Trapped On A Death World - Chapter 30
A screen overhead showed a winged Darkling wielding a magic sword pierceing through an impossible barrier, before stabbing into the Elder Spawn. The world deformed; qi became visible as it was dragged into the darkling and the sword, and suddenly his drone was flipping in the air. Dol reached into a bag and tossed a handful of pills in his mouth. Qi rushed into his system and he focused on the drone. Slowly, the artefact steadied under the heat and wind.
He steadied it and watched the proceedings. Each pill recovered his former power and enhanced his knightly status. This was what he lived for.
Despite the betrayalof his comrads, his struggle to find a place for his followers, and the mechanations of his benefactors Dol felt like everything was finally in position. The destruction of his former home had been completed. The tender was lain and the spark approached.
Dol popped a funny colored pill in his mouth and caught his minder watching the screen. “He’s impressive isn’t he. Not many can claim to have wiped out an Elder Spawn with one blow.” His minder grunted. “It looks like everything is under control, why don’t you leave and take the night off.” Dol said. His minder snorted and turned from the screen.
“We spent a lot of resources on you. Some would say too many.” The dark figure in a styled coat said.
“You have to spend money to make money. It’d be hard to depose the squids without your help. Why don’t you get rid of them yourself?” Dol said. The figure straightened.
“You know why.” Dol grinned, he really did.
“Then let me do my job and don’t worry about the little guy. I’ll watch out for him. You know, it would be easier if you took him off my hands. I’m tired of using kid gloves.” Dol said.
“If we’re exposed now the game will be up.” His minder said. Dol rolled his eyes. A human jester he was growing accustomed to.
“Maxo, I’ll handle it, take five and relax. I’ll make sure he’s ferried to you after the negations are through.” Dol said. The kid must die. Now that he knew why they wanted him; it would be in Dol’s best interests to kill him.
He heard his minder’s phone ring. The creature fished it out of his pocket and left the room. Dol let out a sigh and began to plan. After turning the drone around he spotted the diplomats coming from another hill. That wasn’t about to happen. With rhe force of his considerable will, he reached through the drone and blasted the horses pulling the carriage. They quickly began to tumble downhill.
The wards were almost in place and the sacrifices were gathered. All he needed now was diplomacy to fail and his plan would come together. He wasn’t planning to remain at the mercy of his minders for long.
I shattered the ground causing junk to avalanche. Aura rush poured into my body as I prepared to catch the enemy with my full speed. Black and crimson aura spread across my body while I began powering up. My body hovered with aura alone while I prepared to catch my prey.
A hand on my shoulder stopped my charge. “Don’t bother we’re members of a diplomatic party. Being seen is what we want.” Elena said. I sighed, closed my wings and placed Diabla back on my back. It was all to get behind enemy lines.
Diabla floated beside me with her arms crossed. “We need more training.”
I sighed. There wasn’t any time to train. I had all the information I needed to get ahead but no time to do it. Then there was the scroll of golden series spells I hadn’t read. I had several texts of spells I hadn’t dug into. I needed to invest in Black series spells more. Wyrm was great for flying enemies at an ambush. There was more to spells than energy attacks and creature summoning. Enchantment, artefacts, and area control were the bread and butter of any spell caster.
I wasn’t using my full potential. My stats were good, but I needed more than stats. I had the advantage of dealing with other back woods savages like myself. Doppel didn’t want to kill me. The first blessed one had been stupid. When she let me get my hand around her throat it was over.
We began making our way back to camp. I looked over at Helen. She’d lived among Mind Flayers all her life, and some questions were biting at me.
Elena sighed. “Ask your questions.” She said.
“How did you know I had questions?” I asked.
Her aura flashed purple for a moment before returning to its normal white before vanishing. “How often do Mind Flayers and Darklings couple?” I asked.
