Uchiha’s Butterfly - Volume 3 Chapter 76 Pain
Quickly gaining speed, Kaname noticed two silhouettes hidden by the fog waiting on her route.
‘Damnit!’ seconds before the collision, she pulled out a smoke bomb and threw it at the closest figure. Kaname noticed a saw blade sticking out of the cloud, ready to impale her. She crossed her fingers in a kagebunshin handseal, her clone pulled her away from this doom-like weapon, sacrificing itself.
Dodging the saw blade by a hair’s breadth, Kaname’s body smashed into a tall bald man. He had a weird burly body shape, a very thick neck, a large jaw, and two other faces on the sides oh his head.
‘F.u.c.k! There are more Rinnegan users?!’ she looked into his purple eyes. Kaname saw the man’s arms turn themselves into blades, making her quickly kick herself away from close-quarters combat.
‘No, it’s not a human! It’s a freaking puppet! At least in this smoke- Shit!’ she barely activated the protection of her Susanoo in time, from her left a black rod-like spear impaled one of the Susanoo’s ribs. At the same time, her back got blasted by the same kind of repulsive force she felt weeks ago, making her face meet the ground. Standing back up and shaking off the ringing in her head, she felt the ground beneath her feet tremble. The ribs of her Susanoo got nailed and crushed by a massive charging rhinoceros. The creature trampled over her, making her body plunge further into the marshlands.
‘*Cough* Now a summon with Rinnegan? What is going on?’ Kaname pondered, coughing out dirty water from her lungs. Looking around, she noticed she was alone only with a giant rhinoceros glaring at her mud dirtied body, getting ready to charge at her again.
Instead of letting the horned summon, gain the impetus, Kaname closed in on the purple-eyed creature herself. ‘Ugh! How did they find me so fast?’ Kaname got flattened into the mud by the same force she felt before. ‘Shit!’ As her bones creaked under pressure, Kaname felt the ground tremble, the rhinoceros charged at her once again. Flickering atop the creature’s head, she aimed her sword to impale into its brain. At this moment, Kaname heard a loud sound of air getting cut behind her. She jumped away, a second later, a deformed giant drill-beaked bird nailed the rhinoceros.
‘Another Rinnegan… Time to bail!’ she instantly jumped away multiple times from the flying purple-eyed creature. After the fifth , she lost sight of the bird, doing another five flickers for good measure, she stopped. ‘Hmm, they’re not attacking me now? *Sigh* That was intense. At least the fog gives me some protection-.’ Kaname felt a chakra flare somewhere further ahead.
“!” she heard a man’s shout.
“Oh, come on!” she exclaimed displeased, the landscape in front of her exploded in a massive cloud of water, dirt, and moss. Thanks to armoring herself in her Susanoo, she did not get herself flung away with the shockwave.
The foggy marsh turned itself into a vast shallow crater. In the middle of it, Kaname noticed five orange-haired men with Rinnegans, the bald-puppet, and an unconscious brown-haired man in blue kimono, being held by one of her enemies at the back of their formation.
‘SIX Rinnegan Users?! Wait! I destroyed that guy already!’ Kaname looked at the long-haired emotionless man.
She examined her enemies. They had a distinct layout of black piercings arranged on each of their heads. Her enemies stood in a formation, the long-haired corpse of a man, that Kaname destroyed before, alongside a chubby companion with a short-orange ponytail, stood closest to her.
The second row contained the bald puppet, a man with a long ponytail, and a spiky-haired man in between the two. All five of them were protecting the last member of their team, a squared faced-man, and the jinchriki, he held in his hands.
“Welcome, Kaname Uchiha.” the spiky-haired man loudly declared.
“Hi… Are you the leader of the bunch?” she asked him
hesitantly, keeping herself as far away from the group as possible.
“I’m Pain – we’re Pain. I did not expect to find you here, Kaname Uchiha. One of my officers asked me to recruit you to our cause.”
“Ho~ Someone I know?” she fished for information.
“Not anymore.” the spiky hair replied mysteriously.
