Untamed: The Alpha - Chapter 196
Zuri stood between Chaos and Nikolai, putting herself at risk if Chaos decided to go berserk and claimed Nikolai’s soul.
She had witnessed it first hand how Chaos claimed back his shattered soul and she didn’t want to watch he did it to Nikolai.
For now, there were standing in the parking lot, beside the building, as they went out of the heavy music and crazy dancing from the side door.
“Who is he?” Nikolai asked in low voice. He thought there would be a warm greeting, while they reminisce memories from the past. There would be a lot of things to talk about, but this tension and strain atmosphere, was the last thing that he could expect.
“Go back home, Nikolai,” Zuri said sternly. Her eyes were on Chaos’s dark one. Her body bent forward slightly, as if she was at the ready for any confrontation.
Chaos couldn’t see it, but he could sense her anger and her frustration. Her will to fight him if he dared to lay a finger on this young man.
Zuri knew that there was no chance for her to be able to overpower Chaos, but she stood her ground anyway, put Nikolai behind her back, while the young man looked at both of them with confusion.
“Why?” Nikolai leaned forward, whispered to Zuri’s ear, but his warm breath that brushed against her neck made the girl growled maliciously. “What happened?” he was in the dark, didn’t know what he got himself into.
However, it didn’t matter, because in the next second, his back had been slammed to the wall behind him, as he lost his footing when the dark eyes man lifted him from the ground, wrapping his fingers around his neck.
Chaos was already strangled Nikolai within a second.
“Stop it, Chaos,” Zuri said through her gritted teeth, her hazel eyes stared at Nikolai and Chaos back an forth.
Chaos intentionally didn’t kill Nikolai right away. He put Nikolai in such position and then looked at Zuri with his dark eyes. “Is he important for you?”
The question came out very rigid, as if he just asked about something that pained him, as if he was supressing his emotions right now.
Zuri seethed, she snarled at him when she spoke. “I will never forgive you if you kill him.” Her voice filled with malice.
Nikolai gasped for air, he was trying so hard to free himself from his clutch, but this man didn’t budge at all. He didn’t even flinch when Nikolai stabbed his nails to his flesh.
Chaos had been stabbed by something worse after all.
“Why do you think I need your forgiveness?” Finally Chaos spoke, his expression was devoid from any emotions and seeing that, deranged Nikolai’s mind.
The only thing that he could think of right now was his little sister. Who Vanesha would live with if he died. He didn’t think he would survive this, though Zuri was trying to go against this man’s intention to kill him.
Just who the hell is he?!
He was not a shifter, since Nikolai never heard a shifter could move in a blink of an eyes like he did, neither the vampire.
“You need me to find all the shattered souls.” Zuri hated it when she was put in this situation, when she was powerless and was forced to do something that she didn’t want to.
Eight years of living under Alpha Xerxes’s tyran was enough for her to taste how it felt like when you were overpowered.
“I found it.” Chaos tightened his clutch around Nikolai’s neck, more pressure and he would die with broken neck.
“Let him go, Chaos.” The more Chaos was trying to strangle Nikolai, as he tightened his grip on his neck, the darker Zuri’s voice became. “I know you need me.”
However, Chaos simply didn’t listen to her, he pressed Nikolai’s neck harder and his limbs dropped, he stayed still, no longer giving any fight against Chaos, while there was nothing change on his expression.
“FUCK YOU, CHAOS!” Zuri roared at him. Her anger got the better of her. She swore that she wouldn’t care even when someone was dying in front of her. People died every day, there was nothing you can do about it.
Zuri had promised that she wouldn’t let her emotions controlled her.
However, to see someone that you knew died because of you, right before your eyes, was completely different thing. Her heart was not as callous as she thought, it still bled and in pain when she lost someone close to her.
Probably the life that she was living was still not enough for her to learn that being able to numb your feeling was a blessing.
Before her eyes, Zuri watched how Chaos threw Nikolai across the parking lot, as his body skidded on the asphalt, while he glared at her.
“I am not appriacate your choice of words, Blue.” Same like how he did before, in a blink of an eye, Chaos was already stood in front of Blue, which made her took a step back because of the proximity between them.
“I am not Blue, my name is Zuri.” Zuri emphasized every word that she said, she met his sightless eyes, but oddly enough, she could see his emotions. Was that anger? Confusion? There was no way she was able to know. It could be her hallucination as well. “I am not the child that you know. I am stronger than that poor little girl that you pitied.”
It didn’t sound like she was trying to provoke Chaos, but it indeed sounded like an affirmation for herself.
However, Chaos smirked to sense her emotions. “You are still that pitiful little girl that I know.”
Zuri had been warned by Hades about how Chaos’s personality could be no the same like she remembered and now she could see it herself.
“You are and you will always be like that.”
