Twin Soul - Book 3: Chapter 11 (7/11)
Even though Arthur’s Soul-bound Armor and Soul-bound Sword were cracked, he could still be fighting using them if he wanted to. Arthur decided to secure his Soul-bound Armor and Soul-bound Sword back inside his Magical Storage Ring because Arthur believed that he could easily kill Kain using just a short sword crafted using regular silver because there was no way Kain would have enough strength left to block another of his attacks. Kain’s Soul-bound Magical Diamond Ice Spear got broken to pieces which meant Kain’s life force had reached depletion. Arthur turned around as he wanted to deliver the final blow granting Kain a merciful death. But right after Arthur finished turning, he saw Kain already lunged at him and stabbed a dagger into his heart.
There was a lot of blood coming out of the hole on Kain’s left chest where his heart contained, Kain smiled and softly whispered using the last remaining of his strength, “Was it worth it? Was it worth dying in this shit hole world of yours? You could have teamed up with me and we will be able to rule the entire lower realms together, Arthur Castillon.”
At first glance, Kain was badly hurt, and no way he could have moved after that last attack. Sensing Arthur was shocked by how Kain could have successfully stabbed a dagger into his heart, Kain continued to whisper into Arthur’s ears to explain, “I have eaten the Vampire Emperor’s heart. My heart is tougher compared to the regular human heart. A hole in it wouldn’t be enough to kill me in an instant. I still have several seconds left to live and that shall be enough for me to take your life as well.”
Right after the last strike when Kain’s spear collided with Arthur’s sword, Kain reached into his right boot and took out a dagger that was crafted using ultra-rare crafting materials rewarded to him after completing the Timeless Dungeon and lunged at Arthur to deliver his final attack with the intent of killing Arthur. As long as Arthur dies, this [Isolation] world will collapse and Kain will be transported back to Toria Continents where he can use Blood Magic again to recover all of his injuries. Because that dagger wasn’t binding to his soul, it was just a regular weapon and wouldn’t be broken even if Kain’s life force has reached depletion. However, Kain quickly noticed the dagger penetrated Arthur’s heart but didn’t cause any bleeding. Arthur used just a little strength to push Kain away and Kain couldn’t resist it due to his extreme exhaustion as he was forced to step back several steps. The dagger Kain was holding fell on the ground while Kain was staring into Arthur’s heart just to find there was no hole in it.
Arthur understood Kain wanted to ask him about how he wasn’t killed by Kain’s last attack and truthfully explained, “Before I casted [Isolation] spell to bring you into this world, I activated [Divine Shield] spell. [Divine Shield] is one of the Creation Magic spells that can help preserve my life within two hours after activation. This spell can only activate once a day. After the two hours duration ran out regardless of if it was being used or not, I wouldn’t be able to activate it again until twenty-four hours later.”
If fighting outside of [Isolation], Arthur can easily use that [Divine Shield] spell repeatedly without worrying about the twenty-four hours cooldown because of the time difference inside the planet he has created compared to the real worlds such as Toria Continents.
Kain smiled and weakly said, “I see. Weakling, didn’t you set the rule that using magic was forbidden here? How can your [Divine Shield] spell be able to be activated?”
Arthur nodded his head and explained further, “[Divine Shield] spells can’t be canceled after activated. That was why I activated it before casting the [Isolation] spell because I knew once we go inside [Isolation], I will have to set the rule to forbid magic casting. Once the rules were set in [Isolation], it couldn’t change until the battle was over.”
“Isn’t that cheating? The righteous Arthur Castillon has to cheat to defeat me, I truly felt honored.”
“That is something I have learned from you, Kain. Winning is winning, isn’t that right? You have cheated to win against Lord Clerico. You can’t be mad at me for cheating, or can you?”
Kain laughed out loud and said, “I can’t be mad at you. Winning is winning. I’m proud of you, Arthur Castillon. You have cheated your way to victory, nothing wrong with that. I have lost twice in a day, how shameful. First, I lost to Noe Clerico. Last, I lost to you, a weakling that I have never treated as equal. Weakling, nothing makes me happier than to die in your hands. If you ever find Jaane, Liliana, and Zander, please…” Kain couldn’t finish what he wanted to say to Arthur as he fell to the ground as his severely injured heart caused him a tremendous amount of pain.
Arthur sighed out heavily as he was trying to hold back the tears from his eyes knowing his best friend was about to be killed by him. Arthur looked up into the sky, closed his eyes, and softly said, “As promised, I won’t allow harm to come to your wife and children. You can trust me on that. It was nice knowing you, Kain Bersk.” Arthur used the short sword on his right hand to stab into Kain’s head to grant him a quick death instead of letting him lay on the ground screaming out loud with that tremendous pain.
After verifying Kain was really dead, Arthur disabled the [Isolation] spell to transport Kain and himself back to Toria Continents at the exact location where they were before. Even though over an hour was passed inside the world of [Isolation], only one second was passed in Toria Continents. Everyone in Linkeep Island was terrified as they saw Kain’s heavily injured corpse laid on the ground in front of Arthur. Kain’s [Second Soul] has also died as he dropped Noe’s finger on the ground and faded away. Finwe opened his eyes widely and couldn’t figure out how Kain was killed in just one second. Anwyn Richir was surprised as well but she quickly snapped out of it and started laughing out loud. If Kain was truly dead, it meant that the permanent abyss link chained between Kain and her would be broken. Nothing makes Anwyn happier than to be free once again. And judging it wasn’t Anwyn’s fault that Kain was killed, no punishment will be carried to her from the Creator. Before Anwyn and Finwe could ask Arthur any question, they were forced to automatically be transported back to their realms.
