Transmigrated Enhancement Specialists - Chapter 8
Half an hour earlier, the carriage of Jiang Tian’s group slowly approached the depths of the Xia Clan’s Territory. After arriving this far, Jiang Tian heaved a sigh of relief. Xia Guanyu announced at the coachman’s seat.
“We’re now inside the borders of the Xia Clan, it should be safe for us to slow down now…” Xia Guanyu’s tone revealed his excitement and anticipation for their arrival.
Jiang Tian turned towards Xia Bingyue who was in the midst of meditation. Detecting his gaze, Xia Bingyue’s eyes snapped open and answered his unsaid question. “It would still take us several days before we can arrive at the Xia Clan Residence. But since we’re already this deep, there should be no chance of encountering bandits. After all, we carry the Xia Clan Flag and this is our territory.”
Jiang Tian nodded his head in understanding, Of course, no one would dare to offend a carriage bearing the flag of the overlord in this territory. Seeing that Xia Bingyue closed her eyes once again. Jiang Tian returned to his task of uncovering the secrets of the Enhancement System.
In this past several days, Jiang Tian understood that the Enhancement System also had a Creation Sub-System where he could forge weapons and items that he needed. However, when he tried opening it, the System told him that he lacked the necessary qualifications for activating the Creation Sub-System.
The System didn’t inform him about the qualifications but in Jiang Tian’s opinion. It should be his lack of cultivation that disqualified him on using the Creation Sub-System.
“Well, it’s an issue that I cannot solve in this situation. For now, I’ll just relax and have myself protected by these two…” Jiang Tian stretched his body and opened his mouth to yawn.
His impudent and ungraceful actions disturbed Xia Bingyue’s meditation as she frowned, “Can you at least cover your mouth when doing that? You’re not the only one in this room, you know?”
Jiang Tian snickered, “I’m sorry about that, but you don’t need to bother about it, Young Princess…My stay here with you will only last for several days at most before we have to part ways…”
Xia Bingyue’s frown deepened, “Part ways? What do you mean? Didn’t you say that you will come with us and become a disciple of the Xia Clan?”
Jiang Tian threw her a look of confusion, “Yes, I indeed said that could it be that you’re confusing something in here? Young Princess? What I meant was that I have to part ways with you since I can’t possibly compare to you. And since hierarchy is something crucial in all clans, staying with you as a mortal would only stain your name…” Jiang Tian shrugged.
Xia Bingyue’s expression became complicated, That’s right, the two of them belonged in different worlds that would never intersect. Why did she expect that they would be together? Shaking her head, Xia Bingyue awakened from her stupor and when she opened her eyes once again. The light that flashed within it felt cold and ruthless.
The prime age of cultivation was in the late teenage years. However, those who cultivated early often acquired a headstart than those who didn’t. Jiang Tian who was still a mortal even in his prime age couldn’t possibly qualify to stand beside her, even if he’s talented as an Artificer.
Xia Bingyue’s coldness astonished Jiang Tian. As someone whose mind was calculating and observant. How could he not realize that Xia Bingyue was developing some feelings for him in these past several days? But right now, after awakening from her dream and realizing their difference in standing, Xia Bingyue sealed her feelings and transformed into a cold Empress once again.
Jiang Tian merely sighed in his heart and acted like he didn’t notice anything.
“Jiang Tian, there’s a river stream about five hundred meters north-east from here. Can you fetch us two jars of water? We need to stock up before we get too far from the river stream.” Xia Guanyu’s voice echoed from the coachman’s seat and to distance himself from the awkwardness, Jiang Tian followed his instructions and went out to fetch some water.
Xia Guanyu walked out from the coachman’s seat and sat before his daughter. His expression looked pensive as he saw his daughter’s complication expression.
Jiang Tian was a smooth and eloquent talker, the stories that he had in his previous life that he told to Xia Bingyue captured the heart of the innocent young maiden and she gradually developed feelings for him. As a member of the senior generation, Xia Guanyu understood this fact, but he didn’t say anything as he wordlessly consoled his daughter.
