Vicious Young Miss Is Lesbian, And Wants Me? - Chapter 98
“Come look at this,” Yu Yingyi urged.
Beneath the refrigerator, there was a gold pin that shone from the light. On the center of the pi, there were characters that translated to “Zhu” which was the empire in the north.
“The Zhu empire? Why was their pin here?” Mei Xiang asked in confusion.
“That’s what I’m wondering too, perhaps there was something they wanted in this basement? Moreover, did they leave this pin behind intentionally or unintentionally?” Yu Yingyi asked, she was beginning to feel cautious since everything had been too easy.
“But why did the Zhu empire send people here? Was the rumor that valuable to them?” Qing Shan asked.
“Most likely that wasn’t all, there has to be something about this area that made the Zhu empire come here,” Yu Yingyi said.
Suddenly, there was a loud sound of concrete rubbing against each other echoed throughout the basement. Yu Yingyi glanced in the direction of the sound and was startled. There was an entrance to a secret room that once had a wall. But what was more surprising was Nian Zhen’s strength.
Naturally, Yu Yingyi didn’t doubt her strength since when Nian Zhen pinned her down, she couldn’t move at all. But she didn’t expect her to be this strong. Now that she thought about it, every girl she’s met was strong. Yu Yingyi was starting to wonder if Mei Xiang had abnormal too, surely not right?
“What’s this? A secret entrance?” Mei Xiang asked, curiosity laced in her voice.
“It’s not a secret entrance, it’s just that this hidden door is only known to the most trustworthy workers here,” Nian Zhen stated.
Yu Yingyi and the rest didn’t say anything as they entered the dark room one by one. Once they were all in, torches that were placed on the side were lit up. The room itself wasn’t big, but it had enough space to fit them. At the end of the room, there was an old chest with a lock on it.
“What’s this?” Mei Xiang asked as she touched the old chest. “There’s a lot of dust, it must’ve been here for a long time.”
“En, it has been here for a long time. It’s been untouched for the past year I think. I was the first one to clean it, but perhaps I got too lazy that I didn’t bother,” Nian Zhen said.
Yu Yingyi was starting to doubt Nian Zhen’s identity. There was no way she was a commoner and knew this much information.
“Are you sure you’re just a commoner? This information shouldn’t be revealed this casually,” Yu Yingyi said.
“It’s fine, I trust you all enough to not tell anyone about this. Mainly because you’re all part of royalty, spreading this information would only put you at a disadvantage,” Nian Zhen calmly remarked.
Yu Yingyi glanced at Nian Zhen and thought that this girl was more cunning than she thought. Yet, Yu Yingyi also had the feeling Nian Zhen didn’t know what she was saying.
“If that offended you, I apologize, but I’m only stating the truth,” Nian Zhen added.
Yu Yingyi waved it off. “Don’t worry about it. Can you open the chest or do we need a lock?”
“There’s no need for a lock,” Nian Zhen said as she stood up from her crouched position. She got into a kicking stance and struck at the lock. Just like that, the lock fell to the ground.
“Won’t you need a new lock?”
“Nope, I’ve always done it like this and the lock still hasn’t broken.”
Yu Yingyi and the rest all glanced at the rock in pity. The lock had to suffer Nian Zhen’s kick for almost a year, it must’ve had a hard life.
“Well!” Mei Xiang exclaimed as she clapped her hands. “What are we waiting for? Open the chest already.”
Nian Zhen complied and reached her hand into the chest. Everyone felt anxious and couldn’t wait to see what was in there. Gold? Diamonds? Jades? It could be anything, but they were all disappointed when Nian Zhen pulled out an old book.
“My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined,” Mei Xiang said.
“You couldn’t have said it any better,” Yu Yingyi added.
“Agreed,” Qing Shan seconded.
“Calm down, what’s important are the contents of the book. The information in here is top secret, though the people of royalty might know about it,” Nian Zhen said.
“Ah, I’m a commoner as well. No wonder I didn’t know,” Yu Yingyi said, she was wondering if Song Liya knew about this too.
“Then open the book, I want to know what’s inside,” Mei Xiang said.
“Ah, I forgot to mention, there isn’t anything inside the book,” Nian Zhen said as she revealed the empty pages.
“Then what was so important about the chest?”
“This,” Nian Zhen said as her hand reached down the chest again, she pulled out a flat cover and placed it on the floor before reaching down the chest again. “This is what’s important.”
Nian Zhen was now holding a scroll that seemed to still be in good condition after all this time.
“There are two layers to this chest, the first layer would be the fake one while the second layer would be where the real treasure was placed. It was specifically made to trick people.”
“Then what’s in the scroll?”
“Let me show you.”
When Nian Zhen opened the scroll, words could be seen on the paper.
“The value of jades is priceless, symbolizing prosperity, success, and good luck. It represents the city’s culture, the strive for renewal, longevity, and even immortality.”
Yu Yingyi figured this was the reason why jades were so highly valued in the city, mainly because people, specifically the nobles, either sold or bought jade. Money and success were what everyone wanted.
Though, things didn’t seem to be going well. The city wasn’t advancing so there was no place for renewal, longevity isn’t a thing since buildings are getting older.
“That’s funny since the city doesn’t seem to be progressing at all, to hell with renewal,” Mei Xiang said with a chuckle at the end.
“Agreed,” Qing Shan said.
“It seems you said it before me. There’s no helping it, the people who once invented and designed buildings have gotten old or they’ve already entered the afterlife,” Yu Yingyi said.
“True enough, but we’re off-topic. Let’s pay attention to why the intruder came here. Was it for the chest or was there something else?” Qing Shan asked.
“I think they came here for a reason. We all know the Zhu empire is full of people who are obsessed with culture and striving for new ambitions. Most likely they sent someone here to take the history,” Yu Yingyi said.
That was when an unknown voice suddenly appeared.
“Damn right we came here to take it back.. I thank you for revealing the entrance to us.”
