Undying Warlord - Chapter 600 Devils And Angels
‘I found out that some planets would enlarge during their Fourth Awakening thanks to the Great Wise’s teachings…but a planet that enlarges manyfold is still rather uncommon…usually a planet enlarges a little bit, or by half…at most twice its former size…
There are no signs of the Great War of Blood either…Milarn healed everything…it’s almost as if there had never been a War with Gods involved, to begin with…’
Dilan had already been suspicious about the condition of the planet when he returned to Milarn. However, he didn’t expect that so many things had changed. The planet’s size had also been a little bit weird because the Shikan plains and the surrounding environment didn’t fit with what he had recalled before leaving for the City of Trials.
But all of that was something Dilan reasoned with the fact that he had been in the City of Trials for 10,000 years, and that 27 years had passed in Milarn.
His memory might have been at fault, and lots of things could have changed on Milarn…and that was exactly what happened. Milarn had changed a lot…maybe even more than Dilan.
It was truly shocking…and that was only bits of the time when the Fourth Awakening had just happened.
“There were several alliances consistent of various races and Gods, but the most well-known Alliances to the humans from Milarn had been the Devil Order and the Angel’s Haven Alliances.
Both had human races in their row, one with humans that possessed Demonic Powers and the others having been granted holy, light, and purification powers. The human races that were subordinate to these two alliances came from different places, but it was quite obvious that they often clashed with each other.
The Devil Order and the Angel’s Haven Alliances fought each other to the very end. Their fights caused the most destruction, but they also gave the most hope to us humans…after all, the Devils and Angels accepted humans in their rows…and the powers they granted turned ordinary humans into powerful warriors, clerics, dark mages, and much more… It was truly miraculous and many humans from Milarn chose to join their rows…how foolish they were…
After they accepted the deals of Devils or Angels, they were pulled into the devastating war that lasted for years…and they died…
In exchange for the powers they had been granted, their lives were sacrificed as if they were mere livestock. We hid wherever we could, as far from the battlefields as possible, only returning to the surface when we were in need of food, or other necessities, or to scout the surrounding area to make sure that we were safe.
It was almost impossible for us to stay unnoticed forever because we were too many and too noisy. There was no way that we could have run away from every battle…but how could we have expected that we would be pulled into the worst possible fight we could have encountered? When the Lesser Gods of the Devils, Angels, and various other races clashed in Camsun, deciding who would become the temporary reign of the smallest of Milarn’s continents, we were in the middle of everything…even if we were underground…
It was the worst…I’ve never felt so much fear and desperation…while I was not able to do anything…nothing at all…Nobody could do anything except shivering in fright and trying to cover the weakest and youngest with our own bodies from the falling rubble and the collapsing tunnels where we had been hiding at that time.
And then there were the attacks that hit the ground…piercing deep into the ground where they reached us…several kilometers underground…”
Marie quieted down once again. She began to tremble as she recalled the terror they had faced a little bit more than 20 years ago.
Her breathing became rougher and Marie required a few minutes of silence before she got back to her senses. She looked apologetic at Dilan, who patted her hand lightly while inserting nature-attributed mana slowly inside her.
The attributed mana eased her tension and it allowed her to cry a little bit, while still feeling apologetic.
“If it’s too rough for you, just tell me the shortened version…or I will just skip the history of the last 27 years. I don’t want you guys to feel uncomfortable just because I am curious about what you guys went through…” Dilan spoke calmly. At the same time, he was trying his best to calm his oldest sister, which was certainly not easy.
‘I can just ask others about the past. Rory won’t be as traumatized as my sisters…’ He thought, feeling stupid for having asked his sisters about the past.
“No…I’m fine…it’s just that the Battle of the Gods was the worst…afterward, it was not that bad…though it was not great either…maybe it was just as bad…I don’t know anymore…” Marie wanted to tell Dilan about the time after he left, but her determination wavered with every piece of memory that resurfaced in her mind.
She swallowed her saliva heavily and sighed deeply before she looked at Dilan with a weak smile.
“It was not as bad as your time with father…so I should, at least, be able to tell you about it, don’t you think?”
Dilan didn’t answer Marie’s question and he continued to insert nature-attributed mana inside her. It helped her, but just a little bit…a tiny little bit…
“Where was I? The Battle of Gods, right…I will just skip the three weeks that felt like we had already died and been thrown into hell, and move over to the period after the Great War of Blood…The first factions tried to reinforce the territory they claimed. This seemed to work rather well in the beginning.
Using the billions of corpses that littered the ground, and the waters, sacrifices were made to the Lesser Gods, strengthening their Divinities.
Through this, the winning alliances became stronger while the losing side turned into nourishment for the strong…just like it had always been.
But it was at this point when more and more Gods made their way to Milarn and the true meaning of death and destruction followed.
