Twin Soul - Book 3: Chapter 11 (9/11)
Magical Storage Ring can’t accept a new owner until the old owner truly dies (after forty minutes and can no longer be revived using the [Resurrection] spell). However, Magical Storage Rings will lose the bond with its owners after the owners die for more than forty minutes regardless of whether the owners have drunk Life Potions or not. That was why Kain gave Finwe his Magical Storage Ring to be given to Jaane Almos after Finwe safely escorted Jaane and his two children to the underground bunker.
Liliana and Zander were both born without Elemental Soul, that was why they couldn’t use any Magical Equipment including the Storage Ring. Kain once told Jaane to secure his Storage Ring and wait for his return. Just in case he can’t make it back, she can become the new owner of his Storage Ring and was free to use any items he kept inside it. Kain mentioned the God-tier Potions but Jaane didn’t care much about it. If Jaane couldn’t be together with Kain, becoming God-tier would be meaningless for her.
After Jaane left the bunker, she shifted a small bird that was flying nearby into a large level 52 Saint-tier Ice Phoenix using [Awaken], one of her Druid Magic spells. While Jaane has the ability to turn any living animals, insects, and/or fishes into Magical Beasts, she couldn’t choose which Elemental Soul they would have. The maximum limit of Magical Beasts Jaane can be shifted using [Awaken] spells to serve her until they die was five. Unlike regular Magical Beasts that were naturally born, Magical Beasts shifted from using [Awaken] spells and can’t be revived after they died. Once they are dead, they will return to their true forms which were regular animals, insects, or fishes. If a fish was turned into a Magical Beast using the [Awaken] spell, it will grow legs, hands, even wings in some rare cases and have the ability to stay on land up to six hours before needing to go back into water or ocean.
Jaane jumped on the back of the Ice Phoenix and commanded it to fly toward the West which was the direction to go back to Linkeep Island while thinking to herself, “Kain told me that he would die once during the battle with Noe Clerico. Kain said it may take up to a year before he revives himself and told me not to worry about him. But Kain didn’t say anything about dying for the second time. Kain, I knew you wanted me to safely stay with Liliana and Zander, but what’s the point of continuing living without you? If you die, I will take my own life for a chance of going to the afterlife with you. Our daughter and son have grown to be strong warriors. They can take care of themselves after traveling to another realm using the Magical Portal Key that you have given me.”
Back to Linkeep Island. Emperor Acilianus prevented any of his Demi-Humans from assisting either Adrik or Etgar. Adrik summoned his Giant Ice Guardian to battle against Gwenn’s summoned Sixteen Wings Angel Battlemage. The new Saint-tier Light Magic spell Gwenn Bigham created was [Summon Angel Battlemage]. Gwenn’s confidence in defeating Adrik rapidly increased after she successfully created that spell. A Sixteen Wings Angel Battlemage can fight equally strong with at least five Sixteen Wings Angel Warriors. Because the Sixteen Wings Angel Battlemage itself has the ability to summon a Sixteen Wings Angel Warrior to assist it during battle.
Different compared to Saint-tier Conjuration Magic, Gwenn couldn’t summon the same Sixteen Wings Angel Battlemage every time she cast [Summon Angel Battlemage] spell. While some of the Angel Battlemages possessed some Saint-tier Light Magic spells, most Angel Battlemages could only cast up to level 50 of Legend-tier Light Magic spells. Even so, a Sixteen Wings Angel Battlemage that can only cast up to Legend-tier of Light Magic spells can still be considered equally strong compared to five Sixteen Wings Angel Warriors due to its physical strength also reached Eleventh Stage Saint Warrior.
Adrik and his Rogue Mages were strong in fighting back against the Mages Council while Etgar and the Blood Mages attempted to rescue Kain’s corpse. Kain was killed, but as long as they can recover his body before forty minutes have expired, they can resurrect him using the [Resurrection] spell. The obstacle wasn’t the Mages Council, but Arthur Castillon. Isia and her hundred Sixteen Wings Angel Warriors were just too powerful. With them circled around Arthur and Kain’s corpse, even the entire Blood Mages Guild couldn’t make it inside let alone less than fifty Blood Mages. While Arthur could have easily killed all Rogue Mages and the Blood Mages, he decided not to assist Holy Mage Gwenn Bigham. Noe Clerico was also being protected by Isia and her hundred of Sixteen Wings Angel Warriors by standing next to Arthur to watch Kain’s corpse.
All the memories Arthur had from being defeated by Kain when they first knew each other, the hatred he had against him before they became friends until Kain was killed by Arthur quickly replayed over and over in Arthur’s mind. Arthur kept looking at Kain’s corpse and counted minute by minute. After forty minutes passed, Kain’s corpse would become a true corpse and can no longer receive [Resurrection] spells. Arthur would then allow the Blood Mages to get Kain’s corpse and bury him with dignity after they get back to the Dryardian Empire.
Arthur thought, “I will wait after forty minutes pass then try to extract your souls again. Kain, if your souls are truly tainted, then I will help you destroy them to make sure no one can possess them to control your mind in the afterlife.”
Arthur turned toward Noe and shakingly said, “Lord Clerico, my heart is aching just by thinking about Kain.”
Sensing Arthur was controlling himself from crying, Noe sighed out lightly then pat Arthur on his back as he said, “Ever since Kain Bersk was born, his destiny was set to be against us. Killing Kain was your destiny and it couldn’t be avoided.”
Thirty-six minutes have passed after Kain was killed by Arthur, a large Ice Phoenix surrounded by at least a hundred flying Ice Spears approached closer to Arthur from the sky, and sitting on its back was Jaane Almos who have tears ran down from her eyes after seeing the lifeless body of Kain Bersk lying on the ground.
