Unlocking Your Potential - Chapter 8 Key 7
Vision is having your eyes into your future; it is the drive that gives you the sense of compulsion. Vision is what gives you fulfillment; bringing you dividends and not liability. A man with no vision will have different motivation. Vision helps you to have a sense of satisfaction; it is your greatest dream.
Your vision determines where you are going; it brings you to your purpose. Vision is the unique call of God upon your life; it helps you to live in your future before you get there. You will not struggle once your vision is realised.
for visiting.
God will give you a dream when you start to think deeply; when your thinking is informed. Don’t just read the Bible like a literature book; study it carefully and meditate on what you read. We often refer to Solomon as the richest man in the Bible but we don’t assess and study how he was wealthy. How did Solomon become the richest man? It was because he had great ideas.
The Bible records it that silver was like stone when Solomon ruled as a king. Solomon had horses and he traded; he bought horses from Egypt to sell them to other nations. Solomon, by divine idea, saw the need for horses in certain countries and he sold the much-needed horses to them… this was how King Solomon made himself rich.
Sadly, many have no plan for the future; they have eaten their tomorrow now. No wonder, just to prove that they have arrived, they buy the biggest cars in the town immediately they get to power; cars they will not be able to maintain as soon as they leave the public office. Buying a car is good; but it is sheer folly that makes someone acquire what he cannot maintain. A car is not an asset; it is a necessary liability. Think deeply and do all you can to avoid accumulating liabilities; if it can be avoided.
The cause of stress for many is trying to be who they are not. It is a good thing to live a disciplined life but it is a pity many do not know the difference between discipline and punishment. Discipline and punishment are not the same. Discipline may be tough but it is to prepare you for a future; it is to train you.
Punishment is for someone who has committed an offence. Everything that happened to Joseph was not punishment; they were forms of training so that he would not misbehave when he gets to where God has planned for him as a leader. No wonder he didn’t attempt to be vindictive when his brothers came to Egypt. Joseph saw all his experiences as divine training. Hear him:
Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.
Gen 45:5
You must have cooperated with God before you can have whatever you have today.
Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
Amos 3:3
Cooperate with God for your dreams to be realised.
…Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
Habakkuk 2:2-3
I pray your vision will speak in Jesus name (Amen). Whatever God has planned for you will manifest in Jesus name. Those who had made a mockery of you in times past will laugh with you in Jesus name (Amen).
Humble yourself for God to lift you. Life is in phases; live your life for God and God will be glorified in your life. God can’t use you if you are proud; lest you take credit for what God does.
REFLECTION
