Uchiha’s Butterfly - Volume 3 Chapter 89 Scaredy Cat
“It took you some time, Kana-chan.” he scolded, “Is my name of your utmost importance right at this exact moment?” the masked man inquired, taking a seat on sleeping Isobu’s head.
“I came here for your atonement Obito-chan, and, truth to be told, some anger management from my side.”
“*Sigh* You still do not understand you got caught in a trap? I thought you were sharper than that.” Obito snapped his fingers – white tree roots materialized on Kaname’s ankles and wrists and rose her high above the floor. Her late friend floated to her side, “I could shutter your mind so easily as snapping my fingers, Kana-chan.”
“Heh. Yeah, I know, do you remember what I joked about when we last met, Obito-chan? You will never defeat me.”
“I already did.” he replied, “Today I will have to kill you once and for all. Unfortunately, you became a hindrance to our plan.”
“Meh, it didn’t count. How could I know it was you eleven years ago? Can you at least deal with this stupid mask? You look like a kid wearing it.”
“… You always knew how to irk me.” he put his opened palm on the front of his mask and pulled it above his face and long-shaggy black hair. Kaname thoughtfully squinted her eyes, looking at Obito. The right half of his face was left heavily scarred after the events in Kusagakure. The old injuries resembled deep wrinkles. His left eye was closed, most likely hiding an empty socket. Kaname was sure she looked at her deceased friend, one she mourned and wept for, the self-proclaimed future Hokage, now turned traitor.
Feeling the anger building, she replied savagely, “Wait, put the mask back on! You look like someone’s crapped out half-eaten hairy avocado.”
“Nothing I did not expect out of you, but it still hurt for me to hear it from your lips… Let me repay you.” Kaname’s body shuddered in a mind-numbing pain, just for a blink of a moment, the blood in her veins turned into a scolding hot liquid lead, her mouth opened in a voiceless cry of pain as she slumped in her bonds.
*Slap*
“Wake up, Kana-chan. I did not finish our talk.”
“R-…” she mumbled.
“Hmm?” he floated closer to her.
“Rin-chan… would be disgusted with you, as am I.”
“Don’t speak about Rin and things you do not know about, Kana-chan. I can’t kill your body, but with your mind shattered, I could leave you brain-dead for the rest of your life. If they kill my puppet, your mind will die with me.”
“I may have overlooked that part, luckily, you’re just a shadow of your real body. I don’t have to hold back.” She tried to lace her voice with chakra, but to her astonishment, she failed.
“And how, pray tell, are you going to do that without an ounce of chakra control?” Obito lifted his eyebrow in question.
“Ugh… I give. You win this match, Obito-kun.” Kaname sank her head in self-disappointment.
“No. There is still something you are hiding, and I want to know what.” Obito sucker-punched Kaname’s abdomen, knocking the air out of her lungs and breaking a rib.
“Kiss my ass. If you are so godly in here, why don’t you try to read my mind, eh?”
He squinted his eyes at her and growled out, “You sealed your memories? What are you hiding?!”
“Hahaha, I believe it is obvious.” A face with a trademark Uchiha smirk replied to him. “I do not know myself.”
“If you want to live, you will release those seals right now, Kana-chan.”
“Oh no, will you kill me, Obito-chan? Who knows, maybe my past self aimed for that outcome and prepared some countermeasures.”
“… Damnit!”
“Hahaha, are you scared of your own little Kouhai’s concocted plan?” she mocked.
“*Sigh* I can keep the Slime occupied for as long as I need. There are better ways to make sure you will spill the beans.” Obito once again snapped his fingers, Kaname felt the bile of liquid rising in her throat, a second later, her mouth filled with iron-like taste.
“I erased your right lung, but don’t you worry, Kana-chan. I can just as easily recover it and repeat the procedure. Now, drop your seals.”
Kaname spat a blob of her blood – hitting Obito squarely above his nose. She smiled, showing off her red-stained teeth, “Make me.”
——
“RAAWR!” Isobu howled a primal cry of rage as his older brother thrown him towards the mountain-side.
Saiken in a white armor and butterfly wings floated above his younger brother, “Stop it! I don’t want to hurt you.” With a low growl as an only warning, an enormous pillar of water shot out from the ground hitting the Six-Tailed beast in his right wing-tip, making his extra attachment disperse for a moment. Saiken plummeted back down, destroying a big patch of forest with his inadvertent descent. “As you wish, let’s do it the hard way…” Before he collected himself up, several coral structures grew on each of his appendages, nailing the slug to the ground.
“Hoo~ you got new tricks, Isobu?” the white armor withdrawn from Saiken’s feet, arms, and tails, letting him ‘snail’ out from the restraints.
“*GROWL*.”
“You can gape at me all day, but we’re tight on time right now, brother.” Five Bij-sized red-swords aimed at Isobu. Noting the danger of quickly approaching weapons, the turtle hid in his impenetrable shell and started spinning, deflecting the projectiles. The still rotating beast charged at his enemy, simply crashing through any obstacle by obliterating it.
