Trope World - Volume 1 Chapter 33 Mission Office Brawl
The mission’s office was quiet. They pulled three crates of basic defense talismans from the counter and went through them. Three inner sect disciples and an elder scanned over hundreds of thousands of talismans. Each talisman had been completed with machine like efficiency. They weren’t perfect but they were clearly the same. It was as if hundreds of hands moved together in unison. Their errors were all the same.
Each crate was around a meter cubed so the paper inside weighed roughly 2.4 metric tons. Those were heavy blocks and they took a long time to fill. I had managed to fill them in a day.

I knew they wouldn’t find a flaw in my talismans. Well not one that made them useless. They weren’t perfect by any means. Some lines were thinner than others, some were fatter, and a few were duds. It wasn’t difficult to tell the duds from the functional product. It was just a matter of insight.
“A deal is a deal, 100 merit points for every 100defense talisman. Unfortunately, we can only pay you 100,000 merit points for an outer disciple mission. Thanks to you we’re going to have to lower the mission price to 25 merit points for 100.” The elder said.
“Can’t I retake the mission and leave 100,000 defense talismans with you.” I asked. The centaur in charge snorted.
“Human, you should have thought about that before you showed up with 3 crates of the talismans. Their needed for the war effort. Think of it like a tax for the protection our walls provide.” Oni hadn’t warned me about the limit of 100,000, but I’ve only ever seen one mission with such a high reward. Sleeping with Gan. I had no evidence to be suspicious of the elder centaur.
“I’ll take the points just add them to my account.” I mumbled feeling the wind cut from my sails.
“Don’t let it get your down. The sect will remember your contribution. I’m sure you’ll be up for promotion the second you hit mid palace building.” I cast my gaze to the mid foundation level inner disciples. I’d recalled Hertha talking about getting promoted soon.
Instead of opening my mouth, I kept silent. This elder was just in the great circle of palace building but his BP was 4b. I would be hard pressed to kill him. “I apologize for wasting your time elder, I’ll take my leave.” I bowed low enough to be respectful and turned my back on the mission pavilion. Before I left, I turned my gaze to the green spirit bow held up on a pedestal. For only 2million merit points it could have been mine.
“Elder what are you going to do with the extra merit points. I can’t believe that worked what a donkey. Maybe we should start calling fools Nimrods after him.” The Elder flexed his qi and smashed down on me with pressure.
“Thank you for your contributions to the sect outer disciple Nimrod, you may leave. The next time you see patriarch Chingis’ bow it will be in may hands.” The elder said. “Perhaps, I’ll give it to one of my favored outer sect disciples.” I turned from the elder centaur and stared at the bow. The spell formations weren’t terribly strong. They were more of a formality. I was certain I could steal it tonight if I wanted it bad enough. I’d even have an alibi. Och wanted me to join her in her apartment. I could dye the bow black. That plan was ruined after I thought about its qi signature. Chingis was a patriarch in the low demon stage. He would know the bow regardless of appearance.
I turned around unsure of what I was going to do. I checked my phantom limb skill. BP was only +49% battle power at level 49. It was a powerful skill. It also had its limits. I couldn’t buff it with other skills yet. Phantom hands took too much concentration to add to them after they numbered in the hundreds.
There was only one rule in the cultivation world. The strong ruled the weak and the weak always sought favor with someone stronger than them. I had Lazarus and Od. More than likely this elder had someone high up. My place in the sect was shaky but it might be shakier if I let myself get rolled over.
“What are you going to do?” The Elder said. I still didn’t know who he was really. I’d never asked his name. Nor did it matter. He forced the pressure of his cultivation on me. For a split second, my dragon opened its eyes and the pressure vanished. There was no kill like overkill.
Boneless arms shot out from the ether. They numbered in the hundred and were blue in color with multiple eyes on them to enhance my ability to see where they were going. These ghostly limbs wrapped around the centaurs subduing them with all the might they possessed. The dragon went back to sleep and I coughed up a mouthful of blood. The Elder roared at the indignity of the situation and flexed his cultivation base against his bindings.
More limbs emerged and wrapped around him. He muttered something, and the shadows emerged and pulled the limbs from his body. He moved like lightning punching me hard enough in the face to lose half my teeth then followed with an upper cut. My body left the ground and he leapt up pulling a mace from his bag of holding. The mace was clearly a spirit weapon and glowed with wood qi. It was clearly powerful and multiplied his BP by 5. 12.5BP bared down on me as the elder prepared to deliver a killing blow.
I pulled my own sword and activated oppressive blade. Before Lucifer gained the five elements it had consumed a vast number of different weapons to keep its fire element in check. Once I merged all five elements into the blade it became nearly perfect. Each element went into the other and suppressed the negative characteristics of the other. Lucifer was my best weapon and it never left my side. When I activated oppressive blade. My sword’s vast abilities increased further. With its earth element my blade could channel quake easily. By compressing that power and Lucifer’s natural heat I’d ramped up my primary weapon to a new level. Unfortunately, I could only hold the skill for 55 seconds before I would collapse from exhaustion.

