Trapped In Time - Chapter 112
Neil informed them that the incident had happened 10 years ago. Because Lilly was his only child, he somehow pulled his energy together to become an Orb.
She had grown up in this silent town and was mostly spending her time here in the caves. She rarely went home as she had found a cave where she had set up equipment to do a reverse time machine which would reverse his atoms to give him back his body. She has full confidence that she will achieve her goal one day. She was working on this theory and spending all her time in the hidden cave doing experiments. She was now a mature young woman and spending all her time in the cave was not good.
Lilly was a shy girl but extremely intelligent. She had seen tragedy very closely. Her mother had died when she was 5 years of age. Her father was a mother and a father to her. She completed her schooling with good marks. As her interest was in science, she got admitted to Town M’s University. She completed her college education and went on to study further. She wanted to be a scientist and had studied molecular biology and she did well studying it. This is that branch of biology that deals with the structure and function of the macromolecules (e.g. proteins and nucleic acids) essential to life. She was also studying about nanotrites, those tiny, molecular “robots” which injected into a host organism is capable of enhancing or suppressing a wide range of biological functions.
(He also explained about body composition and analysis of chemical elements present, molecular type e.g., water, protein, fats (or lipids), hydroxylapatite (in bones), carbohydrates (such as glycogen and glucose), tissue type, cell type, bacteria residing in the normal human gastrointestinal tract. Then there are the elements oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus. five other elements which are potassium, sulfur, sodium, chlorine, and magnesium. All 11 elements are necessary for life. The remaining elements are trace elements, a dozen or more of which are thought to be necessary for life, etc. Number of Atoms in the body etc. For details please see Chapter 57 Lilly Part 1 and Chapter 58 Lilly Part 2)
She had taken the sample of hair from her father’s clothes at home. From his DNA she worked her way to bring him back to life by extracting his atoms from the air and reassembling them into a body. His Orb was always with her.
Lilly was very happy to meet the group that had come to their Utopia from the above city. She was happy to meet the huge number of Orbs and Mono too who was a scientist like herself. All the Orbs were crowding around her and the Off-white Orb of Neil, her father, who was their colleague. The Orbs were all white with white light but the Orb of Neil was off white. This was perhaps due to the trauma he had undergone when he was changed into Neil’s atoms.
When the Orbs had finished their meeting dance, Mono asked her as to why she had not turned into a statue when the Orbs used their hypnotizers?
Lilly replied that her workplace was insulated against any hypnotizer apparatus. So, when the Orbs froze everyone in all the towns it did not affect her. This gadget, being used by the Orbs, was also in her possession given to her by her father. She had already replenished the crystals in her hypnotizing apparatus. She also explained that the crystals used in the ones being carried by the Orbs will finish soon as they had been used in other towns. After all, the hypnotizing apparatus being carried by the Orbs would be needed in Town M to finish pending tasks.
She further added that she did not mean any harm to anyone and was glad that her father and his colleagues in all the town had been liberated from the huge brain where they had been made to serve even after their death. She was also happy that the political prisoners and the scientists had been released from jails and sent home in all the towns.
She then wanted to make a deal with Mono that she would help them if he would help her with the reversal experiment which is almost at the last stage of the trial.
Before Mono could answer, she asked everyone to follow her to see her workplace. She led them to the tunnel that was facing the opposite side to the tunnel that led into the town. The opposite tunnel led to the outer cave an exact replica of the one they had camped in on the outer side of Town M. She said that her workplace was a 7 minutes walk.
This tunnel was on the same pattern and seemed to be identical to the one they had taken while exploring the tunnel when they found Mono. All the students were comparing and they even found the few steps going up. These tunnels seem to have been made in all the towns but all of them do not lead directly into the Time experiment cave. The tunnel to the Time experiment cave is hidden by a rock-like curtain. It is only in Town M that the curtain had been left open.
Lilly looked at Mono and asked him as to why he had deliberately left the curtain open?
Mono replied that he wanted to meet the people from the cities above, talk to them, help them and also get to know about their life, etc. He added that he did no wrong. Actually, instead of helping them they helped him as well as the people of Utopia.
Lilly responded that he was probably right. Their ancestors had thought they were creating the perfect world that was beyond petty things and look at what was achieved while living in isolation for the last 250 years? It was pathetic.
Mono has agreed and said that slowly the Utopians had become like what they never wanted to become.
I had interrupted the conversation and said that it was human to make mistakes, but we should learn from our mistakes and try to become better human beings.
