Veiled Love - Chapter 3 I Will Marry The Crown Prince
” Mother stop it!! You are scaring Soo Jin. Let’s all calm down and think this through thoroughly, we cannot lie to king. If we do, its like asking for a death penalty, just like it is refusing this marriage. Most importantly we have ask Soo Jin’s thoughts on this.” Han So spoke as he turned his attention to Soo Jin.
Soo Jin’s face had turned pale, she opened her mouth to speak but no words came. Clearing her throat, she attempted to speak again; opening and closing her mouth like a fish out of water.
“It’s okay baby, everything is going to be okay.” her father scooted closer to her and patted her hand lovingly.
“There’s a ship leaving for Ming tonight, I say we all leave together” Seung who has been silent the whole time suddenly chimed in.
Everyone looked at him surprised, confusion was apparent on their faces. They all knew if they ran away, they would be labelled traitors and if they agreed, their precious flower would experience a harsh life.
The room became silent again apart from the quiet sobbing of Soo Jin’s mother – madam Han.
” I will do it! I will marry the crown prince.” Soon Jin quietly said with her eyes closed.
“I am not weak. I will not allow anyone to bully me, and I will hide my skills just like father taught me. You don’t have to worry about me, remember I have you guys guiding me.” Soo Jin continued and she raised her head and plastered a smile on her face.
Soo Jin knew that if she didn’t marry the crown prince, her family would be in danger. She couldn’t be selfish and just look out for herself, to her; family came first. The more she thought of it the more fearful she became.
“Soo Jin’a, father understands you don’t have force yourself to accept this. Father will go and ask Your Majesty for forgiveness. I am sure the king will understand.” The great general spoke up as he noticed his youngest face was becoming pale again.
“No! No! Father, it’s okay. Soo Jin will marry the crown prince. You always call me your princess and I finally get to be a real princess. Isn’t that amazing?” Soo Jin finally said, hardening herself up. She loved being with her family but she did not want to be the cause of their death.
Soo Jin, who no- one outside of the Han household has laid an eye on, had made the decision to marry the crown prince who she never met or seen.
“Soo Jin. My baby.” Her mother called for her as tears fell like raindrops.
“Mother, it’s okay. I have made the decision to marry the crown prince.” Soo Jin whispered, with a forced smile. She slowly took her veiled out of her Hanbok sleeve and put it around her face.
“Mother, father and oraboni, I have martial arts session with Kang Ho. I will see you in about 1 hours’ time.” Said Soo Jin as she slowly stood up and exited the meeting hall.