‘Damnit, this Rinnegan user is far better than the last pompous f.u.c.ker.’ Kaname’s eyes turned to the unconscious body of a jinchriki, “Hmm, I can’t join you just because you say so, you are a leader of Akatsuki, is that true? Can you tell me what your end goal is?”
“Akatsuki’s purpose is to bring everlasting peace on those war-ridden lands. The world of ninja cannot thrive without war. We, the Akatsuki, are going to change it, once and for all. Join us now or receive the wrath of a god.” his powerful voice ordered her.
“Yeah-yeah, just one more question, Leader-sama. Why are you hunting down the jinchrikis?”
“No more questions! What’s your answer, Kaname Uchiha?” he bellowed loudly.
“I’m sorry, Naru-chan.” Kaname whispered, ‘I’m not sure I will get out of it in one piece. !’ (Fire Release: Great Flame Flower) Kaname spewed out multiple fireballs that shot out at her enemies, her attack reached only the halfway between her and her enemies. As soon as her projectiles were in striking distance of the first row of Rinnegan users, each one of the fireballs got blown off by invisible force.
“So, you chose death.” her opponent replied, slowly pulling his hand back down.
‘So he is the one with repelling and attracting forces. The baldie is their weapon specialist. The irynin most likely is kept at the back, is that the guy? Or is he the true leader?’ her eyes ventured to the square-faced man in the back. ‘Better safe than sorry’ her body got encased by her armored Susanoo form.
“You are too much of a nuisance to leave you alive, Kaname Uchiha.” With the spiky-haired man’s words, the companion on his left, the one with a long ponytail, clasped his hands.
‘Each one of them has a different summoning contract?’ Kaname faced a building-sized orange centipede. With a cricketing sound of hundreds of insectoid legs, the centipede’s head rose and shot out a purple cloud heading straight towards her.
” (Wind Release: Divine Wind Technique) A swish of Kaname’s and her Susanoo’s hands created a powerful gust of wind, the acidic cloud turned back towards the insect, instantly melting its chitin armor and flesh. In just a second, this acidic vapor reached the six Rinnegan users urging them to jump away.
‘Got you!’ Kaname flickered in front of their probable medic and thrust her sword at his neck.
As the slash almost decapitated the man, all her instincts screamed danger. Being sure of her senses, she pulled her head back, stopping the attack. In the blink of an eye, the tips of her flowing hair, that still occupied her head’s previous spot, got blasted to smithereens by a strange ray of light.
Jumping away, Kaname noticed the puppet’s hand-turned-cannon, was aimed at her last position, ‘How? I’m sure he did not see me! This guy?’ Kaname looked at the chubby man looking straight at her, ‘No, he couldn’t give him my exact location with just hands signs… and five!’. Exchanging her position with a log, Kaname dodged another attack that threatened to flatten her to the ground.
Activating her armored Susanoo form, Kaname sent one of her flying swords aiming at their probable irynin.
“!” (Summoning Technique) the ponytail man once again summoned a creature. This time from a smoke cloud, came a panda-like creature standing in front of the Totsuka Blade.
‘Tsk, I didn’t know it’s possible to have multiple summon contracts.’ Kaname clicked with her tongue. Susanoo’s weapon destroyed the summoned panda. ‘If one Totsuka Blade isn’t enough, what would you say for four others? I’m sorry, mister jinchriki. I can’t risk myself for your ass.’ Shooting all of her remaining swords at the square-faced man, she expected to leave behind a red stain on the ground in the place of the Rinnegan user and the held-captive jinchriki of Six-Tails.
The chubby man jumped in front of her attack. Confidently putting his hands in front of the massive blades, it looked like he tried to block her attack. Instead, he got skewered by the swords.
“Enough!” the spiky-haired individual’s voice thundered, repelling all four swords with his ability.
‘Interesting, they don’t lose their teamwork as their numbers dwindle. There are always at least two pairs of Rinnegans looking straight at me.’ she noted. Grinning at the spiky-haired man, she spoke mockingly to him. “Hey, Tangerine. You don’t share the thoughts of your little puppets, do you? I think you share only the field of vision. If so, then I have some ideas about how to deal with- Eh?”
Kaname saw her most recent kill just walk out perfectly fine from behind their’s medics back. Looking at the last known position of the chubby man, she noticed that the massacred orange-haired corpse disappear.
