Twin Soul - Book 4: Chapter 6
History lesson. Toria Continents. The forty-seventh calendar, in the year 6,631. Noe Clerico, a twelve years old boy who had recently advanced into level 15 of the Intermediate-tier in Conjuration Magic. Noe received a two months suspension from his Mages’ Academy of Glomer in Principality of Cylatlond due to ‘accidentally’ killing six classmates during an off-record friendly duel with one of them. Noe was sent home for two months with a suspension letter and his parents have to sign the suspension letter before Noe can come back to the Mages’ Academy. Killing a classmate was wrong, and killing six classmates was very wrong regardless of whatever the reason was. Noe was supposed to be sent to the Mages Council for possible execution or at least get his Conjurer Soul destroyed to prevent him from becoming a Rogue Mage in the future. Because Noe showed excellent training in Conjuration Magic, the Principal of Mages’ Academy of Glomer decided not to send Noe Clerico to the Mages Council where he could get executed or get his Conjurer Soul destroyed. After careful consideration, the Principal was only suspended Noe from the Mages’ Academy for two months after yelling at him for hours. Even when the ‘victims’ families’ were pressuring the Principal to demand Noe be permanently banished from the Mages’ Academy, the Principal stood up against them to defend Noe. Conjuration Magic has been and will always be considered the weakest Elemental Magic. Conjurer Mages can conjure an army to help them during the time of war but often die while fighting one versus one with another type of Elemental Mages. That was why Conjurer Mages were often viewed as weak and needed protection from others to survive battles.
In the year 6,619 of the forty-seventh calendar, Noe Clerico was born in a humble farmer family that lived in a small village near the town of Litmeden that belonged to the Principality of Cylatlond. Despite being a town located near the borderline with the Cloudia Empire, Litmeden had a strong enough army to fight back any large-scale invasion while waiting for assistance from armies of the capital, Glomer city. Noe’s father, Naen Clerico, and Noe’s mother, Darla Welfer, were very happy when they knew Noe possessed a Conjurer Soul after they took him to attend the Elemental Soul examination at Glomer city when Noe was three years old. But when Noe brought the suspension letter home for his parents to read and signed, they couldn’t be angrier at him after reading the letter that the Principal had carefully explained what Noe had done to his classmates. Being suspended for two months from the Mages’ Academy was not a big deal. But Noe could have been permanently banished after getting his Conjurer Soul destroyed by the Mages Council or, worst-case scenario, facing execution.
A lowly farmer family that can give birth to a magic caster was considered very lucky because even if their child graduated from the Mages’ Academy as a level 10 Novice Mage, their living condition will greatly improve after that child is recruited to work for a town’s Lord or a town’s Lady. Naen and Darla didn’t know why Noe went on a rampage and killed six classmates on the same day, but something like that should have never happened in the first place. Even though those classmates were revived by a Light Mage professor shortly after Noe killed them, their magical training was temporarily halted due to being unable to regenerate mana to cast magic spells for a month. Getting killed during a duel isn’t anything new, but the duel Noe and other classmates had was off the record which meant it wasn’t registered and approved by the Mages’ Academy. Noe’s classmates didn’t face any problem because of their backgrounds and also because they were labeled as the ‘victims’ in this case.
Noe was thankful to be born into a great family. His father and his mother cared for him very much even before he was discovered to possess a Conjurer Soul. Noe’s parents often told him that they will save money to send him to college where he can study medicine and become either a physician or a chemist which was the highest paying profession without joining the military. Unlike regular children, Noe Clerico had a unique brain that allowed him to understand and memorize everything when he was still just one year old. Regardless of how mad his parents were when they yelled at him after they saw the suspension note, Noe wasn’t angry at his parents but was disappointed at himself for failing his parents and failed to control himself better. If the principal sent Noe to the Mages Council for trial, he could get executed or at least get his Conjurer Soul destroyed to prevent him from becoming a rebellious Rogue Mage in the future.
