Veiled Love - Chapter 19 You Are What You Ea
His strong masculine scent mixed with a hint of mint and roses invaded Soo Jin’s senses. He held her tight as he slowly inched closer to her ear and whispered;
“Keep your mouth closed or I will make you regret it.”
Catching his threat, it made Soo Jin want to rebel. So, she continued to recite “didn’t either. I ask you to stay out of my way and I will stay out of yours.”
She slowly whispered back, “remember if you want someone to do YOU a favour, you need to be nice to them not threaten them my CROWN PRINCE. So now I suggest you be nice and get your hands off me.”
“”
Yong- Sun grip on Soo Jin became tighter, he could not believe that a woman was talking back to him. He was the GREAT MERCILESS CROWN PRINCE. If people found out he would become the laughing stock of the nation.
He looked down at the woman he had cradled in his arms, he wanted to snap her neck in half. Feeling his father’s eyes on him, he slowly loosened his grip and said he low voice;
“Please do not be reckless. Forget what I said to you last night.” He knew threats did not work on this fox. Pretending to be nice should suffice for now.
Hearing the crown prince being polite, Soo Jin slowly moved away from his killing embrace and sat up straight. She plastered blinding smile on her face as she slowly looked towards the king.
The king was smiling ear to ear, he was enjoying seeing his son in such a playful mood and finally being the young man, he was meant to be.
“Let’s eat children, this old man cannot take the amount of display of affection.” Said the king.
Soo Jin looked at the king with a surprised expression and looked down blushing. However, the crown prince ignored his father and started to eat.
Soo Jin wanted to eat the roasted beef, but it was far away from her; she didn’t want to seem like a glutton.
Every time she picked a different dish that was close to her she would look at the roasted beef. Yong-Sun noticed that she has been eyeing the sliced roasted beef, so he stretched his arm out and picked the dish up. Thinking that the Yong-Sun was bringing the dish closer to her, Soo Jin’s eyes lit up like a little kitten.
Seeing Soo Jin’s reaction, Yong-Sun had a sinister smile forming on his face and he put the dish close to him and started eating it.
Soo Jin’s face fell as she realised that this man was selfish. The light in her eyes blew out as she started to pout involuntarily.
The king who felt like he was third wheeling on this young couple couldn’t help but stifle his laughter. He continued sitting there as he observed this cute love blossoming.
Close to the meal time ending and seeing that there was about 2 pieces of meat left on the plate, Yong- Sun took the dish and placed next to Soo Jin.
Soo Jin looked at him still pouting and heard him say:
“Be a good wife and help your husband finish his leftovers.”
Glaring at him, Soo Jin replied back with food still in her mouth, “Sorry I don’t eat beef as there’s saying in the far north; you ARE what you eat.”
“.”
Did she just call me a COW? A COW? Thought Yong-Sun as he choked on his drink.
The king could no longer hold it back and laughed out loud.
Seeing his father enjoying his misery, the crown prince stood up and stormed out.
“What happened? Did I say something wrong?” said Soo Jin feigning innocence.
The king looked at the girl in front of him then the retreating back of his son and couldn’t control his laughter.
Saying the reaction of the king, Soo Jin couldn’t help but join in. After laughing for what felt like a lifetime, the king noticed the girl in front of him was now eating the beef she had refused earlier.
Sensing the king looking at her, she quickly finished the 2 pieces of beef and shyly said with a stuffed mouth ” I needed to know how it tasted because I cannot eat beef in front of him again.”
What Soo Jin said set the king off again and his laughter was no longer reserved. He was howling. He could not believe that the great general’s daughter was this cheeky, unreserved girl.
All of the maidservants and eunuchs outside the hall could not believe their great ruler was outwardly expressing himself for the first time.
After her meal with the king, Soo Jin went back to her quarters and read a few books. Her day went by quiet quickly. Night came, and she slept like a baby.
