceiling with his lifeless eyes. Now that the Grand Elder had discovered his schemes. He had no route left but death.
“But in honor of our friendship, I will only cripple your cultivation base and will not take your life…” Xia Guanyu deeply sighed, expelling all the emotions that he felt for this brother of his that he fought together with several decades ago.
Xia Dong’s shoulders trembled for a moment as Xia Guanyu hurled a concentrated beam of Spiritual Energy that landed on his navel. Xia Dong coughed a mouthful of blood as Xia Gunyu laid waste to his foundation, ultimately destroying his cultivation path.
“I thank the Grand Elder for his mercy…” Xia Dong whispered in a mournful voice. In a span of a single day, he plunged to the ground from the skies. Such tragedy was something that he would definitely regret until his death.
He regretted taking those disciples’ contribution points for his own benefits and most importantly, he regretted prosecuting Jiang Tian and punishing him with the Lung Devourer Slug.
Making a sidelong glance at Jiang Tian, he crawled over to the wall where he leaned and closed his eyes. Immersing himself to the memories of the prestige that he once possessed.
Xia Guanyu glanced at his former brother and slowly crushed the stone hidden within his palms. Darting his gaze at Jiang Tian and his daughter. He hurriedly sent his Spiritual Energy into Jiang Tian’s body.
“Oh no, the Lung Devourer Slug had already corroded his lung to this extent? Goddamned it!” Xia Guanyu gnashed his teeth and turned to look at his daughter, saying.
“I’ll return to our residence first to fetch some medicines. Remember, do not ever let him sleep or he’ll definitely die!”
Xia Guanyu sternly declared and Xia Bingyue nodded as tears stained her spotless face. Turning to look at Jiang Tian whose chest violently heaved for air, her heart felt crushed. Just what did Jiang Tian do to deserve such pain? She thought in her mind.
“It seems like… I won’t be able to last any longer anymore… Miss Bingyue…” Jiang Tian took a jadeslip from his pocket and handed it over to Xia Bingyue and said in a weak and hoarse voice.
“Inside this jadeslip is the location where you can find my family… I hope… I hope that you will take care of them after my death…”
At the end of his sentence, Jiang Tian coughed a mouthful of blood that splattered on Xia Bingyue’s clothes. Embracing his torso, Xia Bingyue refused to let go as she started mournfully crying like a child.
“No, you can’t do this to me, Jiang Tian… You’re the one that’s supposed to take care of your family so you must live! Please don’t do tihs to them and please don’t do tihs to me… You have to survive no matter what…”
Xia Bingyue even infused her Spiritual Energy into Jiang Tian’s body in an effort to make sure that Jiang Tian will survive until her father returns. Towards her effort, Jiang Tian smiled in melancholy and said.
“Back then at the place where we first met, I established that stall to showcase my talents so that I’ll get recruited into a sect and eventually become a powerhouse… What I didn’t expect was that I met you, Miss Bingyue… Though the time that we spent together was short and fleeting, I never regretted anything…”
Xia Bingyue started choking with tears and refused to let go of Jiang Tian’s body. Her cultivation base madly rotated and infused as much Spiritual Energy as she could towards Jiang Tian’s body.
“It’s futile, Miss Bingyue… Once the Lung Devourer Slug entered someone’s body, that person’s time would be limited and his death is definitely certain…” Xia Dong glared hatefully at Jiang Tian, if not for that little bastard, he would still be soaring through the skies.
“Shut up, you bastard!”
Xia Bingyue violently cursed and sent a burst of Spiritual Energy towards the now mortal Xia Dong in her anger. The latter was scared witless, but before he could retreat. Xia Bingyue’s attack slammed on his body and pinned him to the wall, sending him into unconsciousness.
“He’s right, don’t be so angry… Miss Bingyue, if you keep on doing that, you’ll eventually have wrinkles and look like an old hag…” Jiang Tian smiled and teased, cupping her chin. His expression looked like he wanted to engrave Xia BIngyue’s face one last time before his death.
“Nooo… Jiang Tian, please… Please don’t die… You can’t do this to me… and you can’t do this to your family… I will do everything, and anything that you want me to do as long as you don’t die…” Xia Bingyue became desparate as she fiercely shook Jiang Tian’s torso, making sure that he wouldn’t fall into an eternal slumber.
“Are you sure about that, Miss Bingyue? You will do whatever and anything that I ask of you?” XIa Bingyue didn’t notice that a strange glimmer had sparkled within Jiang Tian’s eyes. All that she knew was that she needed to keep him alive until her father arrived.
“Yeah, I will do anything and whatever that you want me to do so please don’t die…”
Xia BIngyue’s heartbroken voice moved even the cold-hearted and indifferent Ghost Emperor. A flash of hesitation surged through his eyes for a moment but in the end. He still proceeded and said.
“Really? Can you make an oath to the Heavenly Dao that you will do whatever and anything that I want?”
“Yes, I will do! I will do whatever or anything that you want me to do, I swear to the Heavenly Dao! So please, just please don’t die… Wuwuwuwu…”
Xia Bingyue buried herself into Jiang Tian’s chest as the unique fluctuations of the Heavenly Dao manifested above their heads. It trembled for a moment before disappearing into a beam of light towards Xia Bingyue’s body, binding her soul and life according to her oath.
With the completion of his objective, Jiang Tian ruffled Xia Bingyue’s hair for a moment before rolling sidewards. Flipping up from the ground, Jiang Tian stood up and dusted his body. Moving towards the unconscious Xia Dong, he took his Spatial Ring away before turning to look at the astonished Xia Bingyue.
“Okay, I’m alive now…”
Jiang Tian declared with a smirk on his face as the doors of the cell burst open. Appearing like a ghost was Xia Guanyu carrying several jade bottles filled with medicines. Staring at Jiang TIan, his heart underwent the same shock as Xia Bingyue as the atmosphere within the cell turned strange.
“What…”
Xia Guanyu could only murmur.
