Unrivaled Doctor’s: Journey With The Phoenix - Chapter 27
“Mm Smells nice.”
“Oh, our little hungry princess woke up?”
Feng Hanyan blurrily opened her eyes after the aromatic smell of food woke up her. She slowly sat up and saw Liuyun busily cooking up a pot of hot soup, she was completely awestruck by his cooking skills.
The knife he held seemed to be dancing and elegant ballade while the chopped up vegetables were all equal in sizes, not even a single centimeter off. The spices and ingredients were added into the pot gently as is Liuyun was caressing a baby’s head.
“Wow Liuyun, where did you learn to cook so well?”
Liuyun paused his cooking and was at a loss for words, how can he tell her that he learned this all from his past life in order to make Li Yuyuan’s life better. He threw the remaining ingredients into the pot, closed the lid, and turned around to look at Feng Hanyan with a pain in his eyes.
Liuyun’s sorrowful made Feng Hanyan’s heart tightened harder and a suffocating feeling attacked her. It pounds harder and harder, it grew heavier and heavier with each beat. It almost feels like the weight of the world is hanging onto her little heart, which is on the verge of tearing down
‘Why are you making such a sorrowful expression?…’
Was what she wanted to ask him at the time, but the words were stuck in her throat and she couldn’t release it out. ‘Why can’t I ask him?’. Feng Hanyan’s mind was in distress, she was feeling light-headed and wanted so bad to fall into the dream world again.
“Yan’er?! What’s wrong?!”
“Eh?”
*drip* *drip* *drip*
Feng Hanyan did not notice that her tears were dripping off from her face, her porcelain-like face was completely ruined by the lines of tears on her face. Liuyun couldn’t bear to see her crying so he walked up to her and gently wiped her tears off for her.
“I’m sorry, I will explain it to you.”
“Eh?”
A crestfallen smile showed on the face of Liuyun as he began to talk about the past. Sitting down beside her, he leaned her head towards his.
“Back before I met you, I took care of a girl Her name was Li Yuyan.”
“…”
“We grew up together in a deserted place and never left each other’s side. Every day we had to worry about our lives. But one day, an incident happened.”
He remembered that time as if it was just yesterday, each of his words was heavy and it contained some sadness within them.
“Yuyuan fell ill and at that time there was no cure for it. I did everything I could to save her, I endured torture and tormenting days all just to save her life. I was told that if I did as they said, she will be saved. I even took up cooking and experimented with many different hobbies All to entertain her when she was free.”
At this point, Liuyun started to laugh as if to mock himself.
“I failed… I failed to save her, but I still never gave up on developing the medicine, hahaha! In the end, I accidentally made the cure! 4 days after she died! I fucking managed to find the cure!”
“Why Why?! Why did god have to torture me so much! I just wanted her to be safe and alive! Why did he allow me to craft the thing I wanted to badly after she died?! I hate god! God never helped me out when I needed him”
“Why”
“Liuyun… You did your best, you managed to do something that no one ever managed to do in history.”
“But I still failed! I still failed her! After my promise”
Liuyun was at his breaking point already, he could no longer contain in his tears and cried out loudly. Feng Hanyan was in pain as well, seeing her loved one breakdown mentally like this. She opened up her arms widely to him and hugged him tightly, seemingly afraid that this figure will shatter into pieces if she was not there to support him.
This continued on for over an hour and Feng Hanyan didn’t speak at all afterward. She just let Liuyun cry in her arms, like a gentle mother comforting her crying child.
Liuyun stopped crying and wiped his tears off before standing up to grab the pot of soup.
“Sorry, it was unsightly of me. Let’s eat, after all the crying I’m hungry!”
“Un.”
He helped Feng Hanyan scoop a blow of soup and ingredients, took one for himself as well and slowly ate with her.
“Liuyun.”
“What’s wrong? Is it too hot?”
“I will always be here for you.”
“…Thank you. I love you Yan’er.”
The night ended like that after their meal and they both ended up sleeping. When they remembered this day in the future, they would laugh at this and be reminded of their youths.
