Vengeance Upon Fate - Chapter 38
Dawn came swiftly, and Kurogane was up and ready to leave.
He picked up his backpack, which seemed a bit heavier than usual.
“Hm?”
After opening it, he found some newly packed food, mid tier potions, medicine, another pouch of money and the other utilities Reo had left him still in place.
Kurogane sighed in guilt, unsure how he could take so much from them after doing nothing in return.
“They really don’t know when to stop.”
He took his belt, which was on a hook against the wall and put it on, carrying his bag right after.
After opening the door quietly, Kurogane took a peak at the front hallway and walked out of the room.
“Looking for something?” said a distinct voice from Kurogane’s left side.
“Huh?”
Kurogane looked to the left hallway and saw Yukito and Ayumi standing side by side, smiling directly at him. Wuxiaworld for visiting.
Ayumi carried a lamp on one hand and his folded cloak and shirt on the other, while Yukito carried his sheathed sword and armour pads.
“Were you both up all night?”
“Nah, we got up early since we had a feeling you’d head out first thing in the morning. I don’t know about her though..”
“Ehem, I slept pretty well I can assure you.” replied Ayumi, giving Yukito an annoyed look.
“Thank you… I really wouldn’t be alive without the two of you. I can’t help but feel bad for taking so much.”
Both of them smiled.
“It’s been a pleasure since the first day.”
Ayumi nodded to her father’s statement.
Kurogane entered the main room for the first time and sat down on one of the customer waiting chairs. The room had simple wooden flooring and walls like the rest of the house, with a front counter and multiple shelves behind it. All sorts of potions, medications and ingredients could be seen.
The windowed front door had two large, wide windows beside them and nicely lit lamps on all walls. It seemed like a nice shop for the kind that was attached to a house.
After fully equipping himself and fastening his boots, he noticed that his cloak and shirt were good as new, despite being worn out from his journey.
“Yeah, so my daughter is top-notch with sewing too… great wife material, you know?” Said Yukito, nudging his shoulders while attempting to whisper.
“Uhm..”
“I heard that…..” said Ayumi, who frowned with her eyes closed, wrapping her arms on her chest.
“Ohhh, did ya? Whoops.”
“If I hear another statement like that, I’m not making dinner tonight..”
“Ehehehhh… my bad.”
“Hmph”
Yukito turned to Kurogane and placed his hand on his shoulder.
“Anyways, good luck with the rest of your journey. Don’t feel obligated to repay us in any manner. We helped you because that’s what we love doing, alright?”
Kurogane took a step back and bowed, thanking them sincerely.
After finishing, he proceeded to open the door, which rang the bell attached to the top of it.
“Tamashiro san… uhm..”
Ayumi blurted out his name before he could walk out.
“Yea?”
“P-Please come by again sometimes… okay?”
Kurogane let out a moderate smile and nodded, then walked out the door.
“Hehe, I think I know where this is going.”
“That’s it!”
Kurogane could hear the bickering start once again as he started walking away into the city.
After taking a few steps,Kurogane paused and looked up into the bright sky, lit up by the presence of the rising sun. It was luminous as ever, enough to make Kurogane shade his eyes with his arm.
(Kardirie will be my next stop then.)
