Undying Warlord - Chapter 521 Ancient Shop
Almost 24 hours had passed since Dilan had entered the Primary Ancient Battlefield.
His Ancient Points had increased to far more than a million in the meantime even if he didn’t fight against many monsters. Most of the time, Dilan was focused on talking with Rex and finding out what his friends had done in the last six months.
Apparently, they had become a small group of mercenaries, who were hunting the Chaos Monsters all over Arikan. They had been employed to do that specific task, and in exchange, they received treasures, Essence crystals, and other stuff. Their gains were big but so were the dangers and risks they would face.
Dilan knew that they had to fight against powerful opponents to get their hands on what they desired most, either way, so he was not actually surprised when he heard that his friends had become mercenaries.
It was one of the best jobs one could accept and earn twice as much as others, after all, one would not only get the rewards for completing the given missions but also the Essence Crystals that they could absorb.
If not for the Undying Group, Dilan would have probably reconsidered becoming a Mercenary as well. However, right now, it was not worth it for him. He was able to make the most gains by hunting specific monsters to turn their body parts into weapons, armaments, food or sacrifice them in exchange for Dungeon Points.
As for their Essence crystals, he would either absorb them or hand them over to the Trading Hub. There were often times when potion making or blacksmithing required Essence crystals and a specific type or variety at that.
Thus, it was always helpful to have a bunch of Essence crystals stockpiled in the Trading hub, ready to be used at any time.
“So you’re a leader now…that’s unexpected,” Rex laughed, slapping his friend’s back. Dilan responded with a smile but there was not much for him to say in that regard.
“I didn’t expect it to happen as well,” He shrugged his shoulders and looked back at a huge skirmish that started not too long ago.
“Do you want to join this?” Dilan asked but Rex shook his head.
“I will have to leave now. I told the others that I will be back after a few hours, and a day has already passed. Let’s meet each other again. Come to Arikan, and let’s have some fun like in the old times!” Rex suggested, fist-bumping Dilan, who nodded his head. Dilan looked at Rex for quite a while before he saw him turning into countless particles.
Dilan switched his attention to the warfare when Rex was just about to disappear for good when he noticed something out of the corner of his eye.
Yet, instead of doing something, Dilan remained completely calm and he acted as if he didn’t notice a thing.
“It’s not the same anymore, isn’t it?” He mumbled to himself when he was certain that Rex had disappeared. When his friend had been about to disappear, Dilan could clearly feel that Rex’s expression had changed drastically. His friend’s green eyes had begun to glow and they turned emotionless.
“Was that just him being wary of my strength, or is there more behind it?” Dilan wondered, but he also knew that there was no point in thinking a lot about Rex’s behavior just moments before he disappeared.
It might have been just a mistake on his side, something he misunderstood, or Rex must have seen something farther away that enraged him. Dilan was not even sure when he would meet his friends again and he didn’t want to say that something was wrong with one of them just because he felt a little bit odd at the end.
‘In the end, it might have been me, who has changed and not Rex,’ He thought before dismissing that thought for good.
There was no need for him to think too much. Rather, he should be fully focused on killing as many powerful opponents as possible. His Origin ability would help him achieve that, even if it might be a bit painful.
However, that was acceptable as long as it was possible for him to get his hands on a bunch of items he was looking for.
[Permanent Tier-3 Agility Increment Potion]
[Permanent Tier-3 Strength Increment Potion]
[Permanent Tier-3 Health Increment Potion]
[Permanent Tier-3 Stamina Increment Potion]
[Compressed Essence Vial!]
These five items were very interesting for Dilan, especially since the increment provided in stats were a massive 100 Units per potion. It was possible to drink three potions of each, and an infinite amount of the Compressed Essence Vials, which meant that he could reach the Peak of a Tier-3 existence just by staying on the Primary Ancient Battlefield!
That thought was quite interesting, but the potions were not cheap. After a full day of staying on the Primary Ancient Battlefield, Dilan didn’t even possess a quarter of the Ancient Points he required to purchase a single potion.
Of course, he didn’t focus on fighting and mostly talked with his friend to reminisce about the old times but it was still quite disappointing that his Ancient Points had gone so low.
“Alright, I should focus on work now…” Dilan reminded himself and he slapped his cheeks with enough force to make his ears ring. Afterward, he took a deep breath, unsheathed the Meteorite Blade and he headed to the huge skirmish that had commenced only a few kilometers away from his current spot.
He saw a bunch of human-like races he had never seen before fighting other races. Then there were monsters joining the fray as well. The monsters were trying to tear apart as many opponents as possible before their own life would be taken.
Amongst them, a bunch of monsters were a bit smarter than others. They used their wits to take a few lives before they retreated several hundred meters behind the most crowded area of the clash before preparing more attacks to reap more lives.
Their idea was to kill as many as possible while being in a secure position. This would inevitably reward them with more Ancient Points, which in turn would give them a better chance at collecting the points they required to advance their bloodline, evolve or achieve other miraculous feats.
Dilan watched the chaotic battle for some time before he decided to join them as well. Somehow his subconscious kept drifting back to Rex’s gaze every now and then which kept bothering him. Dilan didn’t like the thought of his friend having changed and it influenced his emotions drastically.
His powers leaked involuntarily and he began to fight more recklessly than before. It was not important for Dilan to deflect every single attack of his opponents because he would heal either way.
That thought was reassuring but it was certainly not something he should rely on too much. His Undying Origin ability had worked out against most opponents, but there were also ways to negate an enemy’s abilities.
This wa something Dilan had witnessed only once and he knew that he would end up dying miserably if he were to encounter such a situation while fighting as recklessly as he fought right now.
Unfortunately, even this realization was of no help to Dilan as of now. He knew that death wouldn’t actually mean that he would die on the Ancient Battlefields.
He would merely get expelled from the Ancient Battlefields for a month and that was it.
And that was more than enough reason for him to fight without any care about his own body!
