Vengeance Upon Fate - Chapter 25
The two men excitedly stood before Mitsuo. Kousuke had his scimitar raised, ready to mutilate the boy’s arms and legs as he pinned him down by the throat.
Mistuo had given up at this point. He recognized that all he could do was stare at the razor sharp weapon that was moments away from meeting his flesh. Truly, he was frightened to the depths of his hollow limbs.
“Let’s hear that scream again, shall we?”
With a sudden, unknown urge to look back, Reiji turned around to see if young Kurogane was still on his knees.
Surely the boy sat still in the same position, but now with an immense amount of dark, shadowy energy emitting from his body.
….?
He had one of his hands tightly wrapped on the hilt of his dagger while he used the other to hold himself up.
“Leave… him.. alone….” muttered Kurogane in a low, demented tone.
“What the hell? What is going on with this kid all of a sudden?”
Reiji could not help but feel intimidated to an extent from seeing Kurogane in his current condition.
“Haha, just go and break a few of his bones while I have fun stabbing this one.” chuckled Kousuke.
“Heh, Roger that. A puny kid can only do so much.”
Reiji let out a lengthy grin, pulling out his double edged iron dagger as he began to initiate towards young Kurogane. Wuxiaworld for visiting.
Now charging towards the boy with full force, he started to lose confidence in himself as Kurogane’s head abruptly rose, exposing his enraged, demonic expression.
….!!!
Reiji was instantly shook from this sight. It was enough to make him hesitate in the midst of his attack.
(There’s no way…)
Kurogane instantaneously accelerated forward with unbelievable speed, denting the ground and releasing wind in multiple directions.
Gasping aloud, Reiji’s fear was now at its peak.
(….Something’s not r-)
The sound of flesh ripping apart left the area in silence.
…?!!
Kurogane had stabbed Reiji through his liver, directly puncturing it deep enough to where the hilt of the boy’s weapon was only part that could be seen.
“Wh-.. How…”
But the young one didn’t stop there. He refused to stop. Twisting and tilting his shadowy dagger, the wound within Reiji only expanded further.
{K-Kkghhhh..}
With blood now dripping from the corners of his mouth, Reiji’s eyes widened in sheer shock, wheezing uncontrollably until dropping to the floor. Within seconds, a massive pool of blood had made its way through the surrounding grass.
Mitsuo watched in silence. The shock forbade him to make even the slightest noise after what he just saw.
Blood splattered onto Kurogane’s Kimono and soaked his hands. He was breathing heavily, now glaring straight into Kousuke’s soul.
Drops of sweat rolled down his face as he froze with his scimitar still raised towards Mitsuo.
Now conscious on how much of a threat the young boy had become, he began to feel uncomfortable.
(We couldn’t possibly have triggered his awakening, did we? Damnit. His elemental energy.. why is it overflowing to such a level…)
“Quite impressive, kid. That guy decided you weren’t worth his water enchantments, so that’s too bad for him.”
…
“However…”
Kousuke then stood up and pointed his weapon towards Kurogane, his hand still grasping Mitsuo by the neck.
“I won’t be holding back on you. Your actual play time starts and ends with me.”
“I thought I told you to leave him alone,” growled Kurogane in a crazed, violent manner.
“Oops, my bad!” said Kousuke in a sarcastic tone as a smirk began to grow on his face.
Kousuke threw Mitsuo against the tree with a great amount of force. It was hard enough to where the sounds of his bones could be heard deteriorating.
Mistuo laid against the tree, barely being able to breath or move from the impact.
This only added fuel to the hellish flames of rage burning within Kurogane. With his body viciously lunging forward, his eyes widened to its outer corners. The desire the young boy possessed was nothing less than bloodlust.
Kousuke horizontally rose his scimitar before himself and quickly casted an enchantment followed by a defensive spell.

His hand began to emit a green light. As he struck the floor with his glowing palm, this caused the surrounding area to shake.
<>
A thick, circular eight foot wall shot up from the ground between the two. Kousuke attempted to distract Kurogane before he could cast his next move.
(This should give me en-)
Kurogane’s feet firmly pressed against the land, jumping upwards high enough to soar over the wall, his raised dagger fully prepared to strike Kousuke.
He stared into Kurogane’s burning eyes, surprised at first but quickly shifted into anger as he growled and raised his weapon.
“YOU SON OF A BITCH!”
{KGHHRGHH}
Both made direct contact with their weapons. Kurogane’s firmly held his dagger vertically while Kousuke tilted his scimitar to repel the slash.
This created minor sparks, unleashing a loud clinking sound in the process.
Kurogane remained airborne for a few seconds until Kousuke pushed his weapon forward, sending the boy a few meters away.
He landed on his feet, contracting against the floor for several inches before stopping.
Seeking nothing less than the end of one another, the two of them fiercely exchanged glares.
