Once Nian Zhen woke up from her drunken state and was finally sober, Yu Yingyi explained everything that happened so far while Qian Shan sat silently and listened.

For their sake, Yu Yingyi didn’t mention the part where Nian Zhen tried to unleash her desires onto her, or else Nian Zhen would be too ashamed to talk to her.

“I’m surprised, princess. There are unknown intruders in the city that I didn’t even know of and you already have a bodyguard,” Nian Zhen said, drinking a cup of water to soothe her throat.

“I didn’t know either, I just found out before you passed out. There isn’t much to say but be careful,” Yu Yingyi warned. “Also, why were you drunk? You were filling the store with the smell of alcohol.”

“Alcohol?” Nian Zhen questioned, her head tilting in confusion. “I never drank any alcohol, I only had tea and water.”

“Wait,” Yu Yingyi paused.. “Are you sure?”

“Yes.”

“That’s weird, then why was there the smell of alcohol on you?”

The question filled the room with silence, neither Yu Yingyi nor Nian Zhen knew the answer to it. They were both clueless. The room remained silent until Qian Shan spoke up.

“It seems the intruders already struck and Nian Zhen was one of the victims,” Qian Shan said.

“How is that possible?” Yu Yingyi asked.

“That’s what I’m trying to find out,” Qian Shan replied. “Nian Zhen, where were you earlier this morning before you got drunk?”

“I was working at the restaurant like I always did,” Nian Zhen replied.

“You were working at a restaurant…hmm. Was there anything suspicious happening? Like a group of people coming in or maybe a single person?” Nian Zhen asked.

Nian Zhen pondered before speaking, “If I recall correctly, there was this customer that came in and started talking to a waiter. That was the first time I saw him. The second time I saw him was when he served us drinks when we were on break. Although it was my first time seeing him, he was wearing out uniform so I didn’t think much of it. That was the last time I saw him until I showed up here.”

Both Yu Yingyi and Qian Shan started taking in the information Nian Zhen gave them. Yu Yingyi started thinking about what happened, the only conclusion she came to was that the customer talked to the waiter and somehow convinced the waiter that he was a worker there. Once he convinced the waiter that he worked there, he waited until it was break time and served the drinks that made Nian Zhen drunk.

After concluding what happened, Yu Yingyi met eye contact with Nian Zhen and they both nodded in sync. It was as if their minds were in sync.

“So that’s what happened,” Yu Yingyi muttered. “It seems like the customer was an intruder and placed spikes in your drink.”

“Luckily, it seems to be heavy alcohol considering how drunk you were. Everything other than that isn’t a threat to your body,” Qian Shan added.

“I see, but I have a question in mind.” Nian Zhen said.

“What is it?”

“Hmm?”

“What was their purpose? Why did they come to our restaurant when there are other restaurants out there that are far better?” Nian Zhen asked.

Yu Yingyi’s fingers moved to her chin as she contemplated, “Maybe your restaurant has a lot of money and they want it?”

Nian Zhen shook her head, “That’s not possible, we only have nice uniforms and decent food. Anything other than that is terrible, our restaurant is the last place they would want to steal from.”

“Then, is there anything special about the restaurant you work in? Like a special history to it or something valuable hidden inside?” Qian Shan asked.

Nian Zhen seemed to ponder for a while, her eyes were unblinking, and her body remained still. Yu Yingyi didn’t understand how one’s body was capable of this, it was as if she was a living corpse. Yu Yingyi snapped out of her thoughts when Nian Zhen spoke.

“Hmm, I think there was a rumor saying that our restaurant was built on the ancient ground. But since it was hard to believe, it stayed as a rumor and was forgotten.”

“That rumor,” Qian Shan muttered. “Could it be true?”

“Whether it’s true or not, I think it’s best if we visit the restaurant and ask the owner about the rumor,” Yu Yingyi said as she faced Nian Zhen. “About the history of the restaurant, do you know anything else?”

Nian Zhen shook her head, “No, I haven’t worked there long enough or interacted with people to know more. I only heard it when

waitresses were gossiping.”

Yu Yingyi looked at Nian Zhen with a helpless expression, she was worried about Nian Zhen’s personality. If she doesn’t start to change, she might not be able to make any more friends.

“It seems that you’re not able to make-” before Qian Shan could continue any further, Yu Yingyi immediately sprinted towards Qian Shan’s side and whispered.

“Don’t say it out loud.”

“Oh, sorry.”

“Is there something I’m missing out on…?” Nian Zhen asked.

“No, no,” Yu Yingyi replied as she made up an excuse. “We were just discussing what to do since we don’t have many options.”

Qian Shan nodded, “We decided to visit the restaurant and ask the owner or someone who’s been there for a long time.”

“I see, but should we go right now or should we wait a bit before going?” Nian Zhen asked.

“It’s best if we come the next day, I don’t want to run into the intruders and blow our cover since they probably think we don’t know anything yet,” Qian Shan said.

“What if the owner doesn’t want to tell us? What should we do then?” Yu Yingyi asked.

When Yu Yingyi finished the question, Qian Shan and Nian Zhen turned towards her.

“W-what? Why are you both looking at me?”

“If we can’t get the information, we’ll just use you.”

“Mhm, who would dare deny the princess?”
