Twin Soul - Book 4: Chapter 3
The conversation between Noe, Arthur, and Kain was heard by many people including Adrik, Etgar, Kath, other Lords of the Colors, as well as all the world leaders. It was because Noe wasn’t whispering but loudly shouted out to communicate with Kain and Arthur.
Kain laughed and asked, “Noe Clerico, you are just a Lord of the Gray. What gives you the right to legalize Blood Magic without the approval of your Holy Mage?”
Kain then pointed to the corpse of Gwenn Bigham who was still lying on the ground and mockingly asked, “You can’t even rescue your Holy Mage. Are you trying to propose some unreal deals so my father can let you pass and you will try that opportunity to revive her? Do I look like a fool to you?”
Noe began to laugh out loud and better explained his intention by asking, “It has been more than twenty-four hours since I last used [Second Life] spell. What does that mean, Kain Bersk? That’s means I can now kill myself, then get revive and refill my mana pool in full. Do you have any more Blood Equipment to help you fight against me? Even if you do, are you certainly sure you or anyone here can defeat me? Your little trick before wouldn’t work on me ever again. The next time I kill you, you will die for good.”
“I won’t fall for your bluff. You can’t cast any [Second Life] spells because your mana pool is already depleted and it can’t be recharged for the next twenty-eight days.”
“Ah… my bad. I haven’t answered one of your questions earlier. Kain Bersk… Yes, you are a fool.”
Noe then took out a Small Mana Potion from his Storage Ring and quickly drank it. He then asked Kain using a mocking tone, “What about now? You are in no position to argue with me after this, aren’t you?”
Kain was inarticulate after he witnessed Noe drink a Small Mana Potion. Noe wasn’t wrong. If Kain continues this fight, the result will ultimately end in his defeat. Now that Kain knew of Noe’s Awakened Monk Warrior specialization, he recognized the chance of escaping from Linkeep Island was very small. Arthur Castillon already showed that he is loyal to Noe Clerico for all eternity. That means Kain can’t expect Arthur to raise arms against Noe, especially not after Kain and Arthur went through a life and death battle. Anwyn Richir was still fighting strongly against Saint Michael, but that was because Saint Michael still hadn’t summoned any Archangels yet while Anwyn couldn’t summon any Devils outside of Devils’ planet. Furthermore, Noe’s Soul-Bound Creature, Gisella Renzo, is a God-tier Ice Mage who can easily overpower any creatures Kain is going to conjure including Finwe.
Seeing Kain’s reaction and knowing he was about to submit to acknowledge that he was defeated by Noe, Noe smirked and said, “After you swore to be loyal to me for all eternity, I will have a quest for you to complete to prove your loyalty.”
“What kind of quest?” Kain suspiciously asked.
“Kill Kath Donoghan. She is a traitor of the Mages Council and her backstabbing the Holy Mage is unforgivable. Kill her… and I will legalize Blood Magic, you have my word.”
Other Lords of Colors have never dared to raise voices against Noe Clerico before and they wouldn’t dare to do it now. Besides Noe, only Wrenn Faskete, Lord of the Red, has reached level 100 in magic training. But in reality, Wrenn Faskete can’t even hold a candle compared to Angi, the female level 100 Fire Mage of Esterden Continents, one of Noe’s minions in his second Dark Vortex.
Seeing Kain was thinking about it, Noe smirkingly said, “Conjuration Magic is and has been looking down ever since the Magic System was created by The Creator. Due to lacking great Conjurer Mages, Conjuration Magic was named the weakest Elemental Magic of all. Kain, Arthur, looks around you now. The three strongest magic casters in Toria Continents and the entire lower realms right now are the three of us, the three Conjurer Mages. Kain… swear your loyalty to me and together with Arthur, we will build a new era with Conjuration Magic as the new foundation in the Magic System of Toria Continents.”
Both Kath and Adrik were disconcerted when they heard this. They both turned toward Kain to see what he would do. Not just Kath and Adrik, but Etgar, and all the Blood Mages also turned toward Kain as well as they started worrying about if Kain was going to agree to Noe’s command of killing Kath. Despite didn’t know much about the secret affair between Kath Donoghan and Adrik Volsky, the way Adrik saved Kath earlier showed there was some special connection between them. Adrik won’t stand idly allowing Kain to kill her regardless of how much weaker he is compared to the powerful strength of Devil-Kain. If Adrik goes against Kain, his Rogue Mages would join him because he was the only person who truly protected them after they were banished and hunted by the Executioners. About Etgar, Adrik was like a father to him who walked him all the steps of the way and helped him build the Blood Mages Guild. Even though Kain was named the Supreme Leader in the Dryardian Empire, Etgar Revenmar is the person who was truly in control of the Blood Mages. Legalizing Blood Magic doesn’t mean all the current Blood Mages who hate the Mages Council can be safe. This was a chess move Noe had made to ensure Kain won’t be able to betray him anymore after making himself enemies of the Rogue Mages and Blood Mages.
Watcher Tykan didn’t want to interfere with Kain’s thinking because he saw Kain was hopeless in winning against Noe. Even if Kain swears his loyalty to Noe, Watcher Tykan still can possess Kain’s body to once again find a good opportunity to kill Noe then create chaos in Toria Continents as much as he wishes, whether Kain agreed to it or not. About Watcher Zorim, she believed Hagar Bersk will free Kain’s Souls regardless of facing execution in the Dead Realm for such disgraced action of The Key Keeper. Even though Blood Magic wasn’t humane, Watcher Zorim truly believed Noe can find a good way to control it after he legalizes it.
Put all that aside, Watcher Zorim was currently in no position to make any demands toward Noe since she violated the agreement she had made to him by sending Saint Michael to Toria Continents to provide assistance. So even when Watcher Zorim didn’t like the idea of legalizing Blood Magic, there was nothing she could do about it. There are rules set for the Watcher by The Creator and those rules shall not be violated especially in the lower realms where the reach of the Watchers is much farther compared to the higher realms. That was the reason why the Watchers are called ‘Watchers’ because they are meant to watch and interfere in some ways but not directly managing all realms and planets under their control the way they like it to.
Planets in the lower realms produce and provide different types of benefits to the Watchers in the higher realms. The more planets and realms under their control, the more benefits they will receive. Many weaker Watchers that only have one planet under their control can lose that status of being a ‘Watcher’ if that planet was destroyed or the people of that planet begin to pray to other Watchers instead. Legalizing Blood Magic can create unnecessary problems that make ordinary people started praying to other Watchers to protect them from the Blood Mages and Watcher Zorim is greatly concerned about losing Toria Continents, the biggest planet that has an entire realm of its own which was why Watcher Zorim had the Mages Council forbid Blood Magic and terminate all possible future threats by killing all children who were born with Twin Soul.
