Two-faced: Doting Husband & Shameless Wife - Chapter 123
Two days before….
Xi Jian arrived at the scene not long after Zou Ci gave him information. He and his men combed the last road where the car was seen. No one was found there. Not the kidnappers or Ling Yue. The situation around him was so calm and quiet.
They found bloodstains on the street. Xi Jian’s heart seemed to be squeezed by invisible hands.
“I hope this isn’t your blood, Ling Yue.” he whispered.
“Keep looking for the slightest hint left behind.” Gan Ji ordered his flock.
“Hey, Gan Ji!” faintly heard someone shouting to him. “Come here!”
Gan Ji looked in various directions but the one who called him was nowhere to be seen. “Where are you?”
“Looks like the injured person fell here.” He said after Gan Ji and the others had found him in the middle of thatch grass.
“Quickly take this blood sample and ask our colleague to check it.” Gan Ji turned to his boss who had already returned to his car.
This area was a rural area far from boisterousness. But every person who enters or exits this road has its own recording track.
“Let’s go.”
Xi Jian took eight hours to find his beloved wife lying in a hospital bed unconscious. Ling Yue laid with an IV drips in her hand. Her eyes were closed and her breathing was regular.
“Finally…”
Xi Jian kissed the back of her hand. Ling Yue’s face slightly turned blue on the cheek area. Her arms were bandaged. With trembling hands he lifted the blanket covering Ling Yue’s body. Xi Jian checked every part of her body. Ling Yue, who was influenced by drug was not disturbed in the least by Xi Jian’s demeanor.
“YueYue … honey …” Xi Jian stroked her cheek. His hand grabbed Ling Yue’s again. He held it carefully.
“I’m sorry for finding you too long …” Xi Jian kissed her forehead then turned to her lips but Ling Yue did not move.
He was filled with extraordinary anger. “How dare they hurt you!”
When your loved ones get hurt, you expect yourself to replace them. Xi Jian chanted his wish repeatedly to replace Ling Yue in the heart. A flash of Ling Feng’s words crossed his head.
‘Somehow the women in our family don’t live long …’
Xi Jian shook his head to get rid of his friend’s words. Why he remembered those word now?
He remained silent for a while before reluctantly departing from Ling Yue’s side.
“The car that drove Mrs. Xi came from Wu’s company. It looks like one of the artists, Mao Yuhan, is shooting in that area.” Gan Ji reports as soon as Xi Jian exits Ling Yue’s room.
“Leave your trusted people to look after Ling Yue and watch those company’s people.” Xi Jian turned once again to Ling Yue. Wu Entertainment was a company made by Ling Yue’s cousin. Xi Jian didn’t want to take the risk. He would destroy those who hurt his loved ones.
“Let’s finish this shit.”
——-
Gan Ji and his man cleared Xi Jian’s entrance from the stubborn creatures that blocked them. Xi Jian continued to walk towards a room. After checking the car plate left by Zou Ci, his brows furrowed. How could the cars be registered in the name of the dead, which is well known throughout the City M? Xi Jian suspected certain people were using their names illegally.
“What a surprise! A young master like Mr. Xi stop by here.” A man in his late sixties sat casually behind a mahogany table. The ȧssistant behind him pointed his muzzle at Xi Jian and Gan Ji who had just entered the room.
“Please forgive if this old man said wrongly but what did you do without permission and act as you pleased in my residence?” Guo Zeng tapped his old fingers on the table.
“Should I ask that?”
His sneering tone made Guo Zeng frown. “And what does that mean?”
“Gan Ji …”
Xi Jian’s cold voice made Gan Ji glance at his boss. Gan Ji moved his eyes back to the gun that the old man’s ȧssistant was pointing at and pulled something out from under his jacket.
Xi Jian took it and threw it in front of Guo Zeng, heeding all manners. Guo Zeng slowly reached for the brown envelope in front of him. His face hardened for a moment to see its contents but returned to normal. Xi Jian had to admit that the old man was very quick to adjust his facial expression.
“So…”
“Why? I really don’t know you. So does my wife. But you hurt us repeatedly.” He emphasized the word ‘repeatedly’. “You better have a satisfying answer before I kill you.”
A second later the sound of his old laugh echoed in the room. “Well said young man. No wonder you are Xi Zihao’s grandson.”
Xi Jian blinked. Why his grandfather name coming out at this time?
“Do you want to hear my old story?” He scrambled and took a bottle of sampange.
“I’m not interested. My wife is waiting.”
“Oh. Did you find her?” He paused and looked at Xi Jian and then continued to spill his sampange into the glass. “She’s a bit tough. Well, I guess that was to be expected from the last woman of the Ling family, right?”
Xi Jian almost jumped off the chair and attacked him. Xi Jian restrained and forced himself to continue sitting. He could not just attack a military commander general for no apparent reason. Not yet.
He was sure some people out there knew of his whereabouts and Gan Ji was here. It was only a matter of time before he decided to drag him to the gallows or finish him off here alone before they arrived. Xi Jian didn’t care if he didn’t come out alive as long as he was able to kill the masterminds behind their circumstances.
“Oh let’s drink first, I’m not putting poison or anything.” Guo Zeng raised his glass and drank its contents, as if to prove his words. “You know? I really admire your grandfather and your grandfather-in-law. But they both disappointed me. Oh, by the way, how do you know? I think I’m very clean in doing this.” His eyes showed curiosity.