Saiken caught the huge spiky ball in his arms, “Hahaha! How do you like this, Little brother? Now that I have proper arms, we can wrestle to your heart’s content!” he laughed out, “Grah!” and threw his sibling over his arm. Instead of turning around, Isobu continued bulldozing forward towards the horizon.
“I see – you are going for the sea. You always were the brawn type. It looks like Kaname-chan was right, I’m talking to a person hidden behind a mask of a Bij.”
“Saiken-san, we have got a problem!” Mei called out, protected inside the Susanoo cloak.
“What is it?”
“It’s about Kana-chan. She dropped on the ground and started spasming.” a beady eye on a small light-blue tentacle turned towards the worried woman. Mei was fighting a trashing around the black-haired woman caught in her own trap.
“Did I say how much I hate Kana-chan’s plan?” Utakata questioned his friend.
“Yes, Utakata, several times already. Kana-chan is smart, believe in her, she knows what she is doing.”
“She did not mention anything about getting her mind flayed! *Sigh*… You are right, I’m sorry. We need to catch ourselves a turtle.”
“Saiken-san!” Mei shouted out, looking closer at his partner’s mate, there was a steady rivulet of blood coming from her nose and ears.
“We’re quickening up the plan, just keep Kaname-chan from drowning in her own blood,” he ordered, rushing behind his leashed little brother.
—–
Saiken used Susanoo’s swords to create a wall and stopping the bulldozer just before he reached the shores, “Leave the body of my brother alone, fiend!” the slug exclaimed, floating above the turtle. Saiken heard a very guttural laugh of mockery coming from inside the shell.
‘Tsk… I’m sorry, Isobu.’ the tengu mask withdrew from Saiken’s face, letting him shot out a big-sized black ball of chakra down onto his brother’s shielded back.
*KABOOM*
“Have you got him?”
“I doubt it, partner.”
Thirty seconds after the explosion, the air got clouded by a thick mist, “As usual, your defense is no joke.” Saiken commented sourly, “Plan B.”
“Are you sure, Saiken-san? Kana-chan could get hurt if I let her trash around without supervision.”
“Look out!” Utakata called out, warning his partner from three coral spikes aimed at Saiken’s head. Luckily, Susanoo’s defense protected the slug and Mei sitting on top of his head.
“We can’t wait, we go with plan B. I’m not sure your mate will survive it.” Saiken’s voice rang out towards Mei.
“Yagura-kun is NOT my mate!” Mei shouted back with reddened cheeks, looking as both beasts clashed in head to head struggle.
Utakata felt his consciousness flow into his Six-Tailed partner’s body, the jinchriki felt his small pool-like chakra-reserves grow into ocean-sized amounts. “Now!” the beast called out.
With almost limitless chakra, Utakata called out, “” [Water Release: Bubble Technique – Gasoline]
After his partner melded the chakra for the technique, Saiken quickly took control of his body back and expelled thousands of tiny soap bubbles holding a light-yellow liquid. Each bubble popped once it reached its target and released the contained fluid. As two beasts were still wrestling between each other, both of them soon were soaking in the liquid.
“Get away from him, Saiken!” the brown-haired jinchriki called out.
“Easier said than done!” the Six-Tailed chakra beast nailed his brother’s tails to the sand and flew above him, half-diving in a sea. “Mei-san, light him up!”
“I’m so sorry, Yagura-kun. .” [Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique] Between the two mountain-sized beasts, her fireball looked like small candlelight, but once it neared the turtle, the entire arena flashed in a massive pillar of blazing fire. The roar of pain must have been heard in half of the Land of Water.
Saiken watched his brother tear his tails out, running for the water, preparing to stop him, the Bij heard the voice of his host, “Let him, Kana-chan made sure that the substance burns on the water as well.”
It took three long-minutes before there was a very crispy turtle slash crab wheezing tiredly on the ground, “*Sigh* Didn’t I say Isobu’s defense is one big BS? I will pull my brother out and nail him to the ground. Mei-san, you know what to do.”
——-
It took Obito two minutes before some seals on Kaname’s memories fell. He watched as she, with his old friends, cried over his empty grave. He experienced her mourning the day after the Nine-Tails Attack. “Not this! WHAT IS YOUR PLAN!?” he punched her squarely in the jaw.
Kaname’s body was already seeping with blood, she gurgled and spat some blood, “You were always like that.” she commented.
“*Growl* Drop the seals now, or I will kill you, consequences be damned!”
“Ha! Always the scaredy-cat. Look closer.” Obito watched her recent memory of training with a silver-haired man. He quickly recognized Her murderer – Kakashi got much older than the last time Obito saw him, but, minus the headband covering his left-eye, everything else was the same. He listened to their conversation, watching everything from Kaname’s eyes, Obito was only a hand away from killing his rival once and for all. Unfortunately for him, his hand did not move, nor did it strike at meditating Kakashi’s back.