‘What is going on? Instant regeneration? No, there are footprints of an animal?!’ Kaname’s Sharingan discerned a reptile-like traces on the ground between the two last known positions of the corpses, ‘An invisible creature? The footprints are heading to this asshole at the back, and then to?… Damnit, this will most likely hurt, but I need to eliminate them one after the other.’ Kaname flickered above the last known position of the invisible enemy. Looking down, she noticed a camouflaged gigantic chameleon-like creature, ‘Just to be sure,… .’ (Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique) Kaname shot out a standard fireball towards the target, as she expected, the chubby guy jumped in front of the animal.
“!” As her body flew towards the spiky-haired man, Kaname observed as the chubby guy slowly absorbed her technique.
‘Not bad. The team had some kind of support shinobi and a jutsu absorber in the front row. The second row had attackers, a summoner, a puppet with monstrous weapons, and a self-proclaimed god. And in the last row an irynin being protected by them all.’ Kaname summarised, as her freely rotating body just now turned towards her flight target, she noticed a black rod aimed at her heart.
Seeing the trajectory of the attack, she couldn’t do anything but twist her body, so the spear-like weapon impaled her shoulder instead.
“Guh!” the blow left her breathless, just a moment later, she felt the vertigo of a foreign chakra invading her body. She noticed all six of her enemies, jumping towards her. Each one held a black-spear in hand, ready to nail her to the ground. ‘F.u.c.k this! !’ With a short instant boost of power, Kaname tore through the encirclement, gaining some distance from her enemies, letting her deal with the latest wounds.
Braking the sharp, but bristle rod stuck to her body, she violently pulled the other end from her back. Without the invasion of a foreign chakra, her head cleared a little bit. Looking at her enemies, Kaname noticed their summoner charging at her while preparing some hand-seals.
‘A chance! He is far away from the rest! ! Die you asshole!’ Pulling out her most powerful attack, Kaname shot out a medium-sized Tailed Beast Bomb. Moments before the explosion, the black ball of chakra stopped in its flight.
“What? He can summon other Rinnegan users?! Fuc-‘ Kaname exclaimed, seeing the chubby guy absorbing the super-condensed chakra ball. He and the spiky-haired guy popped in front of the summoner.
“” her body got flung away tumbling on the ground, she stopped after her ragdoll-like body embedded itself into a boulder, creating a cloud of dust, temporarily hiding her body from the group’s eyes.
“*Cough*.” Kaname coughed up blood.
‘Guh… Damnit, rib five and six punctured the right lung, hmm, the pain in my leg? Shit, the right thigh bone shattered. The right arm? Tsk … dislocated. F.u.c.k, I need some time to heal it. Susanoo? No, he can rip me out of it. Damnit! !’ She used her unique Mangeky Sharingan power in the last-ditch effort.
All six bodies slowly walked towards her, encircling her broken body, the square-faced irynin left the jinchriki body behind. As her red butterfly landed on top of the spiky-haired man, Kaname laughed out loudly.
“Hahahaha, *Cough* So that’s how it is. You don’t have a mind of your own, all six of you are reanimated corpses. Ha- *Cough*-haha. You’re all just pawns, the puppets. Where is your main body, where is the puppeteer, Tangerine? Those black rods are your chakra receivers? I know your little secret now. *Cough* Hahaha.” she shakily pointed her left hand at the spiky-haired man.
“Hmm, a pity. You would be a perfect addition to the Akatsuki. Take my secret to the grave Kaname Uchiha.” he replied, nailing her extended palm to the rock and splashing her blood on it.

(PoV: Pain)
“Agh.” Uchiha’s voice crumbled in pain. It is the end of her. She won’t be able to run away now. Making the Animal Path [AN: Summoner] take a step towards her, I noticed her head move towards my real position. She spat blood at Animal Path’s face and madly grinned.
“I see, your chakra is flowing from north-east. So that’s where you are hiding…” Her words made me stop for a second, “Hahahaha. I win.” she laughed out, looking above the Six Paths.
“Sayonara, Kaname Uchiha.” I used Yahiko’s mouth [AN: Spiky-hair] to reply.
