Veiled Love - Chapter 11 He Was Having A Heart Attack

Soo Jin chuckled before saying ” Eunuch Choi, you keep referring to me as ‘your highness’. I am not married to the crown prince yet. Please just call me Young Miss Han, for me that’s more comfortable.”

“Okay Young Miss Han, I will do as you say.” said Eunuch Choi a little bit shocked by her humbleness.

Once settled in, Soo Jin was informed that dinner will be served to her. While the maids served the food, Soo Jin’s wet nurse Mama Chun came into the day room with the Soo Jin’s two personal maids; Jin Ae and Yoo Jung.

When everything was laid and ready, Mama Chun dismissed the palace maids. As Soo Jin was going to pick her chopsticks, Mama Chun’s hand stopped her.

“Yoo Jung, do the tests.” commanded Mama Chun.

“What tests?” asked Soo Jin confused.

“Young Miss, we are testing for poison.” said Jin Ae.

“Why?” questioned Soo Jin.

“It is the general’s orders. He said we should not take things in the palace lightly. We should be alert.” answered Mama Chun.

“Okay. Go ahead.” said Soo Jin, she knew her father knew best.

Yoo Jung took out a silver needle and tested all the foods on the table. There was no poison detected, so Soo Jin started to eat.

After she had finished eating, she got ready for bed. As she was not used to sleeping in foreign place, she had asked Mama Chun to sleep with her. Surprisingly, she slept like a baby with no nightmares or dreams.

The three days in the palace passed by fast as Soo Jin was super busy. She spent the first day having her Wonsam (bridal clothing) measured and made. The rest of the two days, she spent learning about the inner courts ruling and palace etiquettes.

Finally the wedding day was here. All the official and high ranked people were coming through the palace gates one by one.

The men were dressed in their occasional official outfit and the women were dressed in the latest hanboks. Everyone was in a joyous mood. The capital was in celebration as it was a national holiday.

Soo Jin was dressed and ready in her Wonsam, she was helped by Mama Chun and her two personal maids. She sat in her room nervous, she was not wearing her veil so she was taking deep breaths.

“Young Miss, I don’t think you need any make up. We will leave your face as it is.” said Mama Chun smiling. Soo Jin was like her own flesh and blood. The whole Han family treated her like blood relative, seeing her baby getting married today bought joyful and sorrowful tears to her eyes.

“Mama Chun, you better not cry. You are going to set me off.” Said Soo Jin feeling emotional.

The group of women were in their emotion, they did not notice Eunuch Choi had walked in. The Eunuch was in shock that he stood frozen, he never expected to walk in and see the crown princess without her veil. Beautiful was not the correct word to describe this girl, celestial was a better term. Her beauty was outstanding, everything was perfectly proportioned.

Sensing that they were no longer alone in the room, Soo Jin turned slowly and faced the intruder. As eunuch Choi could now see her full face and not her side profile, he felt like he was having a heart attack.