“Ugh, how do you keep it running for long, Kana-chan?” the silver-haired jnin questioned, “The chakra requirements just for the activation are insane!”
“It comes with being an Uchiha. Keep the eye closed for a moment, Doofus-kun. I will remove the headband slowly. If you feel it’s too much, we can stop it today.”
Kakashi slowly opened his left eye, Obito watched the reflection of Kaname’s smiling face in his given-away Sharingan. He felt her body tremble in shock, looking thoughtfully at the red-eye, he noticed why. Kakashi’s left eyeball had evolved into three stretched triangles evenly spaced around the pupil, each curving at the top around the eye to form a circle. His rival, Rin-chan’s murderer, gained Mangeky Sharingan.
Obito watched Kaname’s face clearly mirrored her emotions, the first shock quickly turned into happiness, as she understood that he was still alive. The positive feelings were quickly replaced by the grief of what he had done to her and the people she held close. Then, as she finally understood who he was, the rage tensed all the muscles in her body.
“Kana-chan?”
“I’m sorry, Kakashi. Not now. I have a traitor to catch.” her venomous voice seethed out, as she turned on her heel and bolted towards the Land of Water.
Obito groaned, coming back into the present. “Me? A traitor? It was Konoha that betrayed me!” he burned the nerve endings inside Kaname’s body, making her squirm in the bonds. He felt some seals on her memory drop once again and quickly delved into one.
“You… How could you?” he asked a moment later.
“… What is it now, Scaredy Cat?” Kaname mumbled out.
“How could you kiss one of them? They are the reason Rin-chan died that day!”
“Hmm? I doubt you mean my kiss on Naru-chan’s cheek. So what do you have against the Snail Boy?”
“And you call me a traitor? You are mingling with an enemy! The Mist will always want to destroy Konoha, just look at what happened with Rin-chan!”
“Ah! So it’s all coming down to that?”
“What?!” he questioned her.
“About you not getting laid?”
“*Growl*.” her mockery resulted in another painful round of torture.
“Ugh… How. Just tell me how could someone so likable devolve into something like this, Obito-chan.”
“I was taught that our world is hell. And I’m going to change it for the better.”
“Can you at least tell me who?”
“No,” he cut the conversation, preparing to finish his last friend.
“The Akatsuki Leader… No, was that Madara Uchiha?” she asked, ignoring his raised hand.
“Eh? How?!” Obito exclaimed.
“*Sigh*… I guessed. He was knowledgable enough to cheat death for some time, Madara was one of the few that knew the secrets of evolved Sharingan. You impersonated him for some time. Hey, Obito-chan, is the zombie still alive?”
“…”
“So, he isn’t. You would threaten me with him. Is that ‘sharp’ enough for you, Obito-chan?”
“You have a scary mind, Kana-chan. Take note of it, because you will lose it soon.”
“Before that. Can I give you a freebie, from this scary mind of mine?”
“Hmm, I’m interested.”
“What did you learn about Uchiha Madara in the Academy, Obito-chan?”
“He~ Are we going back to school, is this some kind of a test?”
“Just answer the question.”
“The strongest Uchiha in history, he fought with the First Hokage and lost the battle. Luckily for me, the news about his death was very premature.”
“And? What about his personality?”
“Hmm…”
“Maybe, a master manipulator rings a bell, you imbecile?” she seethed out.
“Ugh. You do not understand! Madara-sama wants to repair our broken world. He promised me-”
“Yeah, congrats, Obito-chan! You were promised something from a literal god of deception. I can’t wait to watch when it all blows up in your face.” Kaname interrupted him.
“… F.u.c.k. Somehow I know you are right. Once I finish with you, I will send a note to my true body, thanks for that, Kana-chan.” As Obito finished, the white room they were in instantly started turning into a sunny lake. He felt his powers leave his body, making him fall back on the ground.
“Yeah, that. I’m sorry, now I remembered my plan.” Kaname, fully healed, floated above Obito. She was brimming with the red hue of power, “If you die on the way, tell Madara that he should stay away from the world of the living, or I will send his dead ass back where it came from.”
“What did you do?!”
“You always got caught up in your own interpretations. I was looking for information about you.”
“F.u.c.k you, Kana-chan. What now, will you kill me?”
“Meh, you are just a shadow. I believe there is someone here that has much more grievance with you.” She replied, “Isobu-chan!”
Obito watched as a mountain slowly rose from the lake, “!” he called out, but instead of disappearing in a time-space swirl, he caught his head as in pain, “What have you done?!”
“A little gift from me to Isobu-chan. To even the odds. Ah right,” Kaname snapped her fingers, “for your today’s unpleasant company, I leave you without any control over your chakra. Have fun!” Kaname disappeared, letting an enormous turtle glare at the last remaining Uchiha.
“… Hahaha, her mind is as scary as hell.” Obito watched a huge black ball of chakra focalizing in front of Isobu’s head.
