Uchiha’s Butterfly - Volume 3 Chapter 86 Black Meets White
“Say what?! Repeat that!”
“Moron… Did you have to say that?” Utakata facepalmed.
“Ah. I’m not holding any secrets. I didn’t want you to get a notice of my blunder from another source, mom.” Kaname assured.
“*Sigh* Pray tell, how did you meet my nineteen years dead husband, Butterfly?”
“Hehehe.” Kaname awkwardly scratched the back of her head, “Let’s say – I got spirited away for a moment.”
“And unconsciously obliterated a squad of Anbu.” The brown-haired man added.
Kaname shrugged her shoulders, “Not my fault. I was ambushed by a group of S-rank criminals, it’s a miracle I’m still standing.”
“I see. Butterfly, considering the unique ailment you have, can you tell me what exactly happened?”
Kaname remained silent.
“I understand, Utakata-san, were you there?” the woman continued.
“Yes, I came late, but I was present there.”
“We will need to talk privately about this, Utakata-san. I always needed someone that could keep an eye on my problematic daughter. Now, Butterfly, what did Asato spoke about?”
“Hmm, that he will wait for you for another one hundred years? Weird, I thought you wouldn’t believe me. I thought of myself insane, I’m still not sure if it was only a dream.”
“Heh, Butterfly, nothing else than the words I privately said to Asato the night he left for the frontline would prove to me that you are sane,” Sachi replied with a calm smile. “Thank you. Now, I believe you have to take our guest for a tour of Konoha, don’t you? Chop~ chop~!”
—————
“Hoo~ look who have we got here.” Kaname greeted two people sitting side by side inside the Yakiniku-Q bar.
“*Sigh*, I hoped I wouldn’t meet you today, Kana-chan.” the green-haired woman complained.
“Yo.” the jnin seated next to Pakura nonchalantly waved towards Kaname.
“Ah, I would have forgotten. Introductions, it’s Snail Boy, my caretaker.” she slapped the blue kimono-clad man’s back.
“Forget it… My name is Utakata, I was deputed as Kaname-chan’s bodyguard, she is a magnet for trouble. Nice to meet you.”
“Yeah, we know a thing or two about that… Nice to meet you, I’m Hatake Kakashi.”
“Yep, she is one problematic girl. My name is Pakura.”
“Yes, yes. You went on a date and did not invite me? I feel annoyed.” Kaname mocked.
“A date is a two-people thing you know that Kana-chan?” the silver-haired man deadpanned.
“Wow, Doofus-kun, so it is a date. You aim very high… Senpai.”
“Yes, I do.”
“You know me, Kana-chan.” Pakura chimed in, “I have nothing against a big side project in the bushes.” she winked.
“Well, I can say you have…” Utakata considered his next words, “Unusual friends, Kaname-chan.”
“Hmm, just wait till you meet my self-proclaimed rival, we’re mild compared to him.”
“I will take Snail Boy to meet the Green Beast Duo in a moment, Doofus-kun. I’m organizing a party in the club, tomorrow night, are you two coming?”
“Sure, we will.” Pakura nodded her head.
“*Sigh* And why is it that it’s the first time I hear of that?”
“Because I thought of it right now, Snail Boy. Why? Is that a problem?”
“Yes, because, I. DO. NOT. DANCE.”
“Hmm? I will make you.” Kaname declared.
“… Damnit.”
—————–
(Utakata PoV – next night)
‘Ugh, the time of making a clown out of myself comes.’ I watched as Kaname happily fooled around with Anko, the Snake Girl, and Umino, her sister-in-law. The loud beats of the music were drowning out Kaname’s brother’s voice.
“Utakata?” Ryuichi shouted out.
“I’m sorry! I didn’t hear you over the noise!”
“Are you not going to join them?” he asked, pointing at the group.
“No, I never danced in my entire life,” I clarified.
“I see, but neither did my little sister. It’s her first time here.” Ryuichi filled two cups with sake, and passed one over, “For loosening up your muscles. A small tip for you, this is not about dancing – it’s about having fun.”
I took a swing, “Ugh, it stings!”
“Good, it’s the way it should work. And here she comes.”
