Chapter 10: Survival! Record of Insects, The Meteorite That Never Came!
The text in front of Su Bai flickered, and ten talents appeared in sequence.
He glanced over them.
Unfortunately, the guaranteed orange talent still hadn’t shown up.
Besides Cthulhu, there was another purple talent.
Considering that last time he took an extreme path, Su Bai wanted to change his approach this time.
“Can the meteor crisis at the end of the Third Epoch be avoided? What challenges will follow?”
Soon, he finished selecting three talents. This time, he didn’t choose Cthulhu.
Instead, he picked three entirely new talents:
[Stealth Survival (Purple): With this talent, creatures will prioritize survival, avoiding conflict and reckless behavior. Evolution will follow this direction.] [Reproduction Frenzy (Blue): Promotes rapid reproduction, greatly increasing the number of creatures.] [Self-Entertainment (Blue): Your people will not fear loneliness or the passage of time. Mental +10, Happiness +10.]**
This simulation had a clear goal.
One word: “Survive!”
[Selection complete. Do you wish to load cards or unique creatures?]
- D-Class Climate Card(Costs 1 Creation Point)
- S-Class Apocalypse Disaster Card(Costs 100 Creation Points)
- Supernatural Creature: King of Tentacle Monsters(Costs 10 Creation Points)Su Bai thought for a moment and decided to load only the Climate Card.
He didn’t touch the other two.
[Ding, please note: Due to the expanded area, this simulation will cost 200 Creation Points.]
Su Bai felt a bit of heartache, but he knew it was worth it.
Starting with ten times the land area—wouldn’t that mean ten times more creatures?
“Begin simulation!”
[Embarking on the journey of creation—]
[Heaven and Earth open, God Su Bai awakens, and the Tianyuan Realm is born.]
[Early First Epoch: You said, ‘Let there be rain,’ and so it rained. The rain brought life to the oceans.]
[The Climate Card activates, and the Reproduction Frenzy talent takes effect.]
[Mid First Epoch: In the ocean, primordial organisms like Mother Bacteria and Clover appeared. They enjoyed movement, and soon the seas became lively.]
[As more creatures appeared, the Tianyuan Realm continued to grow…]
[Late First Epoch: A species called the Sea Spider fully embraced the Stealth Survival talent. To avoid predators, they evolved to be nearly useless—barely any meat on them.]
[On the grand stage of the ocean, other dominant species like the Anomalocaris and the Devouring Fish emerged, cautiously developing while occasionally clashing.]
[Early Second Epoch: Seed plants and mosses were the first to conquer the land, thriving on it. The land became lush, teeming with vitality. A relative of the Sea Spider, evolving into an amphibious species, also began to colonize the land.]
[This offshoot, the Bamboo Worm Spider, initially dominated coastal areas, reproducing and thriving.]
[The Sea Spiders that remained in the ocean followed a different evolutionary path. The Self-Entertainment talent activated—Sea Spiders’ Happiness +10.]
“It’s great to have more land; so many creatures are evolving already,” Su Bai observed, eager to see what results the different evolutionary paths would yield.
[Mid Second Epoch: Sea creatures one by one began to land. Finally, the land became the main stage. Mosses evolved into ferns, enhancing their ability to absorb sunlight and accelerate growth. The Tianyuan Realm evolved even faster.]
[The Stealth Survival talent took effect! Various arthropods and vertebrates competed cautiously.]
[Late Second Epoch: As ferns proliferated, the Tianyuan Realm expanded to 15 kilometers, and oxygen levels increased, producing faint traces of spiritual energy.]
So far, the Tianyuan Realm hadn’t reached the peak of the last simulation.
It was probably because of the talent. The creatures were extra cautious in their competition.
It took an entire epoch for a final king to emerge!
[Late Third Epoch: You observed that the Tianyuan Realm had grown to 19 kilometers. Meanwhile, on land, the Bamboo Worm Spider continued evolving, growing wings and hard armor.]
[This insect, now known as the Forked Horned Beetle, eventually became the epoch’s dominant species, ruling the world!]
[The losers in the competition went extinct, with a small number regressing and returning to the ocean.]
[Another evolutionary path saw the Sea Spiders, after an epoch of dormancy, remain largely unchanged, merely filling some ecological niches in the ocean.]
[The three talents continued to operate, and the Sea Spider population exceeded one million, becoming the rulers of the ocean. Happiness +10, Joy +10.]
“The big event is coming.”
Everything was steady so far; now it was just a matter of when the meteor would arrive.
[Late Third Epoch: Despite your anxious waiting, the universe showed no signs of disturbance. No mechanical gods descended.]
[The Forked Horned Beetles continued to evolve, and their strongest leader was known as the Rhinoceros Beetle. As oxygen and spiritual energy increased, their strength, speed, and defense became perfect.]
[Early Fourth Epoch: Under the Rhinoceros Beetle’s leadership, their dominance was further solidified, and even internal evolutionary splits began within their population.]
[The vast majority of them grew larger and harder, with the Rhinoceros Beetle believing that bigger and tougher was stronger! As they grew, other insects filled the smaller ecological niches.]
[Mid Fourth Epoch: Led by the Rhinoceros Beetle, the Tianyuan Realm entered a new epoch, recorded as the Age of Insects.]
[Reward: Creation Points +100]
[Late Fourth Epoch: Insects covered the land, sea, and sky, gradually reaching their peak.]
[The Sea Spiders continued to live cautiously in the ocean, not considering landing or further evolution.] …
Things became repetitive. The invincible insects fell into internal conflict.
In their struggle for food, they began to destroy their environment and consume plants.
Su Bai watched as time passed unnoticed, reaching the Sixth Epoch.
This was a time he had never reached before!
“Strange, it’s been so long. Even if the meteor was delayed, it should’ve arrived by now.”
Su Bai couldn’t figure it out.
Something was off!
