Two-faced: Doting Husband & Shameless Wife - Chapter 101
A night breeze hit her face when she opened her window. Sometimes a small breeze could clear her mind a little. She leaned against the connecting frame between the window and the verandah.
“What should I do?”
Ling Yue exhaled hardly. They were like being in a cold war in this house. She kept standing and thinking but a drowsy fell on her the longer she stood there. She decided to close the window and get ready for bed. When walking past her closet, She was shocked and Ling Yue’s sleepy state seemed to fly out the window. She hurriedly searched inside her closet.
“This is it!”
Ling Yue looked at the file she had crammed first.
A marriage contract. From his grandfather!
Ling Yue brought the file back to study. With a slight change, she could use this to ask her brother’s blessing. Ling Yue couldn’t wait to see Xi Jian again.
The very next day, Ling Yue waited for the lunch hour to end before heading to Xi Jian’s room. Since this morning he returned to the office, his schedule was very tight. He met a lot of people. Xi Jian’s two secretaries ignored her when she asked whether she could meet Xi Jian or not. Apart from Bai Xu, no one knew she was in a relationship with this supreme King Empire’s superiors. Because of the significant change in her appearance, these two Xi Jian secretaries seemed to hold grudges against her. What would happen if they knew the rumor that her new ‘boyfriend’ was actually Xi Jian? Ling Yue didn’t want to imagine unnecessary things like before.
She continued to go to the door of Xi Jian’s room after they uncaringly looked away. Ling Yue knocked on the door and Bai Xu appeared behind it.
“Miss Ling.”
“Mr. Bai, does Brother Jian have some free time now?”
Bai Xu glanced over his shoulder. “I think Mr.Xi will always have free time for you Miss Ling, please come in.” Bai Xu opened the door wide and self consciously walked out from the room. Today’s boss looks was scary because since early morning he has been drowned in work. He felt there was no harm in letting him rest for a while and handling what he could do himself.
When he saw Ling Yue appear in his office, Xi Jian’s smile hung on his lips. He stood up and hugged Ling Yue tightly. “You saved my day today.”
Ling Yue held him back tightly. “Do you have a lot of work?”
“Hmm … I’ve lost count of dealing with how many people.”
“Have you eaten?” Ling Yue looked up as Xi Jian relaxed his arms.
“I want to eat you.”
“You …” Ling Yue was speechless. He started ti again. “You eat first, I’ll talk about it later.”
Xi Jian shook his head. “You’re my priority. The others can wait.” He hugged her again.
Ling Yue began to nag at him and Xi Jian gave up. “Alright alright.” He asked Bai Xu to order the food and deliver it to his office.
Ling Yue hesitantly handed the file in her hand when Xi Jian had finished eating. “Give it to me.” Xi Jian watched her a long time ago, so he wanted to know what she wanted hand to him.
Ling Yue put the file in Xi Jian’s hand. “This … I got it from my grandfather before you were discharged from the hospital at that time. I think we can change it according to each other’s agreement so that my brothers can accept you.”
Xi Jian almost pressed his eyes on the paper in his hand. He was like staring at a priceless contract on trivial terms. The old Ling was willing to ‘married off’ his granddaughter to ‘help’ the King Empire which was at its lowest point at the time. It was true that if they announced that time the Xi Family and Ling Family were tied a knot, the King Empire would not be mired any further. But now King Empire has stabilized because he fought for it day and night in these two months, so this contract is now useless. Moreover, Ling Yujin asked for a stake of 70% if it succeeded in ‘helping’ them and 80% if in the process there was a divorce.
“Sorry, I don’t know why Grandpa suddenly gave me this contract at that time.”
“Is this the original contract from your grandfather?”
Ling Yue nodded. “I accept it as it is. I guess he also discussed it with his lawyer because I didn’t see a gap in his side.”
Xi Jian couldn’t prevent his lips from lifting up. “Then let’s sign it.” Xi Jian pulled out a pen in his pocket and placed the file on the table, preparing to put his signature.
“Wait! What are you doing?” Ling Yue who sat opposite him held his hand on the table. “You read the contents right? We can change it first so as not to harm you.”
“I could lose this company at any time and rebuild it from scratch, but I can’t just find someone else like you. The contents of this agreement are nothing if I can marry you. After all, this is a contract your grandfather made. If we change it, he will accuse me for manipulate you to agree to the contract we made…” and your brothers could blame your grandfather for giving me a way to have you! Perfect! His smile bloomed wider.
Ling Yue could only gape at what he said. She regained consciousness as Xi Jian sat beside her and handed her the file he had signed.
“In this contract it is stated that if I divorce you, your grandfather will get an 80% stake. Tell him that won’t happen. I can give him 100% of my shares but he can’t withdraw the contract for the life of his granddaughter.” Xi Jian looked at Ling Yue softly. She was his world. Xi Jian doesn’t care if he loses his company. But …
“If one day…I really lose my Empire, do you still want to be with me?” he asked hesitantly.
Ling Yue stared at Xi Jian’s face that began to blur in her eyes. He was willing to lose the energy and time he had spent so far because of herself. Xi Jian rubbed the corner of her eyes which began to shed tears.
“Why are you crying?”
“No it’s nothing.” Ling Yue shook her head and firmly signed the contract.
“Clear your schedule tomorrow. I will bring my parents and my grandfather to meet your family tomorrow night.” Xi Jian smiled and kissed her cheek.