The Animal Path nailed her abdomen.
The Preta Path [AN: Chubby] put the chakra receiver into her right arm.
The Human Path [AN: Long-haired] attacked impaling her neck.
The Asura Path [AN: Puppet] punctured her heart.
Seeing her body tremble in torment, I felt some pity for her, ‘Maybe an enemy, but such brave kunoichis should die in combat.’ Making sure the Uchiha is firmly nailed to the boulder, I walked towards her with Naraka Path [AN: Square-faced medic] to impale the last black receiver into her head. Her body slumped down on the black nails, the blood from the wounds quickly started pooling the ground beneath her feet.
[AN: *DUN-DUN-DUUUUN*… Google it if you don’t have an idea what I’m talking about :-D]

“It’s finished, Konan. She was one of the strongest opponents I had the displeasure to deal with.” I replied to the blue-haired woman that, as always, was standing by-my-side.
“Are you okay, Nagato?” Konan asked, worriedly taking my hand into hers.
“Tired, two consecutive fights drained me. I will just take the jinchriki- No! Where is he?!” All my Six Paths looked at the empty spot where the unconscious body of the Six-Tails jinchriki should lie.
From behind me, the *Poof* sound made me look back at the corpse of Kaname Uchiha, only to see a smoke cloud of a dispelled clone. Uchiha’s shadow clone got replaced by a glowing seal.
“No!” all seven of us shouted at the same time.
*KABOOM*
“Nagato?! What happened?! I heard the explosion even here!”
“The- The Naraka Path [AN: Medic]… Is destroyed, she played me out.” I admitted.
“But how? You said that you killed her.”
“*Sigh* That was only a clone, Konan. Madara was right – we should recruit her to the Akatuski at any cost. Kaname Uchiha was able to create a Shadow Clone Technique that can survive multiple hits. As it dispelled, it left behind a seal with most likely a custom explosion array. Only thanks to quick thinking, I was able to save five of the Paths. Naraka Path stood too far from Yahiko to protect it.”
“And what’s the situation? Do you need my help there?” Konan asked back.
“No, stay here. This woman was able to find out where we are. If she can defeat the rest of the Paths, she will most likely come here herself. As for the situation, the dust is everywhere. I don’t see anything.” I replied, looking around for the dark-haired woman.

[AN: OST TIME: Naruto Shippuden OST I – Heaven-Shaking Event]
One by one I reconnected the connection of battered Paths, I noticed the damage Uchiha’s attack has done, the Asura’s Path right side of the body had massive burns, his eye must have exploded from the due to shockwave. As soon as I regained the bearings of Animal Path, I summoned all four remaining Paths to me.
My group was instantly attacked from all sides by five shadow-clones with red swirling orbs in their hands. Using Yahiko’s ability to repel the attack, another clone fell from the sky in front of the Animal Path with a sword aiming to kill it.
‘Damnit, how does she know our positions in all of this dust?!’
Luckily, the Asura Path had its back turned to this clone, using its saw-like tail, I dissipated it. As its tailpiece impaled the clone, I noticed a massive fireball heading straight for Asura Path’s body.
I used the Preta Path to flicker in front of the Asura Path and absorb the Jutsu. As the fireball stopped in front of the Preta Path’s barrier, the ground beneath its feet crumbled. Kaname Uchiha’s body instantly shot out from the underground, her sword cut the Preta Path vertically in half. Before I was able to react, her body vanished back into the dust.
‘She destroyed one of the Paths in under five seconds! I need to see what’s going on here.’ Putting a lot of chakra into the , I blew the dust off.
Four Kaname Uchiha’s look-alikes were grinning at me, encircling all of my remaining Paths. Behind the four clones, I noticed hundreds upon hundreds of colorless space ripples aimed at the Paths.
With a blink of her eyes, a constant hail of projectiles shot towards my group. Trying to dodge the Uchiha’s attack, Deva Path and Asura Path jumped above the explosions. I sacrificed the Human Path to throw the Animal Path as high in the air as possible and made it summon the Deva and Asura Paths away from this hell.