After Kaname briefly talked with the silver-green-haired duo, she walked towards us and sat next to me.
“Aniki, one for me.” she put up her single finger and swiftly gulped the burning liquid, “So, will you sit here on your arse all night, Snail Boy?” she smirked towards me.
“Kaname-chan, are you sure you should drink today? You have to visit the academy tomorrow morning as a special guest.”
“I can deal with a hangover. And? Are you going to keep me waiting?”
“I’m sorry I can’t-”
She covered my mouth with her hand and pulled my hand towards the dance floor, “Just shut up and come with me.”
After humble beginnings, I slowly picked up the moves. Laughing and dancing around with Kaname and her friends, just somehow felt… right. The rest of the party have passed in a blink of an eye.
…
Kaname was tipsy, no, she was dead drunk, she was dragging her feet without any control whatsoever. I got voted out as her escort.
“Heh, you will have a very unappealing morning, Kana-chan.” I snorted, acting as her temporary crutch.
“Shot~ up~, Shnailh~ Boi~. *Hiccup*” she slurred happily.
“Do you want to go to Sachi-san’s place or your home?” I asked.
“Homeh~? Momsh~?” she tripped over her feet, luckily I held her tightly.
“*Sigh* It’s 4 a.m. let’s not wake your mother. Either way, we’re much closer to your home. I will leave you there and go back to the inn.” I was not sure if she understood my words, the sake hit her hard.
Ten minutes later, I escorted her back to her little mansion and set drunk Kaname down on a stool, she fought bravely but was unable to free her feet from her shoes.
“You are just hopeless.”
She laughed out when I quickly discarded her footwear. Pulling her hand, I caught Kaname in a princess-carry and escorted her back to her bedroom.
As I put her scalding hot body down on the bed, she propped herself up on her hand and muttered, “Stayh~ with me?” I felt my hand twitch in anticipation.
I observed her clearly flushed cheeks. Her white, loose short-shirt got skewed, it revealed her unblemished arm and her toned belly. “Damnit!” I berated myself, after a grand moral battle I unwillingly had to decline, “I would love to, Kana-chan. But you’re too drunk today, we will meet tomorrow. Sleep for now.” I left the room, turning the night light off. If only I heard Kaname’s next words…
“Hoo~, so you are not only after my body. I thought playing dead drunk would encourage you. Thanks, Snail Boy.”

(Ino PoV)
“Hi…” Sakura-chan shouted out to her new group of Sasuke-fangirls, “Eh? Why is everyone so tense today?”
“Sakura-chan,” I walked out towards her, even if we’re not friends anymore I need to warn her of coming calamity, it would leave a bad aftertaste if she bombs all her chances at Sasuke-kun with a stupid comment today.
“Ino-buta… What?! Is this another play from you? I will not give my Sasuke-kun to the likes of you!” (Buta – tl. Swine)
“*Sigh* Listen to me now, we will have a special visitor today. She is Sasuke-kun’s and Naruto-kun’s foster big sister and role model for all of the Real kunoichis.”
“Sasuke-kun has got a big sister? Is that the woman that took Baka-Naruto out of the classes? I never heard of her.”
“That’s why I put emphasis on ‘real’ kunoichis.” I jeered at her, and the group of civilians standing behind, “Does not matter, Sakura-chan. Just look at Shikamaru and Chji.” I pointed at the duo sitting in the middle of the class. For the first time, Shikamaru was sitting straight and awaited the start of the lesson. Chji had all his treats hidden deep in his backpack, even Kiba was sitting silently in his own desk.
“Ugh, is she so dangerous? I mean, she is only a single person. Mizuki-sensei and Iruka-sensei would protect us, wouldn’t they? And from where did you know that piece of info, Ino-buta?”
“Kaname-san is their teacher, from what I know Mizuki-sensei is scared shitless of her. There is a notice of her coming to the classes in the corridor, it was hung up yesterday. But I got to know of her visit thanks to the early warning from my papa. She is an amazing ally or a terrifying enemy, whichever you choose. Sakura-chan, as we were besties before, I think you should know that if you ever want to date Sasuke-kun, you need Kaname-san’s approval. I don’t want to win so easily against you, it’s not my style, I hope you won’t squander your chances.”
