Trash Techniques Are Actually Pretty Efficient - Volume 1 Chapter 54
“I have something to discuss with you guys.” Luo Zi Da put the stack of papers and the stone cube down.
The atmosphere immediately became heavy.
“I heard from your proctor yesterday… he caught one of you cheating.”
All of the students drew sharp breaths.
No! Is our last hope gone as well?
“Don’t worry guys, I’m not suspecting any of you.” As he said that, Luo Zi Da pointed at both his eyes, and then at Lan Xiang, who was minding his own business.
The students were unsure what that gesture meant. Did that mean that their adviser would keep a closer eye on them? Or only on Lan Xiang?
Soon, the students passed the papers towards their back, one by one.
Luo Zi Da stared intently at Lan Xiang. Although Ning Fan didn’t mention who cheated at the test yesterday, he immediately suspected this incompetent student to be the culprit. After all, he could still recall the first day of the exams when he caught this student doing shady sideways glances!
When all of the papers arrived at their destinations, the teacher looked at the clock. “Okay, you may start-”
The door swung open, and behind it were three students, all of them sweaty and nervous.
“Aiya, why have you only arrived just now?”
Lu Xifa, Zhang Xiaoqin, and Ye Qingle looked at the wall clock in the classroom. They were about 3 minutes late.
Ye Qingle felt the gazes of the two other girls. “Hey, it isn’t my fault! I tried my best… If anything it’s Xifa’s fault!”
“Hah? Why me? I needed like what, one second to bring us here?”
“Guys, calm down. No one is at fault, let’s just be careful next time.” Zhang Ying nudged the two towards the classroom.
Lu Xifa went to the teacher and bowed. “Teacher, we’re sorry we’re late!”
Luo Zi Da looked at how sweaty these girls were. Not to mention how pretty they were. He couldn’t punish them with their celebrity-like faces.
“It’s fine.” Luo Zi Da looked at the few blank test papers left on his table. There were exactly three.
He gave them to the three girls. “Head to your seats now. Don’t be late next time.”
As they walked to their seats, both Ren Weiwei and Lan Xiang looked at them suspiciously, with ‘what did you do…’ written on their faces.
Lu Xifa mouthed a word, “Later.”
Lan Xiang shook his head in disapproval. He turned his attention back to the test.
“Hmm, easy enough. I can do this in 15 minutes.”
He took out his pen and started writing.
15 minutes later, he placed the pen on his upper lip and balanced it, relaxing on the back of his chair. He wasn’t really in the mood to sleep even though he felt tired.
Luo Zi Da zealously watched him, cheering when the pen fell down from his lip. He felt as if the pen was on his side.
…..
Soon enough, the whole class got through the last two exams — Language and Chemistry. The two hardest subjects.
Well, for the rest of the class anyway. As for Lan Xiang and his friends, they found the exams to be a breeze.
“And that’s a wrap!” Luo Zi Da received the last test paper. He fixed up the messy stack of papers with a disappointed smile.
Unfortunately, even though he had watched Lan Xiang for two full hours, he still wasn’t able to catch him in action.
Meanwhile, the other students freely copied and compared answers. Their impression of Luo Zi Da rose, while Ning Fan’s fell.
“Students, settle down, settle down. It’s time for the last test.”
Luo Zi Da lifted the stone cube full of cracks up with his two hands and placed it down on the teacher’s desk.
“Listen, class. It’s time for your cultivation assessment.”
As GeSun High was the most prestigious school in Hongliu City, only they had access to cultivation materials. The other schools were not allowed to teach anything related to cultivation to their students.
Of course, as Lan Xiang was part of the Lan family, the principal was honored to welcome him into this school, albeit in the lowest class.
“This cubic stone is called the Qi Appraisal Device, or QAD for short. Although many of you might not have seen it, it’s very common in the capital.”
That was true. Even Lan Xiang, who had no knowledge of cultivation, had seen this handy device multiple times already. He was indifferent to the cube, as were Lu Xifa and the others.
Ren Weiwei, on the other hand, was as excited as the other students when they heard of the name of the artifact. “It’s the CHAD!”
However, after a while, they learned of the implication of the teacher bringing it out and despaired. It was time for the Cultivation Test!
The Cultivation Test was probably the most important test in the whole course. Fail any other subject, and the school might still allow you to pass. Fail the Cultivation Test, however, and expulsion was the only fate.
Luo Zi Da sneered as he saw the distraught expressions of his dear students. Heh, these weak little brats. He stretched his awareness to detect the cultivation levels of his dear students.
“The transfer students and Student Lan’s cultivations… I can’t sense them. Well, the former is probably because they’re stronger, while Student Lan just has no cultivation at all. The rest all have a cultivation of or lower than Elemental Awareness Realm.” Luo Zi Da appraised the class himself before the appraisal device.
He continued amidst the students’ chatter.
“It’s simple to use, actually. Let me give you a demonstration how it works.
“Firstly, you need to place your hand like this…”
Luo Zi Da placed his hand on the rough surface of the QAD. A subtle glow came from his hand and into the cracks, which started glowing a variety of colors.
“Woah, it’s so fantastical!” “It’s like an ancient artifact!” “This is exactly the kind of thing I expected from the cultivation world.”
All of a sudden, a robotic female voice came from the stone.
“Cultivation Level: 5. Inner Practice Realm.”
The students’ fantasies shattered in the blink of an eye. What kind of ancient artifact has a text-to-speech voice?!
“Aiya, what did you expect we would do? Read the color of the cracks? We’re in modern times now.” Luo Zi Da shook his head. “The manufacturers of this device just thought it was a cool design. Also, the color of the glow from the cracks is completely arbritary.”
The students sighed. The real world sure is boring, I’ll go back to reading s.
