Trouble With The Billionaires - 7 Chapter 6. The Meeting~Part 1
It had been a week since Vanessa had started working for the Black’s Corporations, but it felt like she had always belonged here, all thanks to Carl. True, she didn’t interact much with Nathaniel, but that’s just a plus point for her, because of the green eyes she was hiding behind.
….. and today is the meeting.
The meeting between the two famous rivals, that would open a new door of partnership and togetherness for them. The meeting between her father and her uncle.
She is ready. Vanessa couldn’t help the sarcastic comments that bubbled inside her, how could she?! She was attending the meeting as the manager of the Black’s, despite being the daughter of the Survin’s.
She couldn’t fudging help it!
But she had to keep calm. Vanessa nodded with determination and fixed up her royal blue blazer suit.
Chin up and smile. Vanessa walked towards the meeting room and greeted her colleagues with sweet smiles as she entered the meeting room.
The table had been divided such that the left side of the table was for the committee of Black’s and other side for Survin’s and Vanessa couldn’t help the turmoil burning her.
“Sapphire!” A voice called out her name, breaking her gaze from the leather chair she was eyeing and smiled as her gaze landed on Jake. She met him in the elevator one day, and she found out that he was in Carl’s gang of ‘The best’, the one she was alloted into without even being asked.
“Jake. Hi!” Sapphire walked towards him and Jake stood up from his chair and hugged her good naturedly. Jake was the head of the HR department, so Vanessa was not surprised to see him in the meeting.
“So? What’s wrong?” Jake asked with a small smile and Vanessa looked around the room nervously.
“I don’t know.” She lied as Jake pulled out a chair for her and she sighed, before settling down on the white chair.
“Umhm…. it’s your first time.” Jake remarked, once he settled in the chair and Vanessa nodded, even though she realised that it was not a question.
“Saph, it’s normal, ok! All you have to do is believe in yourself and everything will be alright.” Jake patted her shoulder encouragingly and Vanessa raise a mocking brow at him.
“Did you just quote the theme song of winx club?” Vanessa giggled as he turned red with embarrassment and swatted her hands away as she pinched his cheek.
“Aww….”
“I have a little sister.” Jake crossed his arms over his chest and scowled at her, while Vanessa giggled behind her hand.
“Oops. Sorry” She pouted sadly and Jake waved off her apology with her hand.
“It’s fine.”
“No. No, it’s not. I shouldn’t have accused you of… watching Winx. Oh shoot.” She gave him an apologetic look, before she burst out laughing.
“Oh my god. I am so sorry.” She wiped the tear that roll down her cheek and everyone looked at her, confused not able to get anything.
The smiles broke around the room as Jake pouted angrily, while the new manager paid no heed to the blonde man’s anger and kept on laughing.
Vanessa alerted as the door opened and the committee of the Survin’s followed the owner and CEO of the company. She stood up from her seat, along with others and welcomed the members of her father’s company. And, well the situation couldn’t get anymore awkward, as the two survins stand opposite each other, getting introduced by Jack.
“Mr. Survin, allow me to introduce you to our new manager….. Ms. Sapphire Jones.” Vanessa and her father exchanged secret smiles as they shook hands.
“A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Survin.” Vanessa grinned proudly and her father smiled back at her.
“You too, Ms. Jones.”
“Please sir, have a seat. Mr. Black will be here soon.” Jack said with a curt nod and the committee members settled back down in their fixed positions.
The door opened once again and everyone stand up again as, her uncle Glen, his features so similar to Nathaniel, the same brown eyes, she was knocked with, standing out as he looked at everyone with kindness, which Natahniel certainly lacked when it comes to the employees of the company.
“Hello everyone, let’s start the meeting, yes?” Glen settled down on the head of the table, opposite the projector, with her father on his right. Vanessa sat, two chairs away, opposite her father, with Jack on her right and two empty chairs on her left.
“Wait Glen, where is Nathaniel?” Her father piped in and Vanessa’s lips pursed. Really dad, are you signing a death certificate for me?
“Um… I don’t know.” Glen looked at the empty chairs beside him and Vanessa smiled politely as her green eyes meet his brown ones, from behind her glasses.
“You are the new manager, yes?” Glen tilt his head to the side as he scrutinized her and Vanessa nodded curtly.
“Ms. Sapphire Jones, if I am not wrong.” Glen added with a smile and Vanessa observed his eyes crinkle at the corner, before nodding.
“Can you go and bring Nathaniel?” He asked politely, leaving it on her and she nodded.
“Sure sir.” Vanessa stand up from her place, ignoring the stunned face of her father and walked towards the door. But before she can push it, it was pulled open and she stumbled slightly but managed to gain her balance. Vanessa looked up at his dishevelled state and bit her lower lip at the sight of the large bite mark on his neck.
A large detectable mark, a big sign of his playboy nature and she looked up at him with concealed hatred. Why play with her emotions, when he couldn’t commit to a relationship?
The man, after ignoring her entire existence, passed by her as he walked in and settled down on his chair. Cathy followed him and settled down in the chair beside him smugly and Vanessa eyed the empty chair beside the bitch with disgust.
“Ms. Jones, please close the door and come here.” Glen smiled at her sweetly and Vanessa closed the door, before walking towards him.
“Can you pass these to everyone?” Glen pointed at the files, laid out on the cabinets behind and Vanessa nodded.
“Sure sir.”
“I’ll help.” Jack piped in and stand up from his chair and looked at the big boss. “…. if you don’t mind, Mr. Black.”
“Of course Jack, its no big deal.” Glen added with a kind smile and Vanessa shot Jack a grateful smile as he walked towards her.
“Thanks Jack.” Vanessa whispered as he helped her untie the bundles of files and Jack nudged her lightly.
“You are my friend and in friendship, there is no sorry and especially, no thank you needed.” Jack added with a smile and Vanessa giggled lightly, before picking up half a bundle of files and walked towards Glen.
She placed the file in front of her uncle, then her father who smiled lovingly and proudly at her, while Jack started from Nathaniel’s side, followed by Cathy, who snatched it ftom him, before he can place it in front of her and he rolled his eyes at her. Bitch.
Vanessa frowned as she looked at the empty cabinet and then at Jack with a confused frown, marring her face and he shrugged. Glen must have sensed the problem by looking at the lone file in Jack’s hand.
“There must be some mistake in the numbers, whose duty was to keep the files ready?” Every eye from the committee of Black’s, landed on Cathy who turned red with embarrassment.
“I am sorry sir, but I think I forgot to count Ms. Jones, since we had been left out of the post of manager for a month and…”
“Never again.” Glen gave her a stern look and smiled apologetically at the manager of his company.
“I am sorry, dear….. I’ll fix up this problem right away.” Glen smiled apologetically and Vanessa shook her head, as she settled down on her chair.
“There is no need, sir. I can share it with Jack.” Vanessa said with a kind smile and Jack nodded as he sat on the leather chair. He opened the file, revealing the details of the upcoming projects and put it in between.
“So, Shall we start?”