“Wait, what about Baka-Naruto? Aren’t you friends with the class clown?”
“*Sigh* A tip for you, if you ever call Naruto-kun that in front of Kaname-san, you will have a hard time as a kunoichi in the future.” I shrugged, walking back towards the Ino-Shika-Ch bench.
“Ugh, I- Thanks, Ino-chan.” I heard the mutter behind me.
Iruka-sensei entered the classroom with Mizuki-sensei right behind him, “Okay, class, let’s start the homeroom as soon as possible!” the scar-faced chnin shouted out. Iruka-sensei’s eyes scanned all of his students and stopped for a moment on Naruto-kun sitting in the first row. “Pft… Mizuki, roll call if you would.”
After making sure everyone is present, Iruka-sensei announced, “As some of you might know already, we will have a special guest today. Kaname Uchiha-”
“What?! Why I didn’t hear anything about that?!” Mizuki-sensei shouted out.
“*Sigh* Figures you would be the most adverse to the idea. The topic was spoken about in the last faculty meeting, Mizuki.” Iruka-sensei eye-rolled, “The one you missed because of ‘personal’ reasons. The motion was voted for, and the information was hanged up on the bulletin board in the corridor.” he explained.
Funnily I noticed Mizuki-sensei judge the classroom window as his only escape route. At least, until a loud tapping of heels sounded out in the quiet corridor. With each beat, a visible shudder went through the body of a white-haired chnin.
“From what I know, Kaname-sensei is here as a helper and will gladly respond to all your questions dealing with the life of an active shinobi. The lessons will be further followed as planned.” followed the scar-faced teacher.
I heard Kiba audibly sniffing the air multiple times, his brashness was obscured by the sound of the sliding doors being rapidly opened up. “What’s up, kiddos?” Kaname entered the class, greeting everyone with her melodious voice. It was the first time I saw her in a standard Konoha jnin uniform.
“She’s troublesome…” I heard from my left.
My foster aunt eye’s instantly centered on Shikamaru, instead of anger, I recognized mirth showing on her face.
“Some of you may know me already, others might have heard of me or not, my name is Kaname Uchiha. Nice to meet you. I’m a Konohagakure’s jnin and the third-best medic of the village. I will let your teachers continue with their lessons and await any of your questions.”
“Right, thanks, Kaname-sensei. Before we start, can you tell us what is your current mission, if it is not a secret.”
“Hmm, I’m not sure. Let’s call me an ambassador to one of the eastern countries,” she explained.
Kiba rose his hand.
“Hmm, Inuzuka-chan? What do you want to know?”
“Name is Kiba. If I may ask a personal question, sensei, why do I perceive Akamaru’s smell on you?”
“Hoo, you are Hana-chan’s little brother, are you not? Kiba-chan, you have a useful tool in there.” she tapped her nose, “The answer is easy. Hami-chan…” she called out.
A horse-sized ninken just materialized sitting next to the black-haired woman.
“The One-Eyed Wolf, Hamimaru-sama?!” my classmate exclaimed, as his small partner jumped off his shoulder and cutely pressed his head at the paw of Kaname’s bigger ninken. [AN: Orochimaru injured Hamimaru’s other eye – the chapter or two before the Kyuubi attack.]
“Hami-chan is Akamaru-chan one of your litter?”
The wolf nudged Akamaru with her nose, “*Woof*” the low happy bark shook the classroom windows, the wind caused by a quickly swishing tail, sent the loose papers prepared on the lectern flying.
“I see.” The woman replied.
“*Growl*.”
“Yes, Hamimaru-sama! I will!” Kiba knelt on the ground.
“Hey, Dog Breath, are you not overdoing it? It’s just Hamimaru-chan.” Naruto shouted out, “I rode on her from when I was one…”
“Idiot. You have no freaking idea, Hamimaru-sama is a legendary she-wolf. She wouldn’t let anybody like you ride on her back!” Kiba bickered back.