“You’re not the only one who can enhance their weapon. Flail of God,” The centaur yelled, and his mace glowed brightly. A giant image of a centaur with a massive flat flail rammed down with the mace. It was too much, I’d been outdone, and I knew it. His numbers were higher. I had started this, and I couldn’t stop. My feet touched the ground and I ran forward determined to win.
Lucifer met the giant phantasmal centaur with the flail, and it felt like my shoulders would explode. I bent my blade to the side and forced the force from the flail to fall to the side. Blood exploded from my mouth. And I could hear the Elder centaur laugh. I tapped the flail several times then tumbled away from it. The centaur gasped and hot sticky centaur blood covered the back of my head. I stood up on shaky legs to see the centaur coughing up blood. His construct exploded into motes of light. It seemed there was a backlash from the destruction of the spell.
I covered the distance between us while the centaur was distracted. I needed to destroy his weapon first. I tapped his mace once, twice, and three times. He gasped and I dashed backwards as spirit energy built up as the vibrations did their deadly work shaking the mace. Waving my hand, the crates burst open and my defense talismans came to my defense. A golden barrier appeared around me.
“You did this to yourself. You could have just given me the points I deserved. Their called merit points for a reason.” I yelled out over the cracking sounds. The inner sect members had long since fled when the battle reached far beyond them.
He glared at me before flinging the mace at me before hitting the deck. “Horse apples,” I muttered as the mace hit critical mass and exploded. Green qi filled my field of vision as metal exploded out flaying everything it touched. Fortunately, I had a little over 3million talismans to work with. Just over half a crate.
The explosion was over in a flash with 40% of the talisman’s burning away. If I’d used a talisman compatible shield or a wall, it would have been different. Free floating talismans are vastly weaker than talismans placed on a fortification. Armor would have also been a way to go. That would have been what I spent the rest of my merit points on. I wanted a set of talisman compliant armor. Maybe something flashy red and gold to go with my glowing red sword.
The second the talisman barrier went down, I rushed after the centaur. He reached for his bag only for a phantasmal limb to steal it from him. Just as he looked away to find his bag, I was on him. There could be no mercy. I sliced through the joints in his forelegs leaving just enough meat to keep them attached. Lucifer craved blood and I wouldn’t deny it. I sliced through the Elder’s shoulder joints and his arms went slack. He looked at me in utter surprise. I held the blade against his neck and couldn’t help but feel incredulous.
“Was it really that hard not to cheat me? All you had to do was give me what was owed.” I whispered holding back the roar that threatened to break through. It really didn’t bother me that he was cheating me. If I had found out long after the fact, I could have let it go. He bragged about it before I left the building. Did he think his position or cultivation would spare him?
“Something like you shouldn’t exist it isn’t fair.” I was world breaking. That was obvious when I started cultivating.
“Is it any different than those born into a powerful clan, lucky enough to find a godly legacy, or unnaturally talented? Am I just not the right kind of fortunate for you to accept?” I bowed to him as Od had taught me. “Elder I’ll take my leave now; I expect my account to have all the merit points owed to me.” I took my leave as sect members skilled in healing rushed in. They didn’t even bat an eye as I walked away.
I scoffed to myself. This is a sect. Battles like this probably happen all the time. I shook my head at my own lack of experience. I had a lot of work to do before the siege. It was less than a week away.
After cleaning up, I made my way to the Och’s apartment. The higher your rank in the city the higher your apartment was in the city. Od’s apartment was well over 50stories high. Och’s was two stories. I couldn’t talk, mine was on the first floor.
I knocked on the door and only waited a moment before the door was pulled open. Three other centauresses were present. They looked at me and blushed before looking away. None could meet my eyes for longer than a moment. Tayu was there as well. They quickly removed their robes and the room was filled with large firm centaur titties.
“I didn’t know I was walking into an orgy.” I said. Och laid on her bed waiting for me. Her coat was brushed and fluffed giving it a silky-smooth appearance. Her skin practically shined from a bath that couldn’t have been two hours ago. There was a bit of moisture in her hair still. Och’s blond hair was braided and held together with a blue ribbon. Her bed was large enough, but it wasn’t a cushion like Od’s. That was fair. Od was an elder. Like the centaur I’d just bloodied and maimed. They were the same rank but worlds apart in power.
“I heard about your victory over elder Jochi. He is a well-known cheat. And well known in the outer sect. He has attempted to use his position to tempt mares of my herd. Few are able to resist his attention or protection.” She said. I nodded.
“I had assumed he’d be the type to use his influence in such a way. Sorry, I didn’t do it for your herd.” I said.
She placed a hand on my shoulder and smiled. “What are you talking about it’s your harem?” She said and the centaurs crowded around me. Their b.r.e.a.s.ts were bare, and their eyes were fixed on me.
