Transmigrated into Ancient Times to Sell Desserts - Ch 1
Chapter 1: Egg Pancake
JiWei slowly opened his eyes, and the intense pain at the back of his head made him groan. The first thing he saw was a thick purplish red colored curtain, which looked strange.
Where was this place?
He looked around, at the simple wooden tables and chairs, and the empty house. It seemed like he was in the countryside of the last century.
That’s not right, he should be in Beijing now, accepting the award of Dessert Master China Division at the ceremony.
Oh right!
A truck on the side of the road overturned just now and it happened to hit his shuttle bus. So he should be in the hospital now. Why was he appearing here? Who was playing a joke on him?
JiWei finally noticed that something was wrong. He endured the endless aching pain all over his body, rolled over, and climbed down from the bed.
He pushed open the creaking wooden door, blocked the glare of the sun with his hand, and followed the noise. Then he saw a thin and small young man sitting on a short chair holding a machete in his hand, chopping the firewood. Next to him was a pile of firewood that was half a person’s height.
Liu YiMian noticed someone coming, and looked up to see JiWei. At first he was overjoyed, “Husband, you woke up?”
Seeing Jiwei frown and not speak, he thought that he had touched upon his bad luck again, and the face collapsed. He immediately threw away the machete, bit his lips and stood up. His hands were clasped, and he looked down timidly, not daring to look at him.
“Husband, there is no money at home anymore. I went to HuangLao to get medicine. He said that we were already behind in several payments and that if we didn’t pay the money, he wouldn’t prescribe the medicine. I.. I had no other way…” Liu YiMian’s voice was getting lower and lower. The last few words had already disappeared between his lips and tongue. JiWei, who was standing a few meters away, couldn’t hear it at all.
His mind was very messy now. A lot of memories that didn’t belong to him were now flooding into his mind, making his brain ache. He backed up a few steps and almost fell.
After a long time did he finally calm down.
JiWei clutched his head and asked the words one by one, “Are you Liu YiMian?”
Liu YiMian’s eyes widened when he heard this.
Liu YiMian already had a small face and round eyes, and he looked very well-behaved.
This surprise left his lips slightly opened, and he looked a little naive.
JiWei smiled bitterly. God, even if you wanted me to die, couldn’t you have waited for me to touch the trophy before dying? He had struggled for 20 years and it was all for getting the trophy of that world’s top dessert shop. But now he had missed it!
So hatefull So deplorable! So pathetic!
Liu Yi Mian blinked, and said cautiously, “Husband, are you ok?”
JiWei’s thoughts returned. The original owner of this body was the local tyrant who collected protection fees. He had a bad temper and had bad relationships with a lot of other males. In the end, because of a fight, he knocked his head on the corner of a table and passed out
And the boy in front of him was the ger that the original owner bought back only a year ago.
This so-called ger was far different from any gender that JiWei understood. A ger was between a man and a woman, and he was fertile. The little cinnabar mole between the eyebrows was their distinctive feature.
But compared to women, it was extremely difficult for a ger to conceive. Even if they were pregnant, it was very easy for the mother and child to suffer from the dangers of childbirth. In ten gers, it wasn’t surprising that only one or none of them would be able to give birth to a child. So the price of a ger was far lower than that of a woman’s.
This ger didn’t eat well, and looked thin and small. He was obviously already 15, but he didn’t look any older than 12 or 13. However, because he was cheap, he bought him. It was convenient to raise him as a servant who would wash, clean, cook and manage housework on weekdays.
It’s just that the original owner was irritable and liked to vent on Liu YiMian whenever something was unsatisfactory. Over time, the young man’s body was covered with scars, and he could hardly find a good piece of meat.
JiWei, who had received the memories of the original owner, sighed and walked towards the boy.
But as soon as he approached, Liu YiMian took a few steps back. He tightly clutched the corner of his clothes, and the corners of his eyes were reddish, just like a frightened bird!
“You…” JiWei choked, a little at a loss, “Don’t be afraid, I won’t hit you again in the future.”
Liu YiMian was stiff and didn’t dare to move, but he was surprised in his heart. He worried that this was the eve of the storm, and that JiWei had changed his way of torturing him.
Seeing that he was cautious, JiWei said, “You chopped a lot of firewood. If you are tired, then you should go rest.”
“No, no need, I’m not tired!” Liu YiMian desperately shook his head. For fear that JiWei might feel that he was being lazy, he suddenly squatted down and held the machete as if he was going to continue.
But after being hungry for a day, and running into town to seek medical treatment for Jiwei. He was very tired. At this time, his head became dizzy, his hands and feet were weak, and his stomach was still hungry.
Liu YiMian almost didn’t dare to raise his head. His ears were red, and his fingers pinched his thighs. He depended on the pain to raise the machete again and continue to work.
“I’m hungry, what is there left at home?” JiWei coughed, and Liu YiMian quickly dropped the machete and stepped forward to support his arm.
“There is not much left, some rice noodles, a few sweet potatoes, and also three eggs.”
Even these three eggs were sent by Aunt Zhou from next door, who felt that Liu YiMian was pitiful and sent it over.
He supported JiWei to the kitchen, and subconsciously walked to the stove and took out the flint to light a fire.
“What are you planning on doing?” JiWei asked, standing at the door.
“Boil an egg to replenish the husband’s body.”
