Common Honorifics:
-san: A polite suffix, but not excessively formal.
-kun: A common suffix among friends and younger people.
-chan: A common suffix among people you’re close with, mostly used for feminine nicknames and girls, since it’s cutesy and childlike.
The school that was previously filled with glimmer and exciting decorations everywhere was now back at its normal state. Students could be seen leading their normal lives, though the subject of most groups’ conversations was still the band performance at the festival.
Though one thing could be noted: the envy directed at Yuki only grew after her showing on the stage.
In the past, people who came to see her in class were all from our grade, but now even sophomores and seniors came to catch even a glimpse of her. Seeing her radiant figure and talent was captivating, for sure. Not only boys gathered but also girls, showing that her popularity transcended the gender barrier.
While her popularity was also insurmountable, another beautiful girl could be seen in the same class. Students also gathered to gaze at Akina with great enthusiasm, and some even expressed regret in not being born a year or two earlier.
Yuki replied politely to the gathering students, and Akina was still flabbergasted by that large number of people. As I watched their popularity grow and grow from my seat by the window, I noticed a figure on the other side of the crowd.
He glared into the classroom with a grim look on his face… It was Abusaki, the most handsome guy on the whole school, even being called a prince among the girls. And that same guy was rough with Yuki, called Akina ugly, and ran off laughing after roughing me up in the ball game tournament.
And it was apparent he was different from everyone else. Something seemed to be bothering him, and I noticed he stared at something with knives for eyes.
He wasn’t looking at either of the girls, rather he was staring right at the corner of the classroom… At me. The moment our eyes met, he clicked his tongue and disappeared somewhere else. I have no clue as to why, but I sense deep hostility from him.
“What the hell is up with that guy…?”
The start of class soon loomed over every student, and they all returned to their respective classes. A few seconds later the chime signaled the start of another class-riddled day.
Morning classes ended and lunch break just began. I decided to spend my recess relaxing on the rooftop with Yuki, eating our lunch together.
“Haru-kun”
“Hey, Haru.”
Before I could say anything, Yuki, who sat next to me, and Akina, who sat in front of me, both called me at the same time. I was at loss as to how to react, and that’s when Yuki signaled that Akina could go first.
“Go ahead, Akina-san.”
“Thanks, Shirahato-san. I’ll go first then.”
After that brief exchange, she nodded and told what she wanted to tell.
“Actually, the president of the student council wants to talk with you, Haru, so how about having lunch at their office?”
“The president wants to talk to me? What is it about?”
“I heard she’s interested in you, but apart from that, I really don’t know.”
“Interested in me?”
I’ve never talked to the president before. I’d only briefly seen her when asking for a bit of Yuki’s time after her performance. I wonder what I could’ve done to pique her interest?
“I’ll decide on it after I hear what Yuki wants to say, too. So, what’s it about?”
“Same thing as Akina. I was asked by the president to call you to the council office so she could have a word with you.”
“I see, same story,” I nodded.
So the prez went out of her way to tell both Yuki and Akina to call me, and it seems she really wants to talm to me. Regardless, I have no clue as to the reason why, so all I can say is that I’m a bit baffled.
“I’ll go with you, Haru-kun, so don’t worry,” Yuki added.
“Me too. I’m sure you’ll be nervous being one-on-one with the prez, whom you don’t know very well.”
“Oh, if you two don’t mind. Please take care of me.”
The student council president is the crème de la crème of the school, having won the elections since her freshman year and winning every year since. I must be careful not to say anything bad or something.
After preparing myself a bit, I headed to the office with Yuki and Akina.