The ocean was boundless and it contained innumerable fishes. A fish that was more outstanding and intelligent than the mortal Jiang Tian may show up and move his daughter’s frozen heart once again.
After fetching jugs of water, Jiang Tian returned to the carriage but stopped after noticing some shockwaves originating not too far away from his location. Placing the jugs on the ground, Jiang Tian dashed towards the source of the shock wave and there, he saw numerous people in the midst of a standstill.
The other side belonged to an unknown organization while the people on the other side wore the same robes as Xia Bingyue, giving him the indication that they belonged to the Xia Clan. Jiang Tian knitted his eyebrows, judging from the condescending tone of the attackers. The Xia Clan and they were irreconcillable enemies.
Jiang Tian opened the Enhancement System and tapped on the Host Profile Icon.
A window manifested, containing several boxes with equipment that resembled what he wore. All slots were filled up and Jiang Tian tapped on his underwear slot.
[Ragged Fabric – Common]
[A common fabric that can be found everywhere.]
[Additional Effects: Can block a lethal strike. Upon successful blockage, the enhanced item will disappear.]
Jiang Tian lifted a smile on his face. The instant death prevention effect of his underwear was something that even God Emperors desired. After all, it was equal to a second lease in life.
Directing his gaze back to the battlefield, Jiang Tian saw that the bald-headed youths were preparing to annihilate the disciples in one fell swoop. The leader of the disciples succumbed to his fear and ran for his life amidst the disappointed gazes of his fellow disciples.
“What a fucking coward, he’s not even man enough to protect his fellow disciples until the very end…” Jiang Tian cursed in his mind, the young man’s actions made a determined light flash within his eyes.
Just as the three youths threw the tempest at the disciples. Jiang Tian dashed with everything that he had and blocked the attack by relying on his underwear’s additional effect.
Half an hour later, Jiang Tian walked with the dozen or so disciples of the Xia Clan. They dragged their bodies to follow the supreme expert Jiang Tian. Soon, the group arrived before the carriage as Xia Bingyue who saw Jiang Tian’s silhouette shouted in anger.
“Why did it take you so long just to fetch some water? How can you even improve as an Artificer if you’re that wea-” Her words lodged in her throats when she saw that behind Jiang Tian. Numerous disciples of the Xia Clan followed him with complete reverence in their eyes.
“J-j-Junior Sister Xinyi?!” Xia Bingyue ran towards Jiang Tian’s group as the disciples who heard Xia Bingyue’s cry lifted their heads and cried out in surprise and relief.
“S-s-Senior Sister Bingyue?! Is that really you?!”
They simultaneously shouted as each and every one of them embraced each other. The brightened expressions on their faces and the tears that streamed down their cheeks as they vented out their fears and despair hinted at the mental pressure that they had to endure just to survive until now.
“I’m so glad that both of you made it out alive…” Xia Bingyue who heard Xia Luoyang’s narration went pale in fear, she knew about how powerful Tang Zemin was and to escape from his grasp was easier said than done.
“Then, how about that expert? Where did he go? I must express my gratitude to him for saving your lives!” Xia Bingyue’s voice reverberated throughout the entire group. Jiang Tian cheekily smiled and even crossed his arms together as Xia Luoyang pointed at him and said.
“It was that Senior that helped us…”
Xia Bingyue traced Xia Luoyang’s finger and hurriedly turned around, only to find Jiang Tian standing at the place where Xia Luoyang was pointing at.
“H-h-him?” Xia Bingyue’s face revealed her astonishment as she stuttered with her words.
“Yes, it is that Senior that helped us survive through the end…” Xia Luoyang approached Jiang Tian and kowtowed on the ground, her fellow disciples soon followed after as a thunderous voice of gratitude echoed out.
“We express our gratitude to Senior for saving our lives! Please accept our kowtow!”
Dozens of dull thuds rang out and Xia Bingyue’s mouth opened wide as her chin dropped to the ground. Even Xia Guanyu who observed them from the side couldn’t help but tremble from shock as the wooden cup containing liquor that he held was unknowingly crushed into dust.
