Vain - Chapter 34 Revelation
‘The King, whom had long fear the power of his own Duke was merciless in his plan.’
She skipped a few more lines, to another bolded section of the page.
‘With no villain, no mark of disgrace holding the Lovell back. Another tragedy must be granted.’
This…
Aileene hands shook at the knowledge that overtook her mind. As her body slumped over, dropping the book in front of her. She leaned against the nightstand behind her, her eyes watered, but she didn’t want to cry.
She couldn’t.
How could she have been so blind?
What so-called perfect anti-virus system?
What so-called final solution?
Aileene couldn’t even seem to understand the plot of the world that revolves around her. She was a victim to the force of something that she subconsciously knew, but never realized was important. The royal family had long implemented their plans, from the Rowan Clan to lesser nobles. The event from three years ago that had destroyed Dmitri’s family was not unprecedented. Even before then, many noble families under the control of the three Dukedoms had fallen. And the faction that gained the most power in this situation was, of course, the Crown.
She had thought that they were all at peace, seeing how close her parents were to the King and Queen. She couldn’t helped but be soothed into the complacent belief that everything was going to be fine. The battle she must face was not one of political intrigue, it was a petty childish war for love. Where she could at least come out of it with the carefree thought that her family would be safe.
But how far from the truth that was?
Her carefree childhood was spent in the comfort of her parents, who had shielded her from the cruel world. Aileene had thought that she was mature, that she wasn’t a naive child. She was programmed to overcome her obstacles and succeed in her mission.
But what of her mission?
At this point none of it mattered, she could no longer care for a meaningless heroine or a useless villainess.
She…
This world wasn’t real.
This was all just a game.
Just worthless codes.
Her parents, the Crown, every single being in this world could not even be compared to a fingernail of a real human.
They were all imperfect code, in a merciless system.
Aileene needed to destroy this imperfect code…
…and restart it all.
