Uncovered - Volume 1 Chapter 22
“I didn’t expect that”, I said, making her laugh slightly.
” He loved everything that had to do with art; painting, music, singing, just everything. I remember when he was little and he would spend his whole day sitting there and playing the piano. He always had a smile on his face he loved it until—”
She was cut off by a weird noise coming from the hallway. She turned to look at me puzzled as I did the same and we both stood up from the couch, to stand up straight.
“I think Jace is back”, She said and I nodded, playing with the sleeve of the sweater I was wearing. I could hear footsteps echoing in the house followed by another sound, which I couldn’t exactly make out what it was. But the thing made me narrow my eyes was the sound of the heel slamming against the floor. He wasn’t alone. A woman was with him.
“Is he…” I started to say, but stop when two figures appeared in the middle of the big hallway near the grand staircase. It was Jace and the lady… kissing. Her hands were on his neck and hair, pulling at the roots and he was moving all over her body. And as much as, I hate to admit it, I couldn’t help myself from remembering how his warm hands felt on my skin. I really couldn’t describe the way I was feeling at the moment. I was angry, I hated him, I felt used and, even though, I wouldn’t admit it out loud, I think, I was jealous. I don’t know why I wanted to go there and pulled her away.
What the hell is wrong with me?
I shook my head and looked at the Agnes to find her turned around with her back facing them, but I couldn’t look away. It was impossible. They hadn’t noticed us since the lights were off but, I could see them clearly. He was kissing her neck and lips hungrily and she m.o.a.ned a bit too loud, making me cringe in disgust.
“Let’s go upstairs”, She told him and he kissed her neck, still holding her close to his body and before they could disappear he looked towards my direction, our eyes meeting briefly before a smirk appeared on his face. Then they went upstairs to continue what they wanted so badly to finish.
” They are gone”, I informed to Agnes as I crossed my arms over my chest angrily. That bastard, he knew I was watching them.
“That boy will never learn”, Agnes complained.
” You mean he does that a lot?”I asked and she nodded.
“When he has problems he goes out and either comes back completely Drunk or with a woman”, She said and started walking towards the opposite direction, to her room.
” Good night”, I told her and she turned to me with a half-smile.
“Let’s hope it will be a good one”.
Agnes was totally correct about last night, it wasn’t a good night, not at all. The lady Jace had decided to bring home was a screamer and needless to say that all I could listen at all night was her annoying m.o.a.ning and screaming. The fact that my room located just under Jace’s made it even worse for me then for Agnes. So here I was now, in the kitchen with the mug of coffee in my hand, trying to keep my tired eyes open. Jace was again gone, I really couldn’t understand where he got his energy since he was working all night.
But the noise wasn’t the only thing that angered me, it was also the fact that he knew I was standing there watching them and didn’t stop. Was he trying to show me something? What was he trying to prove?
” Damn it”, I cursed, putting the mug down.
He is getting under my skin and I can’t let that happen. From now on I will not worry or show any interest in what Jace does. I will not let him win whatever game he is playing.
And I also realized something else today. I wasn’t jealous of him, I actually pitied him. I pitied him because his life was sad and empty and he tried to fill that gap with unimportant him with women and alcohol.
I’m not jealous of Jace.
“Teresa, someone is here for you”, Sandra’s voice was heard from behind me, interrupting my thoughts and turned to look at her.
” Who?” I asked, starting to get scared again. Don’t tell me he actually came.
“I don’t know he didn’t say his name. He is outside in the gate”.
” Okay, I will go see him, you stay here”, I told her and she nodded, seeming a bit confused. I quickly stood up from the chair I was sitting and hurried to the front door.
Now I was fully awake and alert. I opened the front door and narrowed my eyes, trying to catch the glimpse of the man standing near the gate, but I couldn’t, so I started walking towards him until he in the complete view. When his eyes met mine it felt like I couldn’t breathe, I hoped to never have to see him again. That face I never wanted to see.
“What are you doing here?”
He was the last person I expected to see.
