True Alpha’s Chosen Mate - Chapter 250
“This is bad!”
Hugo stared at Elizabeth’s back as she stomped away. His eyes glossed over her and then to Silas, who was conversing with Tomas. Tomas had his hands behind his back, walking beside Azazel as if they were on a trip.
The longer Hugo stared at their retreating figures, the misplaced innocence in his eyes faded ever so slowly, replaced by darkness.
The next second, he felt Ivo’s presence. The latter was catching up to his breathing as if he ran a mile.
Ivo took a deep breath before his report came out of his mouth, along with his deep exhaled. “Your Grace, Princess Sally is safe.”
As soon as those words left Ivo’s lips, his knees could not help but tremble at the aura that suddenly exploded out from Hugo’s calm shell. Even though Ivo was already used to Hugo’s presence and had served him for a long time, this aura the grand duke was emanating was something he never felt before.
It was suffocating and strong, giving another werewolf an urge to shift.
Hugo… and his pent-up anger was flowing out, and it was covering the entire imperial palace.
When Ivo blinked, Hugo was already gone from his vantage point, and all he could see was a dark shadow speeding in his siblings’ direction. Silas, Elizabeth, and Tomas couldn’t even catch up because when they turned around, they froze up at the beast who went past them.
BOOM!
After the loud crash and the defeating explosion of power, everyone held their breath for several seconds. Everything happened so fast and it escalated too quickly. They needed a moment to process what had just happened.
Ivo was the first to blink, moving his eyes at the thick smoke ascending as Hugo and Azazel crashed through the thick wall far from the training ground. They flew that far, despite that Hugo used his siblings to hold himself back. Although things were also shocking for Ivo, he knew Hugo far too well than anyone in the pack.
With Silas, Elizabeth, and Tomas in front of him, Hugo would have to hold back. If not, he would hurt the three of them and his people on the training grounds for unleashing all the pent-up anger he had been containing.
“What the…” when Tomas finally recovered from his shock, he turned around to see the thick smoke from a distance. “… hell?”
Silas also snapped his eyes and looked back. Elizabeth did the same, but before they could ask Ivo, she glanced up and noticed a few figures hopping through the roofs. She narrowed her eyes before they dilated as soon as she saw it was Daniel and his people.
“Ivo!” yelled Silas, bringing Elizabeth back from her trance. “Fill us in!”
He didn’t wait for Ivo as he bent his knees to gain momentum before he sprung forth. Elizabeth could only grind her teeth and followed him, and then Tomas as well. Ivo, on the other hand, huffed as he also followed them and soon caught up to them.
“Tell us now, what is going on and what happened to Sally?” Elizabeth inquired as soon as she felt Ivo’s presence behind them. Silas and Tomas also sported a solemn look, sharp eyes ahead, waiting for Ivo to fill them in with important details they didn’t know about.
What was Hugo planning all this time?
Ivo’s face darkened as he breathed out carefully. “Apparently, Prince Azazel was the person who was pulling the strings behind the Hendrik Empire.” That was all Ivo said, straight to the point, but it was enough for the three royalty to get a grasp of the situation.
They let a snake in.
Only Hugo knew, but… how? How did he know?
There was a plethora of questions that hovered over their heads, but that didn’t matter for now. How Hugo figured out about this and why he didn’t tell anyone until now wasn’t the real question.
The real one was… what was Azazel doing during his stay in Ronmin?
Silas and Elizabeth seemed to have the same thoughts as they both look at each other and nodded. Silas then yelled as he cast Tomas a look.
“Tomas gathered everyone and protect the imperial palace!” Silas ordered to which Tomas agreed without questions. As soon as the latter nodded, he halted and bolted in a different direction.
“Elizabeth!”
“Got it!” she already changed the direction she was heading, sprinting to the opposite side where Tomas dashed away. Meanwhile, Silas sped ahead to where Hugo crashed into.
“Ivo, is Sally really alright?” he asked with a dark voice, eyes glinting dangerously.
“Yes…” Ivo breathed out while lowering his eyes, recalling Sally’s state when they found her buried alive in the backyard of the princess’s garden. “… but she’s… she inflicted injuries.”
“How grave?”
“It will take her months to recover.” Silas’ jaw tightened as his fingers curled into a tight fist. For a werewolf to need months to regenerate, that only meant Sally was barely alive.
Even if Ivo didn’t detail everything, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration if Sally’s bones were crushed to smithereens. But no one got a whiff of her blood. That meant Azazel hurt her, and for that, pulverizing her bones was enough to incapacitate her.
“Since when did you know about this?” he asked, thinking that Ivo had known this truth since he was Hugo’s trusted aide. However, Ivo sighed and shook his head.
“I’m sorry, Your Highness. I only came to know about this just now when Alpha Hugo gave me orders to find Princess Sally before he hunts down his prey,” Ivo explained, recalling the time when Hugo gave out his first order after a long time since he kept consulting with him. “That’s all the order I received. So… I was even surprised when he attacked Azazel.”
“I’m going to kill him.” Silas ground his teeth as low growls escaped from his mouth. This time, Ivo slowed down his pace, creating a distance from Silas.
“Your Highness, I will regroup with the pack,” said Ivo, knowing he was needed to be in another place.. Silas didn’t answer, but Ivo still bowed slightly before halting, only to run back.