I held my breath for her answer. “My father was a Mind Flayer. Though to be a Mind Flayer both of your parents must be Mind Flayers. Fucking one doesn’t count. Its how they ensure we can’t gain any power and flip the script on their society.” She opened a golden eye and smiled at me. “Do you have a thing for your tamer?” I stared at her blankly. “That one is a big girl, those big egg laying hips are impressive. Not that a blame you they give the best blow jobs, they’re to die for.” She said with a chuckle.
A can laid in my path, so I kicked it. “Why do they eat their lovers?” I asked.
Elena shrugged her shoulders. “Don’t get me wrong, they don’t eat other Mind Flayers.” She tapped her chin. “It’s probably a status thing. I wouldn’t recommend sleeping with one. You might survive a few rounds but at the end of the day their females are brutal and vain.” I didn’t think Gwen or Doppel were like that.
I raised my hand and blasted out with a field of Black Static. A colony of roaches died and quickly turned to dust before they could ambush me.
My attention returned to Elena. “I have to judge that with my own eyes.” I said.
“Your funeral. At least your genes will live on with me. That is if my own master doesn’t get hungry after fucking me.” Elena said. I opened my mouth and closed it. “I’m joking.”
“Not my kind of humor.” I muttered.
The second we entered camp Doppel approached me. She looked me up and down before extending her tentacles to inspect me. The same tentacles that ripped through skulls and slurped their contents dry gently inspected my body. They felt soft to my skin. Each pass of them felt lubed and delicate. After a moment, she released me from her embrace.
Her tentacles returned to their normal long hair like position. She smiled gently to me with her human like face before it hardened. “I didn’t give you permission to extract his seed.”
Tyrannus raised his hands. “I’ll admit sending my ling to seduce yours was a hair over the line. He’s hardly a prized specimen. Most studs are well known fighters, I’ve never seen him do battle.” He said.
Doppel erupted with her purple aura. Waves of psychic might flashed around her tearing apart their camp.
Rudalpho stumbled forward. “Let’s calm down before things go too far.” He yelled over the wind. “I’m certain what Tyrannus means to say is, he feels just offal about sending his ling while she was in heat. He’ll be more than willing to share half the royals from the offspring with you.” Rudalpho glared at a furious Tyrannus. “It’s only fair.” Rudalpho said. Slowly, Doppel relaxed.
Tyrannus kept his tentacles still. “Yes, half of the royalties will go to house Aster.” He said. Doppel slowly gave her ascent.
Well we wouldn’t see a dime of that. She wasn’t of house Aster and I wasn’t going to allow any of my children to be slaves. Fortunately, I had two years. That was plenty of time to rapidly gain power.
Unfortunately, there was a soft cap for experience. Each kill gave less the stronger the killer. It had something to do with the conservation of mass. That’s how it is normally. Soon the only way to grow stronger would be through training and skills. Training would be the long grind.
If I wanted to keep gaining levels, I’d have to go into more dangerous areas and fight powerful foes. Everything had a limit.
Suddenly, Tyrannus returned to normalcy. “A scout, well at least we know where to go now. Elena go ahead and lead the way.”
“Ah, good we can finally put this whole business behind us. Lady Aster are you excited. Not many get to witness the power of the empire at work. I’ll bend these barbarians with our superior culture and power. Not only will I take back Gwen, but I’ll also force them to pay us tribute for years to come. That will teach them not to kidnap my lady wife.” Rudalpho said.
My eyes widened at the implication. This wasn’t happening. She couldn’t marry this guy. “What is her name my lord?” Doppel asked.
“Claudia Black my lady, sister to Tyrannus Black here.” The noble placed a hand on Tyrannus’s shoulder.
I wanted to reach for my blade and cut this Mind Flayer in two. A powerful surge of telekinesis blasted the Noble across the ground. Rudalpho tumbled before he stopped himself with telekinesis.
He climbed to his feet and sucked in a troubled breath. “I’m sorry my good brother. That was a violation of your personal space.” The noble choked on his words.