“Hina-chan rode on Hamimaru-chan’s back as well.” Naruto snickered, his eyes turned to the pinkette, expecting a harsh rebuking from Sakura, luckily she listened to my advice and stayed silent. Naruto’s eyes expressed astonishment, he turned to me and nodded his head in thanks.
Damnit! How Sakura-chan could be so blind, Naruto’s rugged looks and confident demeanor are freaking cool, he is cool as Sasuke’s if not even more! I will not give my blondie up to you, Hyga.
*Clap*
“Okay, enough. Any other questions?”
“Yes, Kaname-sensei!” Sakura chimed in, “I would like to ask you what diet are you carrying on to keep your body in shape?”
“Moron…” I murmured.
“Diet?” Kaname asked back, “What is your name?”
“Sakura Haruno.”
“So Sakura-chan, who told you to put your body under the regime of a diet?”
“What do you mean sensei? I would get fat and unattractive to…” her eyes turned towards Sasuke.
“*Sigh* Let me answer it in a roundabout way. Hina-chan, are you on a diet?”
“N-no, Nee-san.”
“Ino-chan, are you on one?”
I snorted, “No, as a future kunoichi, I don’t need one.”
“They have much worse grades than I have, sensei. I want to be better than two of them.” That comment was uncalled for, Big Forehead.
“Ah, you’re the class bookworm, keep going like that child, and you will become a librarian someday.” Kaname’s comment was met by a loud snickering across the classroom.
“Ugh, but…”
“Let me ask you a question. Let’s say we would now go to the training ground, and I let Hina-chan fight with you no holds barred, do you believe you would win a spar against a Hyga’s Jken?”
Nope, Sakura-chan would get obliterated like the rest of the class. I doubt even Sasuke-kun could be much of an opponent for a Hyga.
“Yes, now I see you do understand, girl. These are just academy grades, I shouldn’t speak about that in here, but what you are taught in here are just the basics, they at most have marginal use in the life of a real shinobi. It’s the way it always goes. The students coming from the distinguished clans have it easy, they don’t put much of an effort in the academy, they receive more training from their own clan members than in here. The academy is mostly for you, the civilians, to test your mettle against them. Now, about dieting, no civilian trains as much as any other of-the-mill shinobi, kunoichi or not, needs to diet. It’s a rare occurrence among the civilians, but each decade there is someone that spouts such crap. Daily exercises will see to that you always stay in shape. Yes, you can eat a selected, healthy food, but do not ever deprive your body of the nutrients it needs. I’m pretty sure many other students could destroy you in a spar only by outlasting you. Think about that.” she explained.
“… Thank you, sensei. I will.” Sakura replied shamefully.
“Kaname-san.”
“Yes, Iruka-chan?”
“Half of the things you said were unfitting for the ears of my young students.”
She shrugged her shoulders, “It’s the way the world works, sue me.”
“Ugh… Let us just continue with the lessons.” Iruka-sensei replied.
Kaname sat on the side of the classroom, listening to the boring lesson about chakra control. For ten minutes, Mizuki-sensei droned about the importance of it in our future lives. It looked like Shikamaru tried to fall asleep while sitting straight, but something stopped him from closing his eyes.
“What is going on?” I whispered to him.
“Look at the clouds, Ino-chan,” he replied.
“Hmm? They look normal to me?”
“It’s so troublesome… Look closer.”
“What are you talking about, Shikamaru?” Chji joined in on the questioning.
“Wait… The clouds, they’re not moving?”
“Yes, Ino-chan. We’re all in a massive genjutsu, it started the moment we heard Kaname-sensei’s loud heels in the corridor. What’s even more troublesome, is that every time I try to break myself free of it, she catches me again. Kaname-sensei is just playing with us. Ouch~!” A white piece of chalk struck Shikamaru-kun’s forehead.
“Can I help you with something?!” Iruka-sensei questioned the three of us with a tick mark showing on his forehead.
“We’re sorry, Iruka-sensei. It’s just that we have a question for our guest.” I tried to change the subject.
The world and the people around us stilled, I noticed a smile on the a.d.u.l.t Uchiha face, “Good job Shikamaru-kun, you were the first one to take notice of my experiment.”
“Thank you, sensei. If I may ask, who was the second one?”
