Trash Techniques Are Actually Pretty Efficient - Volume 1 Chapter 55
“Okay, I know. Reality is often disappointing.” Luo Zi Da took his hand off the ChAD. The glow dissipated.
“Now that you know how to use it, I’ll be calling you one by one.”
The students bit their lips. The passing grade was Level 1, Elemental Awareness. Despite their fervent cultivation at night, there seemed to be no end in sight.
“An Xiaoyi.”
A timid girl with pigtails stood up and walked towards the desk.
“Place your hand on the device.”
“O- okay.”
She felt the surface of the stone cube on her palm.
“Ouch-!”
The cube sucked a small bit of qi, which left her pricked, akin to gripping her palm around a cactus plant, albeit only for a split second.
Soon enough, the voice sounded out once more.
“Cultivation Level: 1. Elemental Awareness Realm.”
The timid girl let out a sigh of relief, walking back to her seat.
“Okay, next…”
The next student walked up and, by the instruction of Luo Zi Da, placed his hand on the cube.
“Cultivation Level: 0.5. Not Even Close Bro.”
The result dispirited the student. He headed for his chair to cry.
“Next…”
Lan Xiang stood by, watching his classmates get called one by one. He felt no annoyance seeing some pass, and no gratification seeing some fail. It was pure indifference.
“Next, Lan Xiang.”
The students sneered. Heh, it’s the trash’s turn. They all watched with great interest.
Lan Xiang yawned as he walked towards the desk. He took one of his hands out of his pocket.
Luo Zi Da didn’t expect much from Lan Xiang. Actually, he did expect something. He expected him to fail miserably. “Place your hand on the cube.”
Lan Xiang looked at the cube. He shrugged before placing his hand. No need to hide my cultivation, I guess.
The cracks of the stone started glowing.
Come on, come on… The students cheered for Lan Xiang to get a result of ‘Cultivation Level: 0. None at All Bro’ because only then would they feel good about themselves.
Luo Zi Da was also part of that group. He watched the cube… shaking?
He could sense that something was wrong. “Wait, Student Lan, take your hand off–”
The robotic female voice was distorted as it said, “O-VEr-flow…”
Luo Zi Da quickly pulled Lan Xiang’s hand off and pushed him back, after which he activated a technique: Air Sphere Technique!
Boom!
The air sphere around the cube muffled the sound of the explosion. Luo Zi Da’s air sphere was not strong enough, so some flew out into the class anyway. Luckily, no one got hit.
He deactivated his air sphere.
Luo Zi Da panted, as the air sphere cost him a lot of his qi. He faced Lan Xiang, who was behind him. “Are you fine?”
Lan Xiang absentmindedly nodded.
On the desk, all that was left was a pile of charred machine parts, as well as some rocks. A black smog slowly rose from the pile.
The smoke detectors triggered, wetting everyone in the class…
Luo Zi Da tried to think of what went wrong.
“It’s probably just a malfunction? But to happen on Lan Xiang’s turn… I can only say how unsatisfied I am right now. I should just call the IT department.”
Meanwhile, the students, even Lu Xifa and the others, glared at Lan Xiang. It was 100% his fault that the cube exploded and triggered the safety mechanism.
Lu Xifa, Ye Qingle, and Zhang Xiaoqin knew exactly why the cube had exploded. Right before it did, it mentioned an overflow. Obviously, that was because of Lan Xiang’s cultivation level exceeding that of the cube’s limit.
The other students blamed him for destroying the cube with his cultivation that didn’t exist.
…..
Half an hour later.
All of the wet students were allowed to change into their gym clothing as a special exception. Lan Xiang didn’t change; he didn’t get wet after all.
Luo ZI Da explained to the mechanic that the cube exploded, but not before saying the word “overflow”.
After a short break, the students were all in their seats once more.
“Okay…” Luo Zi Da scratched his head. “The mechanic gave us this larger ChAD that supposedly has a higher limit.”
