Trial Marriage Husband : I Am CEO’s Plaything - Chapter 801
“Hello?” A familiar female voice came from Oscar’s cell phone speaker.
Oscar leaned his back against the back of the chair, “Hi, Lisa.”
“What is it? Why are you suddenly calling me?” Lisa asked, her voice sounded worried.
“I have some good news, but I’d better tell you in person than on a phone call like this.” Oscar replied with a small chuckle, he knew that Lisa didn’t like it when she had to wait to hear what he meant. “And oh, I just wanted to tell you that I can’t pick you up at the office this afternoon. Or, maybe just if you want to wait a bit, I still have some business to attend to.”
Even though Lisa was on the other end of the line, the woman still rolled her eyes, as if Oscar was right in front of her. Lisa couldn’t wait to hear the news, but if it was a good one, she could just wait a bit.
“Then why are you saying you want to tell me the good news? Seriously, you already know I’m impatient!” Lisa grumbled a bit, “If you can’t pick me up, it’s okay. I can take a taxi.”
Oscar cleared his throat, “We’ll, alright then.”
Not long after, Dani entered and closed the door to Oscar’s room.
“Ah, I’ll call you later, okay?” Oscar said when he saw Dani. Without waiting for a reply from Lisa, the man quickly disconnected their call.
“What is it?” Oscar asked.
“I have called him and told him that you would like to invite him to have dinner together. He immediately agreed to your invitation,” Dani walked over to Oscar’s table and continued, “I’ve also booked a place for your afternoon meal.”
Oscar nodded his head, “Alright. Thank you.”
When the clock on the wall showed that it was half past six in the afternoon, Oscar got up from his chair. The man took the blazer he had placed on the armrest of the sofa and rushed out, followed by Dani from behind. Since dinner with Michael would be at seven past thirty, Oscar didn’t want to be late.
Arriving at the restaurant, Oscar still had not seen the bridge of Michael’s nose. Until the waiter came and handed him the menu, Michael still hadn’t come.
Just as Oscar thought that maybe Michael wouldn’t come, he heard the sound of fast footsteps walking towards him. Not long after, before Oscar could look up, he saw the figure of the man he had been waiting for.
Michael pulled up the chair opposite him. “Oh, I’m late, huh?” He asked in a tone that sounded completely innocent. The man smirked and adjusted his already thin gray hair, “The road was so jammed!”
“It’s okay, You’re usually never late. Since the road was jammed, I can understand it.” Oscar replied slowly, his eyes looking bored.
“Uncle?” Michael asked with a chuckle. “Uncle, huh? Alright then.”
After that, there was no more sound between them. The two were busy looking at the menu book and telling the food they wanted to order to the waiter standing next to the table.
After Oscar and Michael finished ordering food, the waiter lowered his head slightly and went over carrying the menu.
Oscar was not the type to be arrogant and liked to humiliate others in public. He’s also not the type to drop big news without waiting for the right time. So when he heard Michael’s question earlier, the man decided to shut up.
Now that they were alone and there were no waiters around, Oscar had just opened his mouth.
“So what if I call you uncle? You’re really my uncle.”
“That’s true. I’m still your uncle now,” Michael replied which was then followed by laughter. “But it will change when everything is revealed.”
Instead of replying to the man’s words, Oscar laughed and gave a big smile. Not long after, the waiter returned to their table carrying a tray of wine bottles and two wine glasses. Oscar, who was still sitting still and watching Michael’s movements, let the pot-bellied man pour red wine into their glasses.
After Michael finished sipping the red wine from his glass, Oscar sighed. He lowered his head slightly and took the brown envelope that he had placed on the back of the chair. Then the man with clear blue eyes handed the envelope to Michael.
“Don’t be so happy yet,” Oscar began while accompanied by that faintly evil-looking smile, “Try to open it and read it slowly. There is some information you should know.”
Seeing the brown envelope made Michael’s eyebrows automatically lift up. He put the wine glass on the table and took the brown envelope with mixed feelings. Half of him said that the envelope contained the happy news that Oscar had given up fighting and finally wanted to put the Petersson Communications company into his hands.
But half of him was worried about the contents of the brown envelope. What if Oscar finds out the truth?
“What’s this?” Michael asked with a big smile. He tried not to look scared and worried about the contents of the brown envelope.
“Just open it.” Oscar’s reply was short.
For a few moments, Michael was silent and thought as he looked at the brown envelope. He considered whether he should open the envelope now or later. But his curiosity only grew as time went on.
And what Michael had been afraid of all along finally happened. His whole body felt stiff, and his lips were pressed tightly together. Reading the report made him feel like he was forced to drink a deadly poison.
Michael knew there was no time for him to shine anymore. All of his plans have been ruined.
“W-what is this!?” Michael snapped in annoyance as he threw the piece of paper to the side, causing it to fall to the empty table beside theirs, “Don’t be so courageous and think you can fool me! How could I trust this DNA test! It is so obvious that it looks fake!”
The brown envelope was plain, there was no name of the hospital listed or the name of the doctor who wrote the report. Therefore, Michael used the opportunity to deny the results of the DNA test which was actually carried out by Oscar.
“Why would I lie to you?” Oscar asked quietly, “Did I have anything to gain from lying to you?”