“Iruka-kun, but he is still under my control. Next was Shino-chan, he has a good head on his shoulders, Hina-chan was fourth. Ino-chan, you were the fifth one.”
“Aunty, how did you caught us all in one massive genjutsu?” I questioned, “I thought it’s a much more individual aimed skill.”
“Ha, you know me, Ino-chan. It’s thirty percent for advancing my skills and the rest for funsies.”
“*Sigh*… Troublesome.”
“Hehe, you are an exact copy of your father, Shikamaru-kun. I believe it’s one of the biggest compliments I can give to somebody.”
“Thanks, sensei. Now, what? Will you let us go or torture the heck out of us with a boring lesson?”
“Either one you chose, but I believe you would hate to miss the end of this. I’m the Hokage’s spy on a mission, someone ruined the academy program. The old-man wants to know who and why. I explained everything to Iruka-chan – he is your ally in the academy. He can’t act against his superiors, so Iruka-chan will act reluctant today, all of you can trust him with anything while I’m absent. Now, I believe you had enough of Mizuki droning about a thing he knows nothing about, what about I make the lesson much more interesting from now on?”
“Yes, please.”
“Can we just eat something instead?”
“Are you going to take over the lesson? I always heard from my cousin that you and your mother were the last genuine teachers in this academy. I would even wake up early to attend one of your tutorings.”
“Will do, Shikamaru-kun,” Kaname-san replied, the world of illusion restarted back in its tracks.
“So? What is the question?” Iruka-sensei inquired.
“Eh-?”
“What? You wanted to ask a question, we don’t have all day, Ino-chan.”
“Eto…”
“Let me ask you back, Ino-chan.” Kaname-san had a mischievous smirk on her face, “I always thought you tried to become a little miss Uzumaki, why did I notice you have the same fond eyes on my second little brother?”
“NO, I WILL NOT ANSWER THAT!” I shouted loudly, with my cheeks blushing madly.
“Oh, really?”
“I’m gunning for them both!” before I was able to close it, my mouth unconsciously confessed my secret. Looking at the objects of my crush, I noticed the two of them were still frozen in the genjutsu, my friends sitting next to me were suspended as well, “*Growl* I hate you, aunty… You almost gave me a heart attack!”
“Hahaha, that was unexpected, I wish you luck, Ino-chan! When I restart, just ask for my favorite color or something.”
“*Sigh* Are you going to ask the question, Ino-chan? I had enough of you staring at me.”
“Yeah, I’m sorry, Iruka-sensei. I have got a question, for you Kaname-san. What is your favorite color?”
“Red,” she answered instantly, winking at me.
“*Sigh*” Iruka-sensei massaged his forehead, “… Mizuki, continue the lecture.”
“Nope, I think it’s enough.” Kaname-san interrupted them, with an audible sigh of satisfaction from the majority of the classroom.
“What do you mean by that?” Iruka-sensei questioned her.
“Iruka-chan, is that the way I ever taught you? Were my lessons ever boring to any of my students?”
“No, but it’s the new teaching program, Kaname-sensei, it’s more civilian friendly. I can’t work against the higher-ups.”
“Let me deal with them. Kids, it’s enough theory for one day, come with me outside.”
As we grouped up on the training field, Kaname-san argued, no, she ordered two teachers to distribute kunais between the students.
“*Sigh* Kaname-sensei. The academy does not have real kunai’s anymore, all we have are the dulled training ones.”
“Say what?”
“According to the vice-principal, the sharp blade could hurt the students. Third years start their throwing training, without experience many weapons do not hit the target, it’s a precaution.” Iruka-sensei explained.
“Wow, that’s… so wrong, it’s just amazing. Do you want me to say that tree climbing is too dangerous as well?”
“Yes, it was deleted from the program two and a half years ago, considered as too risky for young children.”
“Did you ever tell them that you’re training basically a bunch of young killers? Would an enemy just skip from killing a child just because of its age? Whatever, I will let you use some of my kunais, just distribute them.” she ordered, with a flick of her hand a big pile of shiny kunais dropped in front of her feet.
“A storage seal. Ingenious.” I heard Shino-kun’s voice murmured behind my back.
