Trial Marriage Husband : I Am CEO’s Plaything - Chapter 787
“Oscar, you can’t tell your dad about this!” Greta said firmly and in a slightly trembling voice.
Seeing the panicked look on her face, as well as hearing her mother’s request not to tell Peter, Oscar suddenly realized something. Actually, from the beginning until now, he had suspected something was off about his mother. Call it a child’s hunch or whatsoever, he felt that Greta and Michael had a special relationship.
Oscar knew if he told Peter about this matter, his parents’ marriage would be at stake. Even though Peter loves Michael as his sibling, it doesn’t mean that the man would give up the Petersson Communication company to Michael.
The company that Peter had raised and protected since he graduated from college might go bankrupt if Michael took over!
“Why are you so panicked?” Oscar asked while tilting his head, “Are you afraid that Papa will find out about this and scold you?”
“N-no. I just feel guilty for giving our shares to your uncle. You know that your Papa has retired and is now enjoying the days after retirement with me, right? I don’t want your dad to fall sick and think about what I did..”
At first, Oscar was only suspicious about Greta’s relationship with Michael. But hearing the whimpers that escaped the woman’s lips made his conviction even stronger.
No matter what relationship Greta and Michael had, Oscar had to find out!
He didn’t know what to say at that moment. He could only frown and prefer to walk past Greta. But before his hand could touch the doorknob of the bedroom, he felt his arm being held tightly.
“Please don’t tell your dad about this matter, okay? Let me tell him at the right time,” Greta pleaded in a voice that sounded pitiful, “For now, let the three of us keep this a secret. Me, you, and your uncle.”
Before Oscar could react by letting go of Greta’s grip, the woman stood in front of him. She purposely blocked the way so her son wouldn’t escape before they agreed not to tell Peter anything.
“Oscar, if you still respect me as your mother, you must listen to what I tell you to do.” Even though the woman’s tone was firm, her hand that was still touching Oscar’s arm trembled a little. Not to mention her panicked eyes. “You definitely can’t tell him about this matter!”
“Even though I don’t tell him today, how long do you think this secret will last? You know that the news about the company’s open meeting has reached all corners of the world, right? Technology is now advanced! He will be able to find out the news now, tomorrow, or maybe later tonight.”
“As long as you don’t tell him about this matter, everything will be fine. If he finds out, do you want me to stay at your house for a while? Because I know your dad will definitely forbid me to stay at home for the next few days.” Greta replied quickly.
Oscar wanted to answer and make a fool of his mother’s attitude. If she knew what she did would drive her out of the house and even the family, why would Greta still do that?
Why did she give her and Peter’s shares to Michael?
“You know that I have lived with him for as long as we’ve been married. Do you have the heart to see me, your mother, getting kicked out of the house?” Greta continued in a pitiful voice. So pitiful that maybe anyone who heard it would break their hearts.
Except for Oscar.
He kept a straight face and looked at Greta with bored and disgusted eyes. For the next few moments, the man continued to be silent until finally, the sound of the neighbor’s pet dog barking brought him back to his senses.
“Tell me the truth. Do you feel guilty for giving my uncle your shares, or are you afraid of being kicked out of this house? Are you afraid you will be banished from the family without any money or jewelry to sell to survive?”
Hearing Oscar’s question suddenly made Greta’s eyes widen in surprise. “Oscar, how dare you say that to my face…!”
“Ah? Is what I asked true? You’re afraid of being poor and having to live on the side of the road, right?” Oscar asked, trying to exacerbate the tense atmosphere between them. “If you don’t want me to tell dad about this, you have to answer my question first.”
Without wasting any more time, Greta quickly replied, “Okay!”
“What’s your relationship with my uncle?”
Hearing Oscar’s question made Greta’s body tremble violently. Without realizing it, she let go of her grip on Oscar’s arm and felt her soul fly high into the sky. She would rather die from being swallowed by a crocodile than to answer it!
“Oscar, what do you mean by asking me like that!?” Greta asked, trying to cover up her panic, “I and your uncle don’t have any relationship other than being in-laws! Don’t just accuse me carelessly!”
“I don’t know what your uncle said to you to make you ask me such a crazy thing. But one thing you need to know is, don’t believe anything he tells you! You have to trust me in this, Oscar.”
Oscar’s desire to go find Peter and tell the man all the trouble that was going on right now was overwhelming. As if there is nothing that can prevent him from doing that. But even so, there was a feeling that rose within his heart. Either because he felt some pity or maybe too lazy to argue with Greta any longer, his heart softened and the tension between his eyes relaxed.
In the end, Oscar decided not to tell Peter about it in the near future. Let time tell the man everything. In addition, he is also sure that Peter will find out everything, either through TV news broadcasts or his retirement friends.
Oscar slightly pushed Greta away and opened the bedroom’s door. Before his footsteps could carry him down the stairs, the man turned his head for a moment.
“This is the last time I will help you. I’m reminding you one last time, Papa will know soon enough. Not from me, but from other people or news broadcasts. So I hope you have prepared yourself to answer him later.” Oscar said coldly.
Before his mother could react, the man had turned around and walked away leaving Greta alone.