Eggs were precious things in this small remote place. Whoever could eat an egg every day was considered a wealthy family.
JiWei stared at Liu YiMian’s emaciated figure, and asked casually, “When was the last time you ate eggs?”
When Liu YiMian heard the words, his hands stopped moving. He bit his lower lip, and felt a pain in his heart.
He could no longer remember the last time he had eaten an egg.
When at home, the eggs were for the elder brother who was studying. When he arrived at Ji’s house, the eggs were also first given to his husband, Jiwei. He was just a person who no matter where he was, was not qualified to eat at the same table.
“Forget it, come here.”
There was no reason for this old master (JiWei) to be here and let a kid cook for him.
In his previous life, JiWei was thirty-one years old, but the ger in front of him was only fifteen years old, half his age. In his opinion, he was not just a child.
Liu YiMian walked up to JiWei without knowing it, and he was pulled down to a bench and sat down. He was about to get up, but JiWei glared at him. He sat obediently and didn’t dare to move.
“Sit here, I’ll do it.”
“But,”
“There are no buts.”
Liu YiMian was dumbfounded. But his husband didn’t know how to cook.
Not long after the death of the original owner’s mother, he felt inconvenienced by the family affairs so he bought Liu YiMian. JiWei had never experienced cooking. On a normal weekday, let alone boiling water, he couldn’t even cook.
Not long after the death of the original owner’s mother, he felt inconvenienced by the family affairs so he bought Liu YiMian. JiWei had never experienced cooking. On a normal weekday, let alone boiling water, he couldn’t even cook.
Liu YiMian turned pale when he heard Jiwei’s words, thinking that the sun had risen from the west. If he hadn’t been ordered to sit there, he almost wanted to escape.
He saw JiWei skillfully pour out a bowl of flour from the rice jar, mix it with water and knead it. He rolled a piece into a pancake, took two eggs and beat them up, then chopped some shallots.
He heated the pancakes in a frying pan, fried them until they were half cooked, used chopsticks to break the dough, and poured the egg and chopped shallots into the pan.
Eggs were easy to cook, and when they were put into the frying pan, it had a strong fragrance. The small kitchen was instantly filled with the rich smell of pancakes and eggs.
Liu YiMian’s stomach was empty, and was already hungered into confusion. The smell ran straight to his nose like a long hook. His stomach was constantly drumming, unable to stop.
He swallowed, and couldn’t help but swallow in greed.
These were only two eggs, how could he eat them!
But this didn’t stop Liu YiMian from stretching his neck to look at the situation inside the pan.
It had to be something amazing, otherwise how could it be so fragrant? He had never smelled such a touching smell. It was better and more fragrant than the one in the restaurants in town.
JiWei carried a gray plate with a few layers of steaming golden crispy pancakes on top. They all looked very fascinating.
He pushed the dish to Liu YiMian and raised his chin to beckon him to taste it.
But after a long time, he didn’t see Liu YiMian start.
“You don’t want to eat?”
Liu YiMian’s head shook like a rattle, making JiWei laugh.
“If you want to eat it, then try it.”
Liu YiMian looked at JiWei hesitantly, not daring to start.
JiWei raised his eyebrows, “Perhaps you want me to feed you?”
Liu YiMian’s face reddened. He quickly reached out and grabbed a piece of the hot pancake. For fear that JiWei would regret it, he stuffed it into his mouth. As soon as he took a bite, his speed slowed down, his face showed an intoxicated look, and his eyes closed.
“Husband, what is this?” Liu YiMian opened his eyes, his face full of surprise.
“This is an egg pancake. You like it?”
Liu YiMian nodded vigorously.
This egg pancake was just one of the most common street foods in Jiwei’s world. It wasn’t difficult, as long as there was flour and eggs.
He also saw the eggs in the house and felt that it was simple and convenient, so he did it.
JiWei just didn’t know whether there was such a thing in this world. What’s more, in this remote area, and simple diet, his egg pancake was a novelty and a big deal in Liu YiMian’s eyes.
JiWei chuckled lightly. “It’s not that good. It’s the simplest pancake. If you like it, in the future I’ll make you something even more delicious. I can assure you that you’ve never seen before.”
Liu YiMian’s eyes showed confusion. Although he did not dare to speak, he was young and shallow-minded. All his worries were written on his face.
JiWei pondered for a moment and explained, “The fight this time hurt my brain and I fell into a coma for two days. In my dreams, an old god taught me the craft and made me a new person. This is just the simplest recipe. In the future I will show you one by one.”
Liu YiMian didn’t know what to do for a while, and stared at JiWei blankly.
“This is our little secret between us, you can’t tell anyone else.” JiWei made a secret gesture and looked at Liu YiMian with a smile.
The latter had a reddish cheek and nodded obediently.
Jiwei smiled satisfied when he saw this, knowing that the young man was obedient and had no courage to talk to others. Then he took a piece of pancake from the plate and ate slowly.
Not long after, there was a sudden movement outside the door.
“Mian Mian, what is this smelli Auntie can smell it all over at–“
Liu YiMian knew this familiar voice as soon as he heard it, and his brows were instantly happy.
Just as he got up, they saw a sturdy woman coming in through the door. Seeing JiWei sitting at the same table with Liu YiMian, her mouth slightly opened, shocked.