Noe was very humble when he first attended the Mages’ Academy at the age of ten. That didn’t change even after he showed great improvement in magical training and was favored by the professor that taught Conjuration Magic. At the age of eleven, Noe advanced into level 11 of Conjuration Magic and was moved to Intermediate-tier magic training classes despite only attending the Mages’ Academy for just one year. The humble Noe Clerico still didn’t change his attitude despite sensing how much his classmates were jealous of him. Five weeks after Noe was moved into Intermediate-tier magic training, that was when he was constantly being bullied by some classmates who were very jealous of how fast he could progress in training magic. One of the classmates that constantly picked on Noe was a noble-born son of Lord Gemigio Gianella, who governed the city of Emwood, Principality of Cylatlond. His name was Alvisio Gianella, who advanced into level 20 Master-tier of Thunder Magic at the age of nineteen.
Alvisio once recruited Noe to come and work for his father, Lord Gemigio Gianella, after Noe graduated from the Mages’ Academy but he refused because his goal was to join the Mages Council and become a Solo-Executioner. Because Alvisio’s level was too high compared to Noe at that time, he and his buddies were constantly given Noe ‘extra lessons’ after classes on a daily basis. Noe has taken this matter to several professors but all they did was advising Alvisio not to be ‘too rough’ on Noe. Even though Noe showed tremendous improvement in magical training, breaking through the Intermediate-tier to advance into Master-tier isn’t something anyone can do despite how smart they are. There are plenty of magic casters who were very smart and practiced very hard to help them advance into the Intermediate-tier at a young age, but their progress will significantly be slowed after they advanced into Master-tier and would never break through to become a Legend Mage. That was why even when Noe is shown to be exceptionally smart, the chance of him advancing into Legend-tier wasn’t high either.
Alvisio has already reached level 20 and was about to push through to become Master-tier at any time. And because of his background, Alvisio had a higher chance of advancing into the Legend-tier by using expensive Magical Equipment to help him in meditation. More importantly, Alvisio was born into a noble family which meant even the Mages Council have to favor him if he manages to reach Master-tier before graduation. Lowly professors at the Mages’ Academy of Glomer who couldn’t break through to become Legend Mages wouldn’t dare to upset someone such as Alvisio Gianella who will have much ability to mess with their lives in the future. Noe quickly noticed a low-born person like him wouldn’t be able to find any allies at the Mages’ Academy.
A cowardly dog that was pushed too much into the corner can bite back without warning. That was what happened with Noe Clerico. Even though Noe was only at level 15, he was lucky enough to bound his Conjurer Soul to a tenth-tier sword-wielding demon named Gazhorn. Not only has Gazhorn reached the tenth-tier in training warrior arts, but his magical training has also reached level 35 of Legend Fire Magic. Noe didn’t want to reveal that to anyone because he was aiming to surprise his opponents if he gets selected to participate in the upcoming Student Mages Tournament Battle. Nevertheless, constantly being given free ‘extra lessons’ by Alvisio and his peeps made Noe go berserk. On that cursed day, Noe lost control for several minutes and allowed his rage to take over him. By the time Noe realized what had just happened, Alvisio and five other idiots were already dead. Gazhorn was just too strong for a bunch of Student Intermediate Mages. Even if Alvisio and his peeps had already reached level 30 of Master-tiers then the result wouldn’t be any different as Gazhorn could have easily eliminated them all. The Principal was very surprised when he found out that Noe somehow managed to bound a powerful Fire Warrior demon such as Gazhorn to be his Soul-bound Creature. The only reason why Gazhorn agreed to be bound to a twelve years old boy was that it somehow realized the potential of Noe Clerico. The Principal then decided to protect Noe regardless of how much pressure he received from Alvisio and Lord Gemigio Gianella. Someone like Noe Clerico would have definitely become a Legend Conjurer Mage and Principal Gustaf Roban couldn’t send him to the Mages Council for trial.
