Trope World - Volume 1 Chapter 43 Pillar Formation
There was only one answer to the financial problem starting a sect will accrue. Insurance, banking, and economics were the keys to financial security for a sect. Well for my sect. I needed to build a few institutions to forge a financial backbone for my sect. Most sects are in the business to acquire legacies and make immortals. Quite a few were started by an immortal for some nefarious purpose. My goal was different. I wanted to create a super powered sect for the sake of making the strongest sect possible. All to improve upon my Dao of civilization.
If was going to do this, then I would do it right. I took a breath and watched Zarina my golden cow drink from the blood pond. On occasion she ate one of the blood roses, when she thought I wasn’t looking. I’m always looking.
It’s a habit I’ve gained something of omnipresence in my sect. Nothing could happen without my notice. No whisper could spread rumor without me knowing the cause. It was terrifying and mind shattering. Well it should have been. I’ve changed, it wasn’t quick, until I crossed the threshold. I was different and it didn’t frighten me. My head wasn’t on the verge of collapsing and no eldritch creatures could assail my mind. I picked a peach from the ground and drank greedily from its opening before biting into it. The hundreds of tiny teeth, the tentacle covered parasitic seed, and the needle like shards of a Dao were all unique. My HP didn’t drop at all. No, I was different. It was in my bones, blood, and flesh. I had a toughness from the endless peak Dao that carried over.
The squids leapt from the blood pound and stared at me with envious eyes. No, their eyes were focused on Zarina not me. Why did the look at her with envy?
It didn’t matter, I had cultivation to do. My deep talismans acted like a bubble keeping the spirit energy held within the monastery. That was all well and good. I enjoyed the fresh supply of spirit energy. I needed dark or black qi for the black march. Black qi would have been best.
I couldn’t well and truly advance my black qi to the next level. I had reverse stages to get to. I needed to break through and then I had work to do.
The day was passing by before I knew it. I was going to be immortal; I didn’t feel a need to rush. I sat down and began to meditate focusing on my white qi. I had everything I needed to jump from the condensation stage to pillar formation.
A single mistake could end my path with white qi and cut off one path of cultivation. So, I wouldn’t make a mistake. I uplifted the sea of pure white qi within me. It crackled with golden lightning expressing its purity with a challenging roar. It sang of the purity of angels and the pure unrelenting destructive power they possessed. I couldn’t wait.
I roared out and began to hold my qi into place. My white qi had done nothing but move since its inception. The second it stopped moving through the filters it lashed out. Tongues of lightning struck out against my control as the qi shook and fought. For a moment my grasp loosened and drops of qi fell turning black and vanishing. I opened my mouth and coughed up a mouthful of blood. It was just a drop, but it took 5% of my health fighting its way out. All the while more lightning fell upon my will trying to make me lose my grasp. Me lose my grasp! I was insulted instead of losing my grip, I tightened it.
I pulled it and it fought changing consistency to appear like taffy. It dripped down only for more of my will to spread thin to gather it. I pushed it and lifted it even as it fought. Golden lightning shattered parts of my will and more of my precious qi fell and left my body violently.
I couldn’t catch it; I could only refocus my attention only the pillar slowly forming. Lightning didn’t just strike at my will; it was the key ingredient needed to make the pillar solid. I moved my hand in the physical world and tossed another pillar formation pill in my mouth. It was made with ingredients found here but I needed it.
Other worldly spirit energy spread through my filters and mixed with my white qi. More lightning burst forth and it became a battle of attrition. Would the pillar form or would my will break? I screamed in agony as more qi violently tore its way free from me. The pillar was 30% formed. A second pill added more white qi to the mix. Lightning continued to fall, and doubt began to creep in. whole section of of the pillar fell away before it could regain control.
Pillar 50% complete health 60% gone. Lightning began to pop off my body and rip out striking the walls and ceiling. I swallowed my last pill. The pillar was a slab of lightning. It was wreathed in golden light driving my mind into agony.
I remained as the lightning struck against my will the pillar formed and hardened. Pillar 90% complete.
Quakes began to shoot out from the pillar. Blades of white qi cut through my will and lightning found its way inside. I began to spin the pillar and it lengthened taking on the shape of a lightning bolt. It continued to rise solidifying. When it touched the ends of my will it finally hardened.
It resembled a rod more than a pillar. Then it thrummed with white qi. My qi pathways re awoke with new life and my body felt glowed with golden light. I opened my mouth feeling power like a god filled my being. The building around me began to rumble as my power continued to climb beyond my wildest dreams. This was the difference between the great circle of qi condensation and low pillar formation.

Holding my hands together, I powered up an atomic blast. I flew above the monastery and unleashed a powerful beam of mana. The world went dark as my attack became the brightest light around. The ground shook and dark qi began to pour up to the surface. It was like hitting and underground spring. Molten rock fell into the hole as dark qi filled the air.
