Unlucky?Player - Chapter 192
It was a good offer. Too good if he was being honest. But Night found that it would be worth it if someone who was called the best assassin joined their guild. JetSky was given the option to join the guild at any point he wanted. The invitation wouldn’t expire unless he joined another guild, but who in their right mind would join some other guild and not the best one, without any good reason.
“T-thank you….I cannot begin to tell you how honored I am….” JetSky replied with slightly rosy cheeks. Being personally scouted by the official best player in the game is something most players crave. If not for the fact that he is already famous, then this event would’ve definitely made him so.
“Don’t worry about it. Now then, if that’s done. I have a few trials to complete so I guess I’ll see you around. Later,” Night waved to JetSky as he put Noctis onto his head again. It seemed that the only time he could move the creature of chaos around was when the little one wanted it or felt like it.
“Y-ye-ss…” JetSky said as he slightly bowed. He couldn’t help but perform such a respectful gesture. The Night that he faced right now was much more fearsome than the one he did so previously. It didn’t have anything to do with how strong he had gotten or anything but the look Night had changed. So much so that JetSky could feel the heat of the fire burning inside him.
He noticed that the man who escorted him all the way inside had been very focused on the spar. Night casually approached the man who was slightly shocked, but Sketch looked at Night carefully and imagined a future where Night had somehow finished the Phantom Trials.
‘The Phantom Trials and the ability to use weapon aura…scary….’
It wasn’t known what the reward or rewards for completing the Phantom trials would be. But according to the grand elders, the user who manages to complete every trial would be capable of going completely unnoticeable, and this was only one of the many rewards. The image of Night standing there with one hand in his pocket while the other held some kind of pitch-black flames that had a white outline. However, at the same time, his entire body remained completely dark, only one of his purple eyes and the one hand could be properly seen.
“Urgh…..” Sketch felt shivers pass down his spine as the image of someone gazing into his very core was something he couldn’t bear. It was weird. Sketch was an assassin who faced multiple adversities and trained nearly all his life, it was by no means easy, almost every mission he faced in the earlier days of his career he would nearly cross paths with the grim reaper. However, the single of one individual holding, not one but two powers that can make normal citizens into warriors capable of overthrowing Kingdoms, was absurd, not to mention the fact that this individual was under the age of 25. “I assume you want to shoot your own shot?”
“Yes,” Night smiled as he looked at Sketch. “Please take me to the trials, regardless of whether I die or not, allow me to give it a go,”
“Alright. Do you want to talk to one of the Grand Elders? Or do you just wish to go to the Phantom Trials?”
“Hmmmm,” with the spar and everything that had happened since Sketch had left Night, the latter had completely forgotten about the existence of a group of beings called the grand elders. According to Sketch the best people to talk to regarding the trials would be them. “Alright, please take me to them then,”
Without saying anything else, Sketch gestured for Night to follow him. After about two minutes of walking and climbing up of stairs, the small group finally arrived outside of what seemed like a small hut. It was awkwardly placed if compared to the rest of the environment, but looking at the hut alone, on a hill, made it seem cinematic.
“Great Senior. It is I, Sketch. I’ve brought along an interesting young man, who wishes to take part in the Phantom Trials…..”
After a few seconds, an eerie voice came out from the inside. Sketch couldn’t help but gulp, it isn’t every day that he visits the Grand elders, however, every time he does, he makes sure to show them great respect, mainly out of fear.
“Come in~” an eerie voice said. It didn’t sound old or worn out, but it did sound mystical and full of mystery. Night was so confused, he couldn’t tell whether it belonged to a girl or a boy. Just before they entered the room, he tried using his Umbrakinesis to try and scan the building in front of him. However, what surprised him the most, was the fact that there was absolutely no one on the inside. It was empty, completely so.
“Uhm????” Night let out a small groan to himself, as he opened his eyes and decided to follow Sketch into the building.
“The young one thinks he can outsmart me? Kukuku and he brings a Guardian by his side? Interesting. Hoh? There’s even a creature I can’t recognize? Truly fabulous!” the voice cackled through the cloth that covered the individual’s face. The Grand elder was dressed in all black with a few purple-gold lines running around the outfit. The mask had a bright red star that looked to be messily painted on.
“Huh???! A Guardian???” Sketch was more curious about where the Guardian the Grand elder spoke about was. It was only then, did his eyes fall upon the young boy who displayed undying loyalty towards Night. “Oh…..”
“Kukuku, it seems that you’re growing old little Sketch,” the grand elder snickered while turning towards Night, “I am known as Taka. Now then, let me have a good look at you,” Taka didn’t bother waiting for the dark prince’s approval and simply appeared in front of Night. “So you’ve mastered the weapon aura, and at such a young age, excellent! You give off a vague feeling…..I cannot quite say, but it’s sinister….hmmmm…..beautiful reflexes and movements and unmatched battle IQ, but most of all, you’re strength lies in your unpredictability. I see….”
(A/N: I have good news lads! I have a break coming up in a few days and I’m going to use that opportunity to write up a lot of chapters, so that I can jump back onto the normal schedule and not continue with this pathetic excuse of an upload schedule.)