Kousuke began to charge up his blade, glowing more intensely compared to before. That didn’t bother Kurogane in the slightest, as his dagger suddenly unleashed an excessive amount of shadow energy.
{HRRRRAGGHHHHHHH}
Growling aloud, Kurogane lunged forward, Kousuke doing the same as well.
“DAMN YOU!”
Kousuke raised his sword, preparing to land a fatal blow upon coming close enough.
Kurogane however had an unbelievable speed advantage. Before Kousuke could perceive the his move, Kurogane was already before him, inches away from landing making detrimental contact.
Both weapons made clashed again, Kousuke just barely making it in time to save himself.
〔Kurogane…〕
A voice rang suddenly through the young one’s head. A heavenly, familiar voice he wished he could hear over and over.
〔Kurogane dear..〕
It was her. It had to be her. There wasn’t another voice more beautifully unique in existence.
This only made Kurogane go further away from control. Remembering the one person that meant the entire world to him… the painful fact that he had lost her due to his incompetent self… it only crippled his sanity to a level beyond comprehension.
Both weapons locked onto each other until Kurogane’s dagger shot up with an even greater amount of shadow energy – eyes bloodshot and exploding in anger.
{HRRRRRAAAGHHHHH}
The force Kurogane poured into his weapon was inhuman at this point. In the span of a brief moment, Kousuke’s weapon shattered into several pieces.
As the airborne weapon fragments eventually started to fall, Kousuke stared into Kurogane’s merciless eyes. He knew that there wasn’t a single thing that could save him now – neither a weapon nor a particle’s worth of pity.
(Just.. what the hell are you…?)
….
Kurogane dug his dagger deep into Kousuke’s abdomen.
{ARGHHKK}
Dropping his weapon’s hilt, Kousuke fell backwards, his eyes twitching in pain. He tried to stop the bleeding with one of his hands, as pointless as his desperate attempts were.
….!!!
After landing a final glance into Kurogane’s eyes, his heart trembled. It was truly horrific enough to haunt him for a lifetime.
{Grrrrghh..}
Not wasting another second, Kurogane moved forward and impaled Kosuke’s eye as he threw him onto the floor.
Blood began to gush out in all directions. Kousuke let out a loud wail, fidgeting hysterically out of pain.
But Kurogane wasn’t done. He vigorously pulled out and raised his dagger, repeatedly stabbing Kousuke all over. The growls Kurogane let out were of pure insanity at this point.
…
〔Listen to your mother..〕
〔You’ll be okay..〕
An unfortunate image crawled into his mind – the very last moment of his mother’s irreplaceable smile before she hid him away.
{HRRGHRR}
The brutality of the stabbing only got worse. Blood splattered everywhere, some landing on Mitsuo’s terrorized face, eventually dripping through his clothes. His broadened eyes shook in horror as he witnessed Kousuke meet his foul demise.
After the fifth blow, the man was as good as dead, as the hysterical cries and movements had stopped. It must have been at least ten stabs before the incised wounds on his abdomen, chest and face could be seen – blood uncontrollably flowing out in all directions of the corpse.
Breathing heavily, Kurogane dropped his bloody dagger and stared at the body, his shadow energy fading away within seconds.
He turned his head to Mitsuo, who was still leaning against the tree.
“Mitsuo… are you.. okay?
He looked at Kurogane’s bloody, seemingly disturbing face and instantly received chills through his body.
Raising his quivering hands, he began to protect himself from what he saw to be a dangerous threat.
“S-Stay away from me…”
Unable to understand why his friend would say something like that, Kurogane’s eyes lit up in confusion. He turned and looked at his hands which were covered in blood.
….!
His heart began to race, as he realized the severity of what he had done. It was no longer a surprise as to how Mistuo felt after watching such a violent scene.
Mitsuo, with all of the energy that remained within him, got up and shouted at Kurogane, tears residing at the corners of his eyes.
“YOU MONSTER!”
…
….?!
Kurogane stared in shock, eventually trying to stop Mitsuo who was now limping away with an arm wrapped around his bruised chest. His face was severely damaged with many noticeable bruises present. This was followed by his broken nose that still had blood dripping from below.
“Wait.. Mitsuo… don’t go.. you’re hurt..”
Kurogane stood up and tried to move forward, his hand inching towards Mitsuo.
Not pausing for even the slightest second to look back, Mitsuo continued to force himself forward, sobbing and moving as quickly as he could.
Kurogane’s vision suddenly began to blur. He felt incredibly weak, as the adrenaline was surely coming to an end. The body pain also gradually returned by the second.
Seconds later, he collapsed onto his chest, his eyes hardly halfway open. He could still see Mitsuo slowly fading away from the distance. It wasn’t long before he was greeted with nothing but pitch black darkness.
“Mistu…o….”
