“Finally!!” Dilan shouted at the top of his lungs, only to collapse on Rory’s back a mere moment later.
He was breathing heavily, his Stamina had been used up completely, and he had not rested for a second in the last 30 days. His entire being was overwhelmed and he felt as if he could sleep for several weeks. That was how exhausted he was.
“I will be fine in a day or two…just enough to make sure that I can advance to the fourth Tier and increase my stats a bit before the fourth awakening!” Dilan tried to shout out loud as well, but his voice came out as a croak.
His body forced him into a long slumber, while Rory ended up collecting another batch of millions of corpses with the help of the Slaves and Vampires Dilan had employed as their…storage ring carriers…
Dilan wouldn’t waste his time spending hours collecting monster corpses if he had a bunch of Slaves and Vampires, who could do exactly that for him. It would take longer for him to collect all the corpses than to kill them. Thus, the others would spend their time collecting the corpses, sacrificing them at the nearby Temples, and transferring the Dungeon Points to Lara and Marie.
His sisters had become the accountants of the Undying Group because he wanted them to be respected by everyone, whether it was because Dilan was their doting brother, or because they were the key to managing the Undying Group’s entire finances.
Lara was in her eighth month of pregnancy and it was only a matter of weeks before her child would be born. The timing could end up extremely bad and clash with the Fourth Awakening but nobody was truly worried about that.
The Undying Group had united with the Mekaz Military Base and they had come up with more than 10 emergency plans in the adverse case to tackle the possibility of Dian’s death or disappearance. Dilan was the pillar of the Undying Group and a bunch of plans was created with him as the centerpiece, but he had also asked his people to create plans to survive even without him.
He couldn’t be there for everyone every single time. That was impossible and he wanted his people to understand that. Thus, the plans without him came into existence as well.
Two days passed after Dilan woke up from his deep slumber and found himself in the Sanctum. He rubbed his tired eyes and took a look at the black countdown that belonged to the Fourth Awakening.
“There are still 35 days left…maybe…nevermind, I don’t even know the content of the advancement mission…” Dilan mumbled to himself and he got up from the bed.
With a little over a month left, he was basically given the opportunity to make the impossible possible.
‘It looks like the Universe has finally decided to favor me!!’ Dilan thought in his mind, just to open the Log of the Ancient to access the Ancient Paths of Advancement.
Unfortunately, doing so soured his previously good mood almost immediately.
“Fuck this shit!”
[[<<Ancient Paths of Advancement (Fourth Tier)>>]
<<Racial Purgatory(Ordinary)>>
<<Planetary Conquest(Hard)>>
<<Milarn’s Union(Abyss)>>
<<Path of Preparation(Divine)>>]
Dilan’s expression turned the worst and he punched into the air, releasing a tremendous amount of mana that shot up at the ceiling. His room began to shake and the cracks spread all over the ceiling. But even if the ceiling were to collapse above him, Dilan had bigger problems to worry about than being buried under some rubble.
“Even the Ordinary Advancement Mission to the fourth Tier seems like utter bullshit. Just the names of the missions are more than enough to tell me that….” Dilan thought of pulling his hair out due to the growing frustration.
He was not able to contain himself anymore and fell back on the bed, where he remained for half an hour.
‘What am I going to do now?’ He wondered, pretty sure that each of the advancement missions would take quite a while to be completed.
A few more minutes passed before he found the energy to lift his hand and use the phone to call everyone on the emergency line at once.
Everyone rushed to the huge office, with Dilan being the last to arrive.
He was subjected to the stares of more than three dozen pairs of eyes but nobody dared to say anything as they could see Dilan’s bad mood.
There was no need for Dilan to say a single word as he shared his Ancient Paths of Advancement list with everyone else in the room.
“T-that…are your choices to advance to Tier-4??” Kathrine exclaimed, her eyes narrowing at the sight of the four advancement missions. Their names were self-explanatory but also quite hard to comprehend because there was no additional information.
The only mission with the most details was the Abyss difficulty advancement mission, however, that was not something to be happy about.
“Milarn’s Union would be quite difficult because it won’t be possible for Dilan to bring everyone under his reign, right?” Marie asked quietly. She was intimidated by the grave sight of all the charismatic and powerful Ascenders she had gotten to know in the last two months.
Even Dilan, the person everyone looked up to, her little, yet, powerful brother, was at a loss.
“Without constant supervision, it was not even possible to keep Camsun united. Most humans don’t like to be forced to do something. They rather do something of their own volition not realizing that something manipulates them secretly,” Williams merely said, not going further into detail.
Instead, it was Dilan, who disregarded the Abyss difficulty Mission as he revealed his honest thoughts about it, “Milarn’s Union would take way too long. Every single day strong monsters appear and they conquer other places. The same can be said about Temples and other races. New races and Temples appear on a daily basis all over Milarn. Controlling all the new races, and new temples, while maintaining a strong union of all humans on Milarn is basically impossible even if I were to be the strongest existence on Milarn right now.”
“That leaves us with <<Racial Purgatory(Ordinary)>>, and <<Planetary Conquest(Hard)>>” Xenia said, enlarging the two mission tags in front of everyone. It was displayed in the air in front of everyone to see. While reading through it, Kathrine suddenly asked, “What about the <<Path of Preparation(Divine)>>]?”
Most Ascenders looked over to Kathrine as she motioned her arms, squeezing the Divine Advancement Mission into the mix.
Kathrine was right by adding the Divine mission but most higher authorities thought of this as a very foolish move.
“If the Abyss Advancement mission is already this difficult and taking up way too long, what the hell will Dilan do with a Divine advancement mission? He should focus on the easiest missions and try to pick the one that takes up the shortest time!” Xenia declared, ignoring that Kathrine held a higher position in the Undying Group than herself.
Kathrine squinted her eyes at Xenia’s bluntness and she wanted to retort something, when her sister, Yvonne, intervened.
“Being a more difficult advancement mission doesn’t exactly mean that it will take up more time. The difficulty level itself will be very hard to pass, but the time Dilan requires to finish it might be lesser than the annihilation of an entire race, or the conquest of some unknown planet!”
Dilan nodded his head, but he couldn’t help and sigh heavily once again.
“Exactly…and that’s why I want to seek help picking the best mission for our future…after all, we’re all in on this…together!”
