Vengeful in Love - Chapter 40:Movie date
After they were done with the court house, they drove off to the movie theatre to watch the movie they chose. The result of the court thing was that Uncle Johnson was able to pay off Min’s punishment. Matthew and Renae were both shocked when Min approached them to apologised for what she had done to them.
“It seems like she really learnt her lesson,” Renae spoke to Matthew.
“Yeah… but I still can’t forget what she did,” Matthew replied.
“Same here, but everyone deserves a second chance right?” Renae asked.
“I guess so,” he answered as they continued walking to Matt’s car.
They got into his car, buckled up and off they went to the movie theatre. They arrived at their location in a few minutes time as there wasn’t much traffic. Renae went to buy their tickets for the movie while Matthew bought both of them drinks and popcorn. Teamwork makes the dreamwork! Renae bought the tickets, took her drink from Matthew and they gave the tickets to the man on duty.
He teared the side of their tickets and they walked into hall 2. Renae switched on her phone light to find their seat number as the lights were dimmed. They eventually found their seats and sat down. Renae placed her drink into the drink holder and opened her bag. She was looking for her jacket but it wasn’t in her bag. Renae realised she had left it at home. She zipped up her bag and put her hands into her pant’s pockets.
Matthew immediately noticed that she was feeling cold and passed the popcorn to Renae. He quickly took out his jacket and placed it around Renae. She watched as he did so. Renae blushed so much that she had to use her hair to cover her face. Matthew looked at her, confused. He thought that he had done something wrong so she didn’t want to look at him. Moments later, Renae whispered a ‘thank you’ to Matthew and returned the popcorn to him. She put her hands inside the jacket Matt had just lent her.
They ended up whispering and chatting to one another as the advertisements came on continuously. They were starting to get bored because they kept playing the same ads over and over again. Only when the movie was about to begin did they kept their mouths shut.
And the movie began.
“I need to PEE,” Renae half whisper half yelled at Matthew as she got up and sprinted out of the hall and towards the toilet. Matthew laughed, grabbed all their stuff and got up to stretch. He then walked to the toilet to wait for Renae.
“Hey, isn’t that boy cute? The one waiting outside the toilet. Don’t you think he’s cute?” A female voice said. “Hmm… where? Oh! I see him. Yea, I agree. Go talk to him! He doesn’t seem too unapproachable,” another female voice replied.
Matthew shifted uncomfortably between his left and right feet as he listened to the ladies gossip. After some time, he felt a tap on his shoulder. He thought it was Renae so he smiled and turned around. “Hey! We should go grab dinner now,” he said. But right after he finished his sentence, he realised it wasn’t Renae. “Ah… really? I’d love to go for dinner!” The girl replied, blushing slightly as she looked down to hide her face. “Oh sorry I-” “He got the wrong person, now scram!” Renae interrupted, possessively grabbing onto Matthew’s arm.
The girl was a little shocked at first, but after some time, she glared at Renae and sashayed towards the exit with her friend following her.
“Oh? Is this… is this jealousy that I sense?” Matthew asked teasingly, looking at Renae. “No! There’s not way I’d be jealous when we aren’t even dating,” she answered, crossing her arms and turning the other way. Matthew chuckled. “Anyways, would you like to go for dinner together, m’lady?” He asked, putting out his hand like he did the night before. Renae’s heart was on fire! How on earth did she find a sweet yet corny guy like Matthew? It matched her puny side very well.
“Of course, but please never call m’lady again or I’ll call you sir nincompoop as a return gift,” Renae said, placing her hand on Matthew’s. Hearing that, he immediately agreed. They got into the car and headed for dinner.
“Where are we heading for dinner?” Renae asked as she looked out the window at the passing scenery. “Does a Japanese restaurant sit well with you? I’ve been to many but there’s one I’d love to try. It’s called Akimitsu and I heard it has amazing fried foods,” Matthew replied, keeping his eyes on the road. “Sure! I love fried foods.”
They soon reach the restaurant. It was well decorated with dark blue being its main colour. The waiters and waitresses wore kimonos and were all very respectful towards the customers. They were greeted by the lady in charge of the counter the moment they entered.
“A table for two? Right this way. Are you two a couple? We currently have a couple’s special where each couple gets a free dessert and choice of drink,” the lady leading them to their table said. “Free drink and dessert, Matt! Say yes, say yes!” Renae said, loud enough so that only Matthew could hear her. He nodded and calmed her down with his hands. “Yes, we’re a new couple,” he responded shyly. “Ah! Then this’ll be perfect for you,” the lady picked up the menu as they reached their table. “It’s right here, there’s a lovers’ course meal as well. We were under renovation for quite some time starting from February so we missed Valentine’s day. This is what we’re doing to make up for it,” the lady continued to explain.
“We’ll check it out and get back to you later,” Renae said, a wide smile on her face. Seeing her cute dimples, Matthew couldn’t help but smile as well. “You know, since we’re doing this anyways… why don’t we become…. a real couple?” He asked. His face was completely red but he still looked straight at Renae. “As in… girlfriend and boyfriend?” She asked back. He nodded.
“You’re so stupid,” Renae said, looking down. “You should’ve asked me this question earlier.” Matthew’s lips curved into a semicircle after hearing Renae say that. “Now kiss me!” She said boldly, lifting up her head and leaning towards Matthew. He stabilised himself by placing his elbow on the table and pressed his lips onto her’s.
“Hey…. hey! I can hear the smooching noises from your butt so stop and pay attention to me!” A male voice suddenly said. They both froze and looked around. “Oh, my butt answered Kaiden’s oncoming call. Hey, Kaiden! What’s up?” Renae said. “Am I on speaker? Turn it off! This is private…” Kaiden replied. She did as he requested, but her ears almost burst when Kaiden continued speaking. “WAIT oh my GOD stop yelling! Matt, you go ahead and order your food first. I’ll see the menu after talking to Kaiden. He seems to be in a crisis,” she talked over a panicking Kaiden. Matthew nodded.
“Okay, so… so you see.. I think I’m… I’m pregnant! Wait no ha ha ha I didn’t mean to say that I’m just nervous-” “Cut to the chase! I’m currently on my first date with my beloved boyfriend,” Renae interrupted. “I… might have feelings… feelings for Cathy and I have no idea what to do!” He finally spat out the words he struggled so hard to say.
“Ah… so that’s what’s happening. Well, when you have a crush on me, what did you do? Apply that to Cathy,” Renae casually replied. Kaiden was a look dumbstruck for a minute. “W-Wait… you knew I liked you?” He asked. “Of course. Even Cathy could tell. Either ways, you’ve gone through this crush thing once, you can do it twice,” she replied. “Now stop panicking and relax. Having a crush has it’s good and bad points. I need to return to my date,” she said, hanging up before he could continue blabbering.
They finished up dinner in a jiffy and soon enough, Matthew was fetching Renae home to her adorable Rere.