It took a few minutes for my mind to reboot after seeing so many tits. Higher brain function returned, and I looked back at Och. “What do I get out of it?” I asked. She looked at me perplexed.
“Mares are normally an object unto themselves. A stallion would kill to be in the position you’re in now.” Och said.
“Most stallions would have to kill to reach my position. Still why should I take your herd under my protection. How long before I’m dropped for a stronger male?” I asked. A smile spread over her face.
“You are the best or the worst negotiator I’ve dealt with. I offer you our bodies and you say what else you got. I offer you an official position as harem master of our herd year-round and you say what if another male comes to take my place. Are all humans like you?” Och asked.
“No most would be dead before they made it this far. Alright, I’ll bite. For now, let’s put it in the hypothetical. What am I expected to provide for you as your harem master?” I had a feeling this was going to be a burden that would slow my progress significantly.
“We receive most of what we need from the sect. It is hardly the same as taking us on as a harem out on the prairie. There are several things we will require from you. Namely merit points, some of your time each day, and defense against stallions after your position.” She said. So, if I took this position, I would have to provide money, time, and put myself into battles I have no stake in. They could at anytime piss off another elder strong enough to kill me.
“Alright now what do I get in return.” They looked at one another then Tayu jumped on the answer.
“Humans have difficulty refining dark qi. We can supply you some of our refined black qi during your private time with us.” Shit! It was a good reason to agree according to my cover. It would accelerate my black qi refinement. I would need more of it to mask my white qi.
Och nodded and hummed in thought. “We aren’t like human women. Our nature is different. The why is obvious and the how you will have to figure out. Maybe you’ll come to enjoy our nature. When the siege ends, we can house you on our homestead.”
“I didn’t think the sect allowed outer sect disciples to own property.” I said.
“We own it together. It is the homestead of the outer sect’s mare herd. The stallions have their own place as well. Invitations are under out discretion. You won’t find your friend Riku at the stallion homestead. Though I’ve heard they’ve given him multiple invitations. They have become desperate for his red ass.” Och finished with a chuckle. She pulled a paper fan and covered her smile. The rest of the centauresses joined in her mirth. I held my own opinion on the matter.
“How do you know the siege will end? I’ve seen the army of the dead. They number in the millions. There are undead dragons, legions of carrion monsters, and they are well led. This isn’t a mob, it’s an army that marches in rows.” She stared at me with an odd look on her face.
“Patriarch Chingis,” the centauresses gasped when they heard the name. “He is of the demon stage. His power is practically limitless.” I thought back to the tribulation lightning. It struck while the monster lords were weak from millennia of spirit energy starvation. That lightning was many times stronger than they were, but they still survived. In moments after regaining spirit energy, their BP was in the billions. They probably had demons of their own.
“What do you call a human on that level?” I asked. She fanned herself.
“A human who maintains their white qi is referred to as an angel when they surpass the nascent soul stage.” Och said. “Now what will you do? Will you take us as your harem or remain alone?” I closed my eyes and thought about it. Their tits had lowered by thinking ability significantly. I needed the dark qi. That was the bottom line wasn’t it. My black qi was only in the 1st stage. I needed a large amount and pounding Hertha every night wasn’t an option. She was gone on a mission for the sect. A last-minute raid on a local storage cellar. This could go south in a million different ways but if I used them properly, I could bring my black qi to the great circle of qi condensation. I could use my black qi as a foundation and raise a white palace. Or make a white foundation and raise a black palace.

“Very well I’ll take you on as my harem. Just know, I expect my authority to be obeyed or I’m out.” I said.
“Your first responsibility is to lay with me in my bed. I’m certain you’ll enjoy your reward black qi straight from the source.” A smile split my face as I stepped between her four legs over her body. She laid on her back with her arms crossed under her b.r.e.a.s.ts. She grabbed one and picked it up. It was large DDD at the least. I’d only seen larger b.r.e.a.s.ts on Od, Och put Hertha’s modest chest to shame.
I placed a hand on her chest feeling my hands squish in the soft flesh. “Be gentle their sensitive.” Och said as the centaur’s behind me pulled my robe off and placed it away. The centauresses started to rub against one another and two started to make out. Tayu leaned down her hair also braided. Her lips caught Och’s and they started to make out as I played gently with Och’s tits. Och started to play with Tayu’s chest while they made out. I realized at that point that this was the true hedonistic nature of centaurs.
A smile spread across my face. This one was bitter. I opened my mouth and snatched one of Och’s pink pokey n.i.p.p.l.es. The nub was tender and hard. It was everything I thought Od’s would be. There wasn’t a fire from it like Od’s would have. This felt more like a job. I shook my head. I grabbed another hand of Och’s tit and sucked on both n.i.p.p.l.es together. Och bucked shoving her chest against my face and squealing into Tayu’s mouth. Och kicked at the air trying to get something into her snatch. I let out a sigh and used phantasmal limb. From the shadows a tentacle rose and glided into her. She opened her eyes and bucked her h.i.p.s as the tentacle had its way with her.