“How did you found out we are in genjutsu, Shino-kun?” I tried to use my sweet voice on him.
“Unnecessary, it’s not much of a secret. Kikaij are unaffected by the mind-altering techniques. They warned me of it, the moment it was cast.” he informed.
“Sis! Catch!” I heard Naruto-kun’s voice. He threw his kunai at Kaname-san’s head.
“Hmm?” the kunai vanished a hairbreadth away from her head.
“Who gave it to you, Naru-chan?”
“Wait! Don’t listen to him! He must have found the kunai in a dumpster!” Mizuki-sensei joined in with panic in his voice.
“We need to talk. Now.” Kaname-san caught the chnin’s nape and dragged him away from the students.
—————
(Kaname PoV)
“Mizuki-chan, are you plain stupid, or are you just a masochist?”
“You- you can’t give him a sharp weapon, who knows what the demon would do with it.”
‘I will just kill him and be done with it.’
‘No, Sensei. Let me explain everything to Jiji, he will deal with Mizuki.’ Koji’s voice sounded in my head.
‘Go.’
“As reluctant to acknowledge it as I am, you are still one of my students. I promise – I will not tell Hokage-sama about your hand in anything personally. You know how I deal with my promises. I need to know, are you in the group that is responsible for the slow destruction of the ninja academy? I need to know that.” I made sure he spoke the truth by activating my Sharingan.
“I- I. It’s not my fault, alright?! They paid me well.” he broke.
“Who did?”
“I do not know the details, vice-principal has wealthy friends in the Fire City. They are pulling all the strings in Civilian Council nowadays.”
“So you just betrayed your village. I can’t say I’m astonished of your conduct. Now, let’s talk about my little brother, why are you mistreating Naru-chan?”
“He is a dem~!”
“Okay enough, a week after his birth, Hokage asked the entire shinobi force of Konoha to treat the baby as our savior. Instead, you and your ilk ceaselessly trashed the boy throughout his entire life. The old-man promised he will come down like a ton of bricks on anyone mistreating the boy.” The sky turned blood red in an instant, ill.u.s.trating my anger, Mizuki understood that he f.u.c.k.i.e.d up and started running away from me, “What did you think I WOULD DO?!”
Mizuki’s body started floating in the air, in the next moment, it propelled itself towards the academy wall, “NOT AGAIN!”
*CRASH*
“Kaname-sensei?” Iruka carefully walked towards me.
“I’m sorry, I had to take the trash out. You will have to look for another assistant Iruka-chan, Mizuki won’t see any daylight for a couple dozens years.”
“Did you hurt him?”
“We’re in a genjutsu, Iruka-chan. I was this close to just rip his head out, but someone stayed my hand. I will hold him under until he is secured deep inside the T&I department. So, where were we?” I walked towards the group of wide-eyed students and one stupidly grinning blonde.
“Tree-climbing ~ttebayo!”
“Ah, right. Excluding Naru-chan, Sasuke-chan, and Hina-chan, whoever reaches the treetop without using the hands can hold onto the kunai as the trophy.”
“Boooo~ it’s not fair.” Naruto booed my decision.
“How do you want us to reach the top, Kaname-sensei?” the pinkette asked.
“Naru-chan, a little demonstration for our dear pink bookworm.”
“Heh,” he smirked, Naruto put both of his feet on the tree bark and stood horizontally to the ground.
It was clear as day that most of his classmates looked at him in a very different light, even Ino-chan was blushing. With the demonstration of chakra control shown by Naruto, the rest of the kids dashed towards the trees to try it on their own.
“So Hinata-chan and Sasuke-kun know how to walk on the trees as well?”
“Of course they do, Iruka-chan.”
“*Sigh* Why did I ever doubt you. I knew that Naruto-kun was taught by you. If I can guess, he holds his grades the way you want him to. No, all three of them do that, don’t they?”
“Maybe…”
“And why is that, Sensei?”
“Oh, it’s nothing major. I’m just pulling a four-year-old prank on Jiji, and creating this generation Densetsu no Sannin team.”
“… Sannin?! I shouldn’t have asked.”
“Hahaha!”