On the desk was a cube, about twice as large as the previous one. Contrary to the other’s design, this one was sleek and modern looking, going with a smooth and metallic surface instead.
After observing that there was no problem with the cube, Luo Zi Da decided to resume the test.
“Lan Xiang, come here again.”
“Wait!” Lu Xifa raised her hand.
“Ah, Student Lu, what is it?”
“That ChAD can only go up to the 9th level of cultivation.” She crossed her arms.
With her knowledge of the ChAD’s limit and Lan Xiang’s actual cultivation level, the cube would surely explode once more.
“Ah? Isn’t that high enough?”
“Erm, I mean, there’s a crack on its side!” Lu Xifa pointed nowhere.
“What? Where?” Luo Zi Da walked around the cube.
Lu Xifa winked at Ye Qingle. The latter rolled her eyes before discreetly snapping her fingers. A second later, she snapped her fingers again.
“There’s no crack here, what do you mean?”
“Uh, teach… it’s on the front. The crack, I mean.” A random student pointed out.
“The front? How could it be on the front? I was just… there…” Luo Zi Da widened his eyes.
Indeed, there was a crack. A crack as large as the Gr*nd Canyon.
“…What the f*ck.”
Lu Xifa gave a thumbs up to Ye Qingle.
Luo Zi Da had no choice but to call the mechanic once more. The latter was furious. He only just replaced the cube, how come it was split in half?!
“I, I really have no idea! You can check the CCTV!”
“Sir mechanic, just to be safe, I think we need to use the ChAD that goes up to, I don’t know, the 12th level?” Lu Xifa suggested.
The mechanic glared at Luo Zi Da before gifting him with another ChAD. It wasn’t really a cube anymore, it was more of a pillar, as tall as Luo Zi Da.
As soon as the mechanic left the classroom, Luo Zi Da locked the door, closed the windows and curtains, and looked around the room cautiously. “Is there… a poltergeist or something?”
Eventually, he calmed down, but he still remained alert.
“Lan Xiang, come here…”
Lan Xiang also had no idea how the other ChAD cracked in two. He suspected that Lu Xifa might have had something to do with it.
He walked towards the pillar-like structure.
“Um, where do I place my hand?”
Luo Zi Da pressed a hidden button on the pillar. He could not care less about Lan Xiang’s result anymore. Thoughts of escaping this room filled his mind.
A secret compartment with a hand scanner appeared on the center of the pillar. Lan Xiang thought it was pretty cool.
He casually placed his hand on the scanner.
The students perked their ears. This was it! The moment they’ve been waiting for!
Luo Zi Da also took a peek. Even though he was afraid of the poltergeist, he was still curious as to what Lan Xiang’s result would be.
Soon enough, a voice came out of the pillar. It was different to the robotic female voice of the first cube. This time, the voice had tone, intonation, and most importantly, it was s.e.xy.
Of course, that wasn’t what the students paid attention to. They widened their eyes and their jaws fell to the floor when they heard the result.
“Cultivation Level: 10. Elemental Mastery Realm.”
“Oh, Elemental Mastery. How neat…” Luo Zi Da really couldn’t take much more— ah, he fainted on the spot.
In the obscure corner, the bespectacled student grabbed his glasses and wiped them with a cloth before putting them on again.
His seatmate was stunned. It was a voice, why do you need to wipe your glasses to confirm?!
“It- it must be a malfunction.”
“That’s right, there’s no way Trash Xiang would get a score as high as that!”
Lan Xiang turned around and faced his classmates, who suddenly fell silent when they saw the ‘really?’ expression on his face.
He took off his hand and placed it again.
“Cultivation Level: 10. Elemental Mastery.”
One more time.
“Cultivation Level: 10. Elemental Mastery.”
“Important things need to be repeated three times.” Lan Xiang wiped the nonexistent dust off his hands as he walked back to his seat.
The silence was… kind of awkward.
“Ah, ahaha… it’s my turn now, right?” Lu Xifa pointed at herself.
