Inside the Base Chief Office, a buffed man with black hair and brown eyes was standing on his feet and had his right hand placed on his left chest. This man was the Base Chief of the Marine Base located on Shrunk Island in West Blue.

Sitting on his chair, was another buffed man with purple hair and black glasses. His right arm was missing. This man was exuding a terrifying pressure as he looked at the looked at the screen which was showing the match between X Drake and Smoker. This man was the Legendary Marine, Z.

“How did these two kids do in the Academy?” a deep voice rang out inside the room. The Base Chief’s heart shook in fear as cold sweat appeared on his forehead.

“Reporting Sir, X Drake and Smoker are the top recruits of this year and their results far surpass any of the previous year’s result” The chief spoke in a humble tone. Z nodded and didn’t ask further. He was fully focusing on the match as he was sent to this Base by Sengoku, the Fleet Admiral. Each Marine Base had to send their yearly results to the HQ and they recruit a trainee with immensely great potential to the Marine Ford Headquarters and that is why he was personally sent. All promising Recruits which are qualified to train at Marine Ford are escorted by powerful and high ranking Marines since the HQ didn’t want to lose any potential.

From the ongoing match, after X Drake transformed into an ancient Beast, Z already figured him to be the one that HQ had sent him for. Although Zoan Fruits are the weakest of the three types, Mythical Zoans are greatly sought out by the Marines.

“You think you could become marine just because you got a Devil Fruit? You think you can take revenge on pirates? No, you cannot do anything, you are powerless, you were powerless and you will always be powerless”

Listening to X Drake’s words, Z had his eyes closed didn’t have a change of expression. No matter how bad it seems, what he said was the truth, bitter truth. Owning a Devil Fruit doesn’t mean you could become the strongest in the world.

But however the next moment, Z abruptly opened his eyes as he felt something dangerous. It should be known that he himself was a legendary figure and his Strength was one top in the world but for even him to feel danger, it is unimaginable.

Z knew this feeling very well as he had also experienced this emoting, Rage, unending Rage, when he saw his family dying by the hands of the pirates.

Z disappeared from the Chief’s seat and appeared on top of the office building, gazing directly down below at the match with his two eyes. His eyes widened in surprise as he saw the white haired boy explode into an immensely large cloud of smoke that reached the clouds. He felt unrestrained and almost unlimited power within this cloud of smoke.

The next few scenes truly opened Z’s eyes. He saw, what seemed to be a Logia Devil Fruit that didn’t have any special points, no attack, no defense, no speed, no nothing become something that completely suppressed and overpowered a transformed Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit boy easily. The dinosaur’s mouth was completely disfigured; his body had dents and legs broken. The white haired boy did a huge number of his opponent.

“Interesting, a Logia whose ability is to transform into animals strong enough to overpower an ancient beast. Ha~ha, I have truly discovered a rough diamond” Z laughed to himself and he was about to intervene before the white haired kid killed his opponent but the giant cloud ape suddenly stopped and dropped down before transforming back into the white haired kid.

Smoker was having a nightmare. The scene from that day repeated over and over again. Those two women were his real mother and sister but he considered them to be his. His mother had died at birth and his father married another woman whose husband had also died. She also had a daughter.

Fate was a strange thing. Two people, whose partner died after they gave birth to their first child, met one another and become a couple, only to be separated once more but for eternity.

The nightmare finally ended and Smoker slowly opened his eyes. He saw himself inside a wooden room and it seemed to be swaying a lot. There were also sounds of seagulls outside the room he was in.

He stood up from his bed but immediately fell down. He was feeling immensely weak and hungry, as if he had eaten for years. He felt that he could literally eat a whole Sea King now.

*Bang*

The door to the room suddenly opened and Smoker lifted his head up to see who was the intruder only to be scared shitless. Standing infront of him was an extremely buffed one armed man with purple hair wearing black sunglasses. This man was holding a giant tray with a mountain of food on top of it. The man came to him and lifted his by his collar and made him sat on the a chair and placed the giant tray the table in front of him.

“Eat first” the man spoke while sitting down and looking at him intently. If it was a normal day, Smoker would’ve refrained from eating but, now, he dug in like an animal. The food which would take 20 normal men to finish was finished by him in 5 minutes. He even licked the entire tray so much that it looked as if it was freshly cleaned with the best soap.

*BURFF*

After a loud barf, Smoker recalled the purple haired man and saw him sitting across the table. He looked at him fearfully, unsure on what to say.

“u-um hi?” Smoker greeted, it was more of a question than a greeting.

“As you may know me, I am Z, a Marine Admiral as well as the Instructor of the Elite Class at the Marine Ford Headquarters. I have decided to refer you into the training program of Marine Trainee’s at the Marine Ford Headquarters” Z spoke in a rough voice. Smoker was overwhelmed by the news. Being referred by the legendary ‘Black Arm’ Zephyr, Smoker didn’t know what to say.

“Thank you, for the opportunity but why me?” Smoker asked. Z didn’t reply and simply brought out a screen and played a video to him.

Smoker saw something really amazing and new. X Drake was being thrashed by what seemed to by a gigantic ape made of

“T-that’s me?!” Smoker was dumbfounded and shocked. That giant ape was made of white cloud and only he had the ability to turn his body into cloud.

“Yes, that is you. After what your opponent said, it a trigger to your transformation and this is the so called Initial Awakening.” Z spoke. Smoker was confused since from what he recalled, awakening a devil fruit is not such an easy process. From his eyes, Z understood what Smoker was thinking and explained.

“Each Devil Fruit has different Awakening Tiers and different requirements for it. Some Devil Fruits needed to be trained extensively, while other needed a change of mentality or just like yours, a strong emotion is needed to be awakened. Before you were what is called an Unawakened and your Devil Fruit didn’t have any significant ability but after your match, you went through the Initial Awakening and your Devil Fruit’s power and potential was revealed”

Smoker comprehended what Z said. He realized this world will not be similar to the anime. There will be many unexplained and new things that he would come across.

“So, my ability is to transform into a giant ape?” Smoker asked. Z laughed “Ha~ha that’s for you to find out” and went out of Smoker’s room. Smoker could already infer from that laugh that it wasn’t the case.

Smoker began thinking about his future. He was going to be a Marine, a force that fight for justice against injustice but he really knew what Marines actually were. Even if he knew the true face of Marines, he’d rather be one of them then be named a pirate.

So i have noticed that quite a few people disliked the back story of the mc. This novel is going to be a dark one so you can expect murder, **** etc to be in the story.

I intended to say this in the last chapter but i forgot. I am going to buff the eff outta smoker. He’s gonna be op, like really op but not to the extent that he would be able to face Akainu, World Goverment, Yonko etc in a few chapters but among his peers, he will be op. I will make Smoker gradually gain power, not instant power but fast gradual not slow gradual if you know what i mean.
