Unlocking Your Potential - Chapter 22 Concluding Word

God gave man the amazing power to choose, don’t use it wrongly. Animals don’t choose how they eat their food. You won’t see the day that a lion will say it wants to eat fried meat rather than bloody flesh. It’s a blessing to be able to choose. The most fundamental thing taken away from a prisoner is the power of choice, freedom to pick from alternatives. Where you are today is the issue of your choice.

Why must you make good choices? You make choice first and the choice you make now makes you. Choice controls choosers. Once you choose to be an alcoholic, the choice starts to control you.

Many years ago, on the last day of the year, I saw a drunken elderly man, staggering to a banana tree and knocking the tree saying, “Elizabeth, open the door for me. If you don’t, I will fight you”. This happened because he had lost control. The choice he made to become a drinker was now controlling him. Your choice does not leave you the same.

Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, we will not walk therein. Jeremiah 6:16

Adams choice put man in bondage today. Samson made a wrong choice in Delilah and a great destiny was wasted. A.A. Allen was a highly anointed man of God. Cripples rise up when he preaches but as a child, his parents were alcoholics and had introduced him to drinking. He was born again and serving God but the addiction to alcohol ruined him. When his body was found dead in a hotel room, it was discovered that he had drunk himself to death. Your choices don’t leave you the same.

Don’t choose bitterness. Don’t choose envy. Don’t raise violent homes, don’t beat your wife. A woman wrote a book about what God showed her about hell. She asked about her parents. She said she knew they were not saved but they were good people and Jesus said to her “I am sorry my daughter but there is nothing I can do for people who do not know me.” Once a person gets to hell; no help again.

She also said that she noticed a multitude wearing sand coloured robes roaming aimlessly in the vicinity of hell. Their heads were hanging low and they looked very dejected and hopeless. She asked Jesus why they were doing that and who they are. Jesus said to her, “They are disobedient Christians and they will stay in the barren and lifeless place forever. The only ones who will enter my kingdom are the pure in heart, my obedient children.”

Make a wise choice to live for the Lord and your potential will manifest. Shalom.