As my remaining three Paths free-fell back towards the ground, Kaname’s projectiles aimed back at Deva Path. Three seconds later, the sky was lighted up by hundreds of explosions. As it was hard to aim at an accelerating target, most shots missed. A couple of the lucky ones grazed my bodies.
Seeing the barrage stop, I looked back down. The crater was empty, ‘Where is she!?’
Landing back on the ground, I made my last three Paths stand with their backs to each other. ‘Kaname will most likely again try to make me use the Yahiko’s repelling ability, before she attacks. I need to stop her before that happens. From below!’
The ground beneath the group feet exploded, from underground a building-sized white giant empaled the Asura Path, being the heaviest and slowest, with two of those gigantic swords.
Deva Path and Animal Path landed on two sides of the colossus.
“Funny, isn’t it? Now, it’s you that don’t know where my main body is. Maybe I’m behind you. Maybe I retreated to my base. Or, maybe I went for a hike north-east from here.” her voice greeted me with audible mirth.
“Where is the Six-Tail jinchriki?” I asked the clone.
“*Tut-tut* No telling. You are one pain in the ass, do you know that, Tangerine?”
“Likewise, Kaname Uchiha.”
“” (AN: Complete Summoning Jutsu) Knowing that I may need help if she comes here herself. I sent every summon back my way.
“*Pooh* You are already running away, Tangerine?” the clone, protected by one of the best protection abilities, asked.
‘Ugh, she is waiting for my move. If I use Yahiko’s Rinnegan ability, I’m sure she will instantly barrage me with clones.’
“You still won’t move? Hmm, let me give you a freebie, I’m the last clone in here.” as Kaname Uchiha’s smile rose the clone’s chakra started to rise at an alarming rate, “!”
The clone darted out of the protection of the white goliath and shot out towards the Animal Path. I barely summoned Yahiko in time, the clone of Kaname Uchiha was only three steps away.
“!… Guh-!?” Instead of getting blown off by the repelling force, the clone stood its ground, facing one of my strongest abilities head-ons.
“HAAAAA!!!” With the last shout, the clone jumped above me and delivered her attack obliterating the Animal Path.
I noticed that both of us were breathing heavily.
“*Sigh* Are you ready to finish it? We’re both going by the fumes of chakra now, Tangerine.”
“… Come, let’s end this.” I acknowledged.
As we both charged into a taijutsu fight, I noticed the clone grinning at me. The moment I was able to punch it into the face, the clone popped out of existence – leaving behind a glowing seal.
“Damni-…”
*KABOOM*
———-
(PoV Kaname)
*KABOOM*
Kaname’s right arm was in makeshift arm-sling, she was slowly hobbling towards the coast, dragging the jinchriki’s unconscious body across the marshlands.
“*Tsk* If I created more clones, or had more chakra to spare, I could finish them all off…” she complained, “At the least, they won’t start looking for me anytime soon, Pain needs to regroup his forces. The clones did what they could with their limited chakra supply.”
Kaname looked at the beaten black and blue, scrawny jinchriki. His blue kimono already dirty by the underground voyage jutsu – she saved him with, was now containing multiple smudges of brown traces of dirt and polluted water. “You could at least wake up, Snail Boy. I’m barely standing as is.” Kaname said, dropping her shoulders, she continued to drag him towards the coast.
‘I said to wait for five minutes, not run away immediately, you asshole.’ Kaname’s red eyes zoomed in on Ao’s boat that already was near the coast of a neighboring island. “Huhuhu,” she cackled dangerously, ‘Don’t worry, Ao-san, I’m going to kill you just a tiny bit. .’ (Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique)
‘Not enough chakra for even a medium-sized fireball…’ She commented, observing as her projectile flew in an arc towards the ferry. Kaname laughed a little as she saw Ao panicking around his wooden boat.
“*Tsk* I missed…” she clicked her tongue as her jutsu landed in the sea next to Ao’s little ferry, making the waves crash into the boat’s side. At least the blue-haired man now sailed back towards her.
As her backup was on the way, Kaname could finally loosen up. ‘Ugh, I did not expect it,… Lights off.’ As the stress of the last fight left her tired body, her mind instantly shut down. Her back fell onto the sandy beach as her consciousness drifted away.
