True Alpha’s Chosen Mate - Chapter 255
[West Wing of the Imperial Palace]
Elizabeth opened her palms, stopping in the middle of the open landscape, on her way to meet her soldiers. Her eyes watched the dark liquid landing on her palm, curling her fingers as she looked up. Blood grazed her naturally contoured cheek while her breathing suspended.
“I have a terrible feeling about this,” she whispered through her gritted teeth, shifting her eyes around the vast expanse. Her golden eyes constricted as they shifted in red. They landed on the ground that was slowly turning black, making her heart pound against her ribcage.
“What the hell…” came out under her breath, canines growing longer while her fingers stretched until they were sharp claws.
She could feel the evilness crawling out from the depth of the earth, twisting the knot in her stomach, suspending her calm breathing. Elizabeth walked back cautiously, observing the grass she was stepping on. Every step felt heavy but careful, treating the ground as thin ice which could break and drown her.
On the fourth step, she froze. She raised her eyes, catching a hand creep out of the ground. It was as if there was a clean black hole from where the hand was crawling out. Her eyes narrowed and there was no doubt the dark blood pouring down the imperial palace was creating a portal where vampires could infiltrate.
“Hah…” she smirked in annoyance, stretching her neck from one side to the other. Azazel was prepared. It didn’t matter if he was just alone in the imperial palace. He didn’t need to march all his people to Ronmin. He simply needed to enter and wait for the perfect time to do all this, and the impregnable imperial palace of Ronmin wouldn’t be that unbreakable anymore.
“This… Hugo Tempest…” Elizabeth ran her hair through her hair that was tied in a tight ponytail, laughing with closed lips. “No wonder you invited me back. You know you were welcoming a son of a bitch.”
Hugo told Elizabeth nothing, but with her keen brain, she was able to put the pieces together one by one. His brother, Hugo, was aware of Azazel’s objectives and capabilities. The reason Hugo resorted to welcoming Azazel to the imperial palace, despite knowing the risk.
As mentioned, the imperial palace was the most impregnable place across the entire continent — Belcoot comes in second. An attack from outside wouldn’t even graze the walls surrounding the imperial palace. In other words, an attack from the inside also meant the same.
They were all locked in here.
“That son of a bitch…” she laughed in delight, licking her canines as her eyes were fixed on the figures standing up. “He is annoying, but I can’t deny he is annoyingly smart, too. Although I had a discovery that I am more filial than him since I never thought of using my entire family as bait.”
The side of her lips stretched from ear to ear, shaking her head as she faced the first vampire, who stood on his two feet. The black hole under his feet shrunk in size as its edges evaporated into a black mist. When she blinked, that vampire standing several meters from her suddenly appeared in front of her, claws aimed at her throat.
“You know… the reason Hugo asked my presence in here?” time seemed to slow down as her eyelashes fluttered, watching the vampire’s eyes dilate as soon as he locked eyes with her. She smirked. “And do you know why they need me in a war? Well, I bet you don’t.”
SLASH!
Elizabeth grabbed the arm stretching towards her, breaking it in half like a biscuit before grabbing his neck after tossing the severed arm. The grin on her face slowly turned perverted as her eyes dropped until they were partially closed.
“Shall I tell you who is the bitch called Victoria?” she squeezed his neck, claws digging deeply into his flesh until the tip of her claws met in the middle.
THUD!
“I guess not,” came out a dissatisfied mutter, letting go of the vampire after decapitating him with her bare hand. His body landed with a loud thud and her eyes studied his corpse and the dark mist slipping out of the man’s severed neck.
“How interesting.” Elizabeth rocked her head, raising her bloodstained hands to her lips. She licked her finger while her eyes studied the vampires, appearing like shadows coming to life.
“What an unappetizing taste of blood. I feel like drinking rotten milk.” She spat out after tasting the blood on her hand. She waved to clean it, but the second she looked away from the figures, multiple shadows loomed over her in a second. However, her lips curled up, even more, eyes glinting menacingly.
A sadistic killer.
“Oh? I take this as an invitation to get to know me?” She laughed and all she saw the next second was black and red.
**********
“Lock the gates of the Imperial Palace!”
A loud and continuous yell from several knights rang across the borders around the imperial palace, closing down the gates so no one would go in and out. When Ivo arrived in the main towers situated at the back of the palace, everyone was already pulling up the ramp.
“Tito!” he yelled, marching towards the gates where Tito stood while carrying Toby, who was wearing a raincoat in his arm. Tito raised his brows, turning his head, only to see Ivo storming towards him.
When Ivo stopped, Tito spoke before him. “All the gates are closing up,” came out a solid, deep voice, reporting to Ivo the current situation in this place. “Reks and the twins are already on it.”
“That’s good.” Ivo panted while rocking his head, shifting his eyes at Toby. There were two people who knew Hugo’s plan all along: Tito and Toby. It was not that Hugo didn’t trust everyone. He simply planned to deceive everyone but didn’t find the need to hide it from these two since they weren’t heavily part of the war.
Therefore, Tito and Toby were already on the move when Hugo finally told Ivo about a snippet of what was going on. It was also Tito and Toby who found Sally as they were playing catch when Ivo found them.
“Uncle Ivo, is Papa going to be alright?” Toby inquired after several seconds of silence while Ivo catch up to his breathing. His pair of doe eyes sought reassurance from his father’s most trusted aide.
Ivo let out a shallow breath as he forced a smile. “Of course…” his voice trailed off because just as he answered, a loud howl enough to shake the ground was heard.
The emperor was on the move…., and that was the first after a long time.
