Trapped In Time - Chapter 36
As per the plan, they needed to start it from the Town that was at the very end. The towns were laid out in a linear manner and the town that was at the periphery needed to be visited first. Then they would work inwards through Town J, Town K, the abandoned Town L (to ensure release the Orbs of the scientists trapped in the abandoned lab where the Time Machine was being built and ensure destruction of the Time machine and machinery if any). Finally, they would return to Town M to release of the freedom fighters and political prisoners as well as the arrest of the current Administrator and his coterie of corrupt persons. This would require more effort and detailed planning and more time. So, it was left to the last.
“Let us proceed. We, scientists, had made a system of tunnels to interconnect all the towns. We will not be going above and walking across. It would take too long.” Mono informed everyone.
“You all will not require your backpacks or your tent equipment or the utensils. So kindly keep them in the storeroom, behind the tunnel. There is a hidden door there. You need to look carefully.” Mono said and led them to the hidden entrance.
Everyone went to the hidden door which Mono had opened, they went inside and placed their backpacks and the tent bags. Then they took out their water bottles.
Tina showed her water bottle to Mono with a questioning look.
“Yes, you can carry your water bottles if you want. We do have pure mineral water here which is pure mineral water that comes from the mountains. There are a few bottles in every car we will be traveling in.”
“We will be using four electric cars moving in our travel tunnels. The electric energy used is harnessed from the small waterfalls at all the towns. We will reach in half an hour as our cars go very fast. It is approximately 200 km away on the other side of the snow covered mountains.”
After they left the storeroom, they proceeded to the tunnel leaving the inner cave, the one the 7 scientists had taken. The 75 Orbs led the way. After walking for 10 minutes, they took a left turn and came into an area where there were a number of cars.
Some persons, probably Engineers, were seen as statues in various stages of action. One seemed to be working on the computer; another seemed to be checking a few wires. The third was drinking water and the glass was raised towards his mouth. The fourth was in the process of walking away from the parked cars, one left leg was behind and the right leg was about touch the floor but had not touched.
It was a strange sight as if all the 4 persons had become statues.
The Orbs rushed to cover their presence.
Mono was little worried and informed the two Orbs (of his father and grandfather), who were hovering near his head, that they all needed to be covered by the Orbs immediately not afterward. The Orbs needed to be upfront of them and the rest be behind all of them. They would need to occupy the sides also in case they were in an area where there were people on the sides.
They should not be seen by the statues as these statues were in various stages of slow motion in which each second was equivalent to one minute. They could see and maybe remember to recall these images once they become normalized. That would be after their plan was executed.
They did not have the forgetting light that the ‘Men in Black’ possessed so they had to take precautions. The group of trekkers would ultimately leave to go to their city but Mono was conspicuous due to his height and built. The statues would remember him as the ringleader. There could be trouble later if any of these statues turn up to be supporters of the Administrator and his gang.
The Orbs understood the problem and the concern was conveyed via telepathy to the other Orbs by the Orb of Mono’s father.
They all sat in 4 cars. Mono sat in the first car along with Luke, Sunny, and Danny. Sherpa sat in the second car along with Ben and Chris. Zia sat in the third car with Zoya, Nanu, and Shana. Zen sat in the fourth car along with Tina and Cathy.
The Orbs did not need cars. They just hovered above the cars in a ring-like manner. The group noticed that there was no steering wheel in any of the cars. The cars did not have wheels but glided on a thick steel rod like aperture. Mono pressed a few buttons in the lead car and all the cars started moving together with one another through the long tunnel.
The cars were well made without steering wheels. They could see the speedometer in front adjacent to the panel which had a lot of buttons. They were asked, through a loudspeaker system in each car, not to press any buttons as all the cars were controlled by the lead car. Such action, if attempted by anyone, even by mistake, would affect diversion of that car elsewhere.
The group members understood the announcement. They all knew how drastic the results would be if they did not follow instructions.
There was nothing to see outside except a long winding tunnel which went on and on. The sides of the tunnel were having lights at regular intervals to ensure that the tunnel would not be in dark. The journey was quite tedious as there was nothing to do. Some persons took a short nap, others were thinking about themselves or about what was to happen at Town I.
Within 25 minutes they reached the landing pad at the arrival tunnel of Town I. The cars stopped at their respective slots and the doors opened. The Orbs were alert this time and everyone was surrounded by the Orbs emitting white light.
They got out of the cars and started to follow Mono. They all saw three hazy statues in various stages of doing something. It was just like what they had seen when they had reached the departure tunnel at Town M for Town I. Since this was the town that was far away, it was less on the visiting list. Hence, there were fewer people at the entry tunnel to Town I.
Mono and the group of the trekkers moved out to the exit tunnel surrounded by the halo of white light emitted by the Orbs who were surrounding them.
Mono carried a map with him as they moved through the tunnel. After 10 minutes of walking, they came to a similar inner cave that had about 6 scientists sitting in front of machines as statues in various stages of doing work. Another scientist was standing near the huge pulsating brain which was hanging at the other end of the wall of the cave. He was standing like a statue.
The same two telephone booths like structures could be seen like of ‘Dr. Who’ series on television. They had glass covers too. These were connected with wires to the computers and the computers were in turn connected with wires to the huge pulsating brain.
